Necromante Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what's been happening with the band since recording and releasing the new album?

Okulto: I'm currently living in Portugal but activities are still going on, I'm writing a new album yet to be announced and we're planning some splits for 2023.

2. In March you released a new album, musically how does it differ from the things you've released in the past?

Okulto: the first fact that differs from the past was the moment, the more time passes the more we learn and this is reflected in our work, besides it was the first album with Reaper taking over the guitar and the vocals after the departure of Arquimedes, it was an album produced at the height of the pandemic and between attempts with new members, it was a time of overcoming and all this was reflected in the work.

3. Many of your lyrics cover themes of Occultism and Left Hand Path, can you tell us a little more about what led you on the path and how your interest in the dark arts has expanded and evolved over the years?

Okulto: I have been attracted to the dark side since I was a child, so very early on I was sure about the path I would follow, as a teenager, all this dark feeling with extreme metal made me delve more and more into the occult world, since so my search didn't stop.

 4. From the lyrics I've read so far, the research is good and better than many bands in the genre writing about the same topic, do you feel that having more researched lyrics makes your music stand out that much more?

Okulto: I take around two to three years to write a record, that's what the Necromante is, we don't make music to throw words to the wind, everything has a purpose, everything is done in honor of the old gods, so let's always try to do what best within our placement

 5. I know the band's name comes from Necromancy, can you tell us a little more about your interest in the various necromantic paths?

Okulto: I wouldn't say interest I would say called, when you are on this path things happen, we are guided and we find what we need, in Brazil the cult of the left hand has grown a lot in recent years especially with Quimbanda, so this is our mission , spread the left hand path in its essence.

6. Can you tell us a little more about the art that is featured on the new album cover?

Okulto: The idea was to make a total necro version of the arcanes of the tarot, the Necromancer in the image is the mixture of the arcanes Magus, Hermit, Emperor and Death, on his side mounted on the beast we have the fusion of the arcanes of Death, Strength, Justice and the Devil, and the Phoenix represents the Necromante himself.

 7. Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding the lineup again in the future or would you prefer to remain a duo?

Okulto: We finished the album as a duo out of necessity, only Reaper and I had enough focus to go to work, other than that I'm always looking for lost souls to play, soon I hope to be announcing new members for shows and new works .

8. What are some of the best shows the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your performance on stage?

Okulto: the best show in my opinion was the last one in São Paulo with Impurity, the audience was insane it was a real devastation, moments I will never forget.

 9. The new album was released by 'Iron Bonehead Productions', how do you compare working with this label with other labels you were a part of in the past?

Okulto: Iron Bonehead was our first official label, we even released other things but all in partnership with my label Dragon In Black or with Pravitatem the label of Reaper, Iron Bonehead has been a great ally in recent years and we are happy with the support.

Q10. Globally, how has black metal fans reacted to your music?

Okulto: the reaction has been very good, we have received good feed backs from all over the world, and it is very good to see the emotion of the fans of the style when describing the new record

11. Where do you see the band going musically in the future?

Okulto: I'm currently writing a new record, we have our own style but I'm always looking for new elements to contrast our chemistry.

12. What are some of the bands or styles of music that band members listen to these days?

Okulto: I've been listening to Malokarpatan a lot in recent years, besides I've been listening to a lot of Brazilian black metal bands like Hecate, Ocultan, Lord Blasphemate and Kastiphas.

 13. Before we close this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Okulto: we thank you for the space given to the Necromante, it was a pleasure to share our purpose with you, wait for new works All HAIL LUCIFER!
