1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?
Seth: The album was recorded in october 2020. We received final mix in december. Since that time we’ve managed to sing up with GodzOvWar for release that will take place on 17.04. Negotiation of the details of release, cover artwork etc. also took some time. However we’ve been rehearsing hard and started work on new stuff.
2.Recently you have released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
S: It’s much better haha… First of all we have a live drummer now. Very creative guy who put a lot of human madness into the drum parts. Second – the studio and producer. Absolutely brilliant work done by Mr. Heinrich. No doubt, one of the best metal producers in Poland with huge sense and dedication. Third – the music. It’s a bit more complete and for sure better arranged than on previous albums. Still dark and furious but melodic. Bass parts are really good and there are some surprises in samples...
3.A lot of your lyrics also cover misanthropic, death, anti human and suicidal themes, can you tell us a little bit more about what these topics mean to you?
ZERO: I can’t agree that the lyrics are anti-human or misanthropic. There were no special emotions during writing them. They simply express how stupid, primitive, filthy we are. How much ignorant we are. I wish „ Dom Człowieka” to be receive rather a documentary than hatefull manifesto. There is nothing left to hate anyway. I sing those lyrics with a smile on my face.
4.Your music is heavily rooted in the old school black metal style, do you feel that the classic bands are superior to the modern bands?
S: Hey, we’re modern band right? Joke of course. I’m into the scene since 90’ so it’s somehow natural for me to create music rooted in old school classics. However I truly appreciate the modern bands especially for the music in itself. Are the pioneers superior? I don’t know. The progression of the whole Black Metal as a genre is fascinating. It is almost 40 years of evolution in blasphemy and exploration of musical extremes. And still there is some magic to step into.
5.I know that the bands name means 'rope' in Polish, how does this name fit in with the musical style that you play?
S: Yes...
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
ZERO: We’ve only played once. We dress like a workers of funeral company and just like them, we try to do our best work.
S: We’ve played only once in January 2020 before the Covid shit. Regarding the fact that we were rehearsing for about 3 months as a band, the show was really good. You may check some fragments on YT anyway. We are trio so I use octaver to cover the lack of bassist.
7.The band started out as a solo project, do you feel you have accomplished a lot more with a full line up?
S: For sure! Now the band is in completely different condition than when I’ve formed it some years ago. We’re now a band consisting on three individual artists. Each one of us is giving his best to create a wholeness of artistic creation called Sznur. It’s not only the music but also lyrics and visual art.
8.The new album was released on 'Godz Of War Productions', how did you get in contact with this label?
S: We’ve trade some cds before so we were in touch. Concerning the profile of the label it was our first choice and somehow a dream to be released under their banner. I was really excited when Greg decided to cooperate with us and I’m sure this is the best way for all of us. I guess no other label would have enough guts to release this kind of controversial art.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
S: I don’t know. I don’t care. We’ll see….
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
S: We already have some new tracks. We set no artistic limit to ourselves, so the the music will progress all the time. Maybe it’s more brutal and experimental but still melodic and in the vein of nordic BM. We hope to record new album by the end of this year. But it all depends on too many aspects to mention. Strange times...
11.What are you currently listening to nowadays?
S: Many different things. Besides classic metal stuff I trully enjoy stoner, sludge, psychedelic rock… Sometimes ambient and synthwave stuff… My favourites from last weeks are: Biesy, Odraza, Blut Aus Nord, Weedpecker, Trup, Ihsahn, Urfaust, Dead Can Dance and Richard Wagner...
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
S: Thanks for the interviev. I hope we all finally fucking die…
ZERO: Eat more vegetables
