Acolyte are a solo project from Fargo, North Dakota that plays a very atmospheric, progressive and ritualistic form of black metal and this is a review of his sel f released 2020 demo "Divine Falsehood".
A very dark and ritualistic sounding intro starts off the demo while also introducing synths onto the recording before going into a heavier direction. Half of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal s creams.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the faster sections of the songs also ad d in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the demo more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody, acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly and the music also has its progressive moments.
Acolyte plays a style of black metal t hat is very raw, ritualistic, atmospheric and progressive sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover esoteric, voodoo and darkness themes.
In my opinion Acolyte are a very great sounding atmospheric, progressive, raw and ritualistic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Earth Inferno/Valley Of Fear/Voudon Gnosis". 8 out of 10.
