Finland's solo project Nobody has returned with a new recording which shows him moving away from acoustic black metal and focusing on an acoustic progressive folk rock direction and this is a review of his 2023 album "Hyperborean Ecstasy" which will b e released in September by Inverse Records.
Acoustic guitars start off the album while also adding in a good mixture of both finger picking and full chords. Vocals are done in more of a clean neo-folk style along with the music also adding in some psychedelic touches at times and the music also shows some influences of 60's era progressive rock.
Electronic sounds are also added on some of the tracks while the drum beats also give the songs more of a tribal feeling. Electric guitars are also added on some of the tracks along with each song also sounding very different from each other and the folk instruments also bring in more of a Western European atmosphere, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
On this recording Nobody avoids any elements of black metal and brings in more of an acoustic and progressive folk rock style,. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover Mythology, Drugs and Philosophical themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from ZNobody and if you are a fan of dark, acoustic and progressive folk rock, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "ExcommunicatedLeviathan" and "Motorcuck". 8 out of 10.
