This is a review of a split album between United Kingdom's Ulfarr and Malfeitor which will be released on August 26th by Purity Through Fire and we will start off the review with Ulfarr who return with a very raw, misanthropic and old school style of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with high pitched black metal screams along with a very fast and r aw sound which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Most of the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's era and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to t hem.
Throughout their side of t he recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Keyboards can also be heard on a few tracks along with some melodies also being added into the guitar riffing as well as the vocals also having their grim moments. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover misanthropy, darkness and violence themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ulfarr and if you are a fan of misanthropic, old school and r aw black metal, you should check out their side of t he split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Serpent Of Coils" and "Sacred Rights of Bloodshed".
Next up is Malfeitor a solo project that plays a very raw and old school form of black metal.
His side of the split starts out with a very dark and heavy sound while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on his side of the recording. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in t he 90's second wave era along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, a small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing and all of the music sticks to a heavier direction. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Darkness and Black Metal themes.
In my opinion Malfeitor are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Final ode" and "Soulless World".
In conclusion i feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of raw and old school b lack metal. 8 out of 10.
