Alasteth are a duo form Germany that plays a very nihilistic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "The Nihilism of Alasteth" which will be released in October by Schwarzdorn Production.
Spoken word parts start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
Clear chants and vocals can also be heard on a couple of songs while a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing at times along with one track also adding in a small amount of growls and most of the album also sticks to a more mid tempo direction and one song also adds in a brief of melodic guitar leads and blast beats.
Alasteth plays a style of black emtal that is very mid paced, old school and nihilistic sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the continual battle between light and shadow.
In my opinion Alasteth are a very great sounding nihilistic black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Return(Of Ancient Gods)" "Henchmen Of Perverted Devotion" and "...Still Wandering". 8 out of 10.
