Dead Slow Hand Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?

We are Dead Slow Hand and we play black metal.

2.In June you have a new ep coming out, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

The NU^L EP is darker and more atmospheric, but I’m still staying true to my vision of black metal. I simply tried to push the sound further and improve the production. This time, mixing and mastering was handled by Harpak Karnik. On previous releases, I did everything myself, which was pretty stressful. The biggest difference now is that O gave this EP its true form.

3.A lot of your lyrics cover Luciferian and Occult themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

We serve the darkness – what else would we write about? Love and peace? I’ll leave that to the rainbow worshippers.

As for the lyrics, I left that to O. I gave him the concept, and he wrote them like he could see straight into my soul.

When I compose, I try to let the music tell a story on its own – O gave that story words.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Dead Slow Hand'?

In the past, I shattered my right wrist – there are still screws and metal in it to this day. Its movement is limited, but it became an irreplaceable part of my playing.

When I was coming up with the name, I wanted it to be a part of me – and that’s how Dead Slow Hand was born.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?

The artwork is a masterpiece by an artist I discovered by accident. I really like his style and his work.

The cover visualizes the concept behind the songs on the EP.

It depicts the apparition of a four-legged rotting goat, resembling Baphomet, summoned by its worshippers in a bloody ritual deep within the NU^L forest.

6.Originally the band started out as a solo project but has recently evolved into a duo, what was the decision behind adding in an additional member?

The instrumental demos for the EP were ready, but I had no vocals. I had injured my vocal cords, and I was left with two options: either give up on the release, or accept that I had to find a new voice – which meant becoming a duo.

A burning cross brought forth a voice of doom from the depths of the underworld. That voice is O.

7.The band members live in Czechia and the United Kingdom, what impact does the long distance between the band members have on the music that you create?

We share one vision, and distance won’t stop us.

This is the modern world, after all.

8.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

I haven’t approached any labels yet – I release everything myself. There have been some “offers,” but they lacked that proper underground stench.

We’ll see what happens after NU^L is released.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

I think Dark Underground wasn’t really understood by people.

I believe the ritualistic NU^L EP will change that.

10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

A full-length album will come when the darkness deems it time.

For now, it only speaks to us in the form of new riffs.

Musically, we’ll stay true to our black metal vision.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I’ve been influenced by many bands and styles.

But when it comes to Dead Slow Hand, it’s mostly the Nordic black metal classics from the ’90s: Mayhem, Burzum, Dark Funeral, Immortal, now also Abbath, Gorgoroth, Darkthrone, and so on.

I also draw inspiration from stoner/doom bands.

I’m not sure if this fits here, but lately I’ve been listening to a lot of audiobooks – they bring a lot of inspiration too. Musically, I’m really into raw black metal bands right now.

12.Before we wrap up this itnerview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for the opportunity to speak.

Stay true to yourselves – and may Morningstar guide you through the shadows.

I believe that on June 13th, 2025, the flames will rise and NU^L will echo in their glow.

Blood Brain Barrier Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

This project manifested as a result of our need to merge our vast pool of musical influences. Isabelle (vocalist) and I (guitars/drums/bass/production) enjoy a lot of underground bands from different sub-genres of metal ranging from progressive metal to sludge, doom and black metal. We also play in 2 other death metal projects (Mors Verum and Ischemic). However we wanted to have full control over our song writing and management, which then led us to form Blood Brain Barrier. I had a few songs written already but needed the heavy touch of Isabelle’s vocals to complete the sonic landscape.

2.You have an ep coming out in July, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

So for this EP, we wanted to combine the trance-inducing elements of black metal with heaviness of doom and sludge. Everything recorded and mixed was kept as organic as possible because we love the sounds of analogue gear. I wanted this EP to have its own vibe that would justify the convergence of the above-mentioned sub genres of metal.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

Lyrically and thematically, we like to explore the fractured borderlands between the physical and the metaphysical—where inner turmoil mirrors societal collapse, and spiritual decay reflects in ecological ruin. We’ve always been fans of abstract concepts—identity dissolution, entropy, liminality, and psychic fragmentation—and find that these themes often echo real-world anxieties and existential dread.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Blood Brain Barrier'?

Blood Brain Barrier, in real life, is a permeable membrane that separates the brain's microenvironment from the bloodstream, protecting it from harmful substances while allowing essential nutrients to enter. This is within us and as humans, we don’t realise its function, as it is autonomous. Just like other realms that we may not be otherwise aware of in our current cosmic environment. It may be performing the same function as the Blood Brain Barrier performs in our bodies, keeping harmful entities away and only letting the essential energies in our lives. However, in the context of this project, we like to explore all the harmful entities that are trying to break through this barrier.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the EP cover?

The artwork was inspired by the title of this EP: “Windows Drenched in Red”. I designed the artwork myself in order to stay true to how I feel when I listen to our EP. The artwork represents the paradox of curiosity from both, the human and the abstract realms. They both want to explore each other, only realizing that this exploration in itself is a futile cause which will eventually pulverize them into non - existence.

6.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding the line up or do you prefer to remain a duo?

For song writing and the creative process, we will always remain a duo. However, if we go on a tour or play live, we are surely going to have a full band with 2 guitarists and a bassist, while I handle the drumming duties and Isabelle does her vocals.

7.Are there any plans for live shows in the future?

Yes, we would love to go on a mini-tour later this year and/or next year sometime. We plan to reach bands in similar realms from Canada who may be interested to tour with us. Our ideal pick, locally, would be Thantifaxath, Tomb Mold, etc. We will surely update everyone through our social media accounts if and when the tour is set up and ready to go.

8.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

We are open to merge with a label if it is a symbiotic relationship.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black, sludge and doom metal?

Well, this is our debut release, so we haven’t reached as many fans as we would hope to. But time will tell.

10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

You can expect a full length in a year’s time from this release. I am always in the studio working away on my ideas. So a full-length is already brewing as we speak. Musically, we are aiming to build more on the trance-inducing elements of sound and something that can take the listener on a unique journey, while listening to us in their day to day life or when we play live shows.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

When it comes to song writing aspects, I heavily lean on Steven Wilson’s (Porcupine Tree) essence. Sonically however, I love the all-encompassing, enveloping and reverberating sounds of bands like Ruins of Beverast, Yellow Eyes, Krallice, Thou and Wolves in the Throne Room etc. Nowadays, we usually listen to Ozric Tentacles, Dead Congregation, Opeth, Mortiferum and Spectral Voice.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for featuring us on your website. We would love to hear what your readers think of our music and we are very approachable if anyone wants to reach out to us through our Instagram: @bloodbrainbarrier_metal. We hope, our music is inspirational to other musicians in terms of experimenting with songwriting and is also able to take the listener on their own journey.

Eternal Dissonance Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project? Hello, first of all thanks a lot for this interview and interest in this project, it means a lot. Eternal Dissonance is a One Man band, an instrumental Atmospheric black metal project from Mallorca (Spain). Formed back in 2019, where I can reflect one of my personal visions of music, in a more ambiental, melancholic and nostalgic way. 2.In June you have a new album coming out, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past? I like to think it’s an evolution of the previous stuff, production has improved a lot since the first album and I try to evolve in that aspect with every new work. In terms of composition, while the first album (Winds of Melancholy) was more in the vein of ambient/atmospheric black metal and the second EP (Enlightened Passage) was more “post rock’, this new Album is a mix of those styles where I blend aggression and epicness of black metal and the melancholy and dynamics of Post-rock. 3.You also have a background playing death metal, do you consider yourself a very diverse musician when it comes to playing different extreme metal genres? Yes I am in two Death metal projects, Neglected and Xenoautopsy. I love extreme metal, Death Metal and Black Metal are my main genres. If I had time I would be in much more projects! 4.So far with this project all of the music has been instrumental, are you open to using vocals or lyrics on future releases? Absolutely, if the time comes and the song calls for vocals, of course. 5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Eternal Dissonance'? It doesn’t have an special meaning, it just appeared and thought it was a well fitting name for the project and the music it represents. 6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover/ The artwork was made by Gragoth of Luciferium Graphics, he also made the artwork for the album Lost in Uncertainty of my other black metal project Wounded Soul. It represents the nature and a path to the infinite, which represents the Album title “Through the Endless” 7.With this project you record everything by yourself but have experience working with other musicians in other bands, do you prefer to work solo? It depends, working solo is cool because you have control over everything and there’s no pressure, working with other musicians can be harder because there are more minds and ideas on the project… but on the other hand you learn a lot from them and playing with people it’s really cool and fun, instead of playing only by yourself. 8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal? I know Eternal Dissonance it’s not that classical black metal, but overall it has good reviews and it seems that people like the music, couldn’t be happier about that. 9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that you are a part of? A lot of work! A month ago the Slamming Brutal Death Metal project Xenoautopsy released it’s debut album “Irreversible Anthropocide” via “Inherited Suffering Records” And with the Brutal Death metal band Neglected (which we play Live) we are taking some time to compose our debut album (we already have an EP called “Acts of Depravity”, released via Brutal Mind) which we plan to hit the studio at the start of 2026. Lastly, Wounded Soul, we have some material for our second album, but nothing finished yet. 10.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future? I hope releasing a lot of music and play live in a lot of places! 11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays? I really take inspiration from post black metal and Depressive Black metal mainly, such as bands like Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Advent Sorrow, Deafheaven, Sunken… And nowadays I'm mainly listening to a mix of Black and Death metal such as Psychonaut 4, Soulless, Defeated Sanity, Gorgasm… 12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts? Just Wanted to thank you guys for the interest and also to the people that keeps supporting my music and takes the time to give it a listen!

YHWH Interview

1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

At the start, YHWH was supposed to be my one-woman band, a mere project among others. I still had unused songs from previous bands, some were rather old and I simply wanted to record them. I asked my brother Schem HaMephorash if he was interested to be a part of it. In order to lighten the workload, he later asked S.M. Goatritual if he was available to play guitars on our first EP "Tetragrammaton". We welcome anyone who wants to play with us, as long as they can put their egos aside: YHWH is something peaceful, we are quiet and discreet people and do not want to spend our time managing morons as we all did in the past. We play music for the love of music, nothing else: we do not contribute to gossips and do not want to be "brothers" with everyone, we leave that to Manowar.

2. In April you had released an ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

I never planned to sound like this, or like that, in any band. YHWH is an extreme metal band influenced mostly by black and death metal, which is not a scoop... Despite of this, our soon to be recorded next EP will be more "rock'n'roll": I no longer recognize myself into what we proposed on "Tetragrammaton", even if "Burden of Flesh" is my favourite song on it.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

I wrote about lots of topics, which includes among others horror, astral projection, occultism... but what I do best is writing about hatred, misanthropy, depression, and the associated lexical field... which is a paradox because I am a very positive person, but as a human I cannot love unconditionally the whole time. Our next EP will feature, for example, a song about speciesism, which is to my eyes the root of all evil on this planet. Art is a good way to voice your opinion and influence people, I mean... positively. I am fed up with all these morons who spread inepsy, intolerance and violence. Because of a small amount of people, in a lot of places, the "scene" is not fun anymore and there is a lot of rivalry: they decree which music is good or not, you always have to think twice and put a filter on everything you say... fuck these clowns. If they call us "posers" or "gay" because we do not want to a part of this, we do not care: my music collection does not launch commercials between songs.

4. Both the band name and the ep title have a qabalistic tone, do any of the band members have any interest in the occult?

We are all interested by occultism, on different levels. Schem HaMephorash has a Ph.D. in religious sciences and theology. We collect occult works and grimoires since a long time, some members of our family are in contact with real occultists, and they do not wear bullet belts nor black metal shirts with pentagrams on it...

Actually, even our last name is the one of a demon: our grandmother told us that one of our ancestors was the child of a witch who had a sexual intercourse with that demon at a black mass. True or not, we will probably never know...

Occultism in Thailand is very interesting, I know personally an ajarn who owns a lot of amulets, he made me discover a lot of things about black magic as kuman thong, among others. Their mythology and folklore include many ghosts, spirits, and other fascinating creatures as krasue, for example.

5. Can you tell us a little bit more about the sigil that is presented on the ep cover?

Schem HaMephorash came with the idea. It is an original design inspired by goetia. There is not much to say about it.

6. The band members live in both Belgium and Thailand, what impact does this have on the musical style that you play?

It does not influence a lot of things actually: I do not try to sound "thai" when I compose songs. I was born as a Belgian citizen, but my heart belongs to Thailand. I came here, as Schem HaMephorash, because of muay thai at the start... Even if Asians are probably the worst animal abusers ever, Thailand is the place where I feel happy and free, but no place is perfect. The impact could be about lyrics, not about our musical style.

7. Can you tell us a little bit more about the masks the band members wear in the promo pics?

We want people to focus on the music instead of its members. Too many people judge the quality of a band only by its lineup. We played with "famous" musicians, here and there, and some of them are nothing but opportunists, expecting all the work being done by their "slaves": you can believe me, this is not always a privilege to play with some people... The masks allow everyone to be on the same level, no matter who you are and what you stand for.

8. Does the band have any interest in doing live shows?

Schem HaMephorash and myself are bored about tours and concerts. I would probably not play live, but who knows what future will bring to YHWH... If reactions are satisfying we could consider doing live shows. I teach muay thai here daily, this is my job, and we are always fully booked: until proven otherwise, it would be without me.

9. On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

This is only the beginning, we are nowhere for now. I see lots of "likes" everywhere, but our Instagram account does not have a lot of followers. It is difficult to quantify our success worldwide, as we are still waiting for our EP to be released physically. To our eyes, digital means nothing. If I want to release digital only music, I can do it without a label. We are not so patient people and it is a bit "frustrating"... I guess we will see an improvement when "Tetragrammaton" will be available in record shops. I chose to start with something more "appealing", but I am pretty sure our second EP "Khatha" will be more appreciated.

10. When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

The best way to look as idiots would be planning things that do not happen. I have to be "rid" of all these old songs at first through EPs, then we will consider doing an album which will be far superior to our current material. We still have songs for two more EPs and a split album.

It would be nice if YHWH becomes an important band, but if not I do not care: music is a lottery, you drown among thousands of bands. Some become famous for good reasons, some by chance, and some have brown lips because they lick asses... The most important is being happy, not famous. I personally know "famous" people, surrounded by hypocrites, you know... Most of them are depressed and deeply boring.

11. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I am a huge fan of Autopsy/Abscess, I listen to it almost everyday. Rush is probably my favourite band ever, they are in my opinion the perfect mix between technique and accessibility, and are the reason why I became a musician... Canada's finest, with Anvil! To name a few, I listen currently a lot to Carpathian Forest, Darkthrone, early Death, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Turbonegro, many swedish death metal bands as Bastard Priest, Carnage, Death Breath, Dismember, Nihilist, Nirvana 2002, ..., some older music as Armageddon, Black Widow, Boston, Cactus, Coven, Leaf Hound, High Tide, Jenghiz Khan, King Crimson, Roy Orbison, Sam Gopal, Scorpions, ... I am of course interested by lots of bands into the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, US heavy metal (Agent Steel, Brocas Helm, Chastain, Cirith Ungol, Détente, Dream Death, Griffin, Halloween, Leather Nun, Manilla Road, Medieval Steel, Metal Church, Omen, Pentagram, Riot, Savage Grace, Scepter, Sentinel Beast, Trouble, Warlord, ...), punk related music as Amebix, Antichrist Demoncore, Charles Bronson, Cro-Mags, Crumbsuckers, Despise You, Discharge, Dishammer, Disrupt, Doom, Extreme Noise Terror, Gorilla Biscuits, Hubble Bubble, Hirax, Infest, Judge, Killing Time, Kraut, Leeway, Minor Threat, Negative Approach, Plasmatics, Poison Idea, Repulsion, Sacrilege, Shelter, Siege, Spazz, early Voivod, Warzone, Youth of Today, Vatican Commandos, Verbal Abuse, ... I believe there is good in every style, I listen regularly to classical music, jazz, and some "oddities" as Abruptum, Diamanda Galás, Throbbing Gristle, even Cher... I could talk about music for hours.

12. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thanks a lot for this opportunity, wishing you all the best. Feel free to add us on Instagram and contact us by e-mail at thetrueyhwh@outlook.com

Anzv Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

We've been intensely immersed into shaping the release of Kur on every level—musical, visual, and conceptual. We've been ensuring content supports and adds to the story, including the artwork, live visuals, and videos—especially those created for the three singles we released ahead of the album. Each of these singles—SHAMASH, IMDUGUD AND EDIMMU—was accompanied by a visual offering that acts as an invitation to descend into Kur. These videos aren’t just promotional tools, they’re integral to the ritual, each serving as a gateway into the world we’re constructing. Working closely with Edge Circle Productions, we’re setting the stage for this descent to reach those ready to confront its depths. Each track is tied to the mythos we’re constructing—from the foreboding omens in “EKUR” to the final invocation in “ANZÛ.” It’s more than music—it’s a ritual, and every element has been meticulously summoned.

________________________________________

2. You have a new album coming out towards the end of May—musically, how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Kur is a descent, not just thematically but structurally. Compared to Gallas, this album is more planned, more layered—an evolution in terms of intensity and atmosphere. We gave room for songs such as "ALÛ" and "EDIMMU" to breathe and haunt, embracing dissonance and silence as much as sound. Vocally, it’s more diverse—there's a wider emotional and dynamic range reflecting the album's journey through despair, transcendence, and doom. The intention was to echo the psychological and spiritual disintegration the words speak of.

3. A lot of your lyrics and the band's name cover Sumerian and Middle Eastern mythology. Can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this topic?

Our interest in these mythologies stems from their bitter realism. Sumerian cosmology does not offer any redemption—there is no judgment in Kur, only consequence. This can be seen in "SAHAR," where the soul is released into nothingness, leaving only dust and silence. These old myths are translated to modern existential horror. Ereshkigal, Imdugud, and Lamashtu are metaphors—not forces, archetypes of unstoppable decay and transformation. Their stories urge us to confront what lies underneath—our fear, our death, our insignificance.

I first encountered the concept of Kur while researching Sumerian texts for another project, and the rawness of this afterlife really struck me. It’s a place not defined by moral judgment but by the inevitability of death itself. That sense of bleak inevitability and existential reflection inspired the atmosphere of Kur—a place where death is just another part of existence, and the journey through it is both haunting and strangely alive. That contradiction—something as final as death still brimming with mythic intensity—shaped the way we approached the album. It's less about the end and more about the confrontation with what we carry into that void.

4. You’ve also mentioned an interest in occultism. Do you have an interest in other occult traditions besides the Sumerian and Mesopotamian ones?

Absolutely. While Mesopotamian themes form the heart of Kur, we do borrow from other traditions too. These traditions often chart the same universal realities—descent, initiation, and disintegration of the ego. In "NAMTARU," you see that cry for change: "Let Thy power onto me, set me free, take away my finity." We are not interested in dogma—we're drawn to those universal symbols that offer guidance for inner disintegration and transcendence.

5. Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

The artwork, created by our vocalist A., represents the descent into Kur—the boundary between the visible and invisible. A inverted, doomed version of life on earth. A ziggurat comes into view, reminiscent of "ETEMENANKI," where the divine meets the void. The visual landscape is stripped of human presence, corresponding with the harsh bleakness of songs such as "SHAMASH" and "NAMTARU." It was imperative that the cover served as a glyph—something that speaks to the soul outside of titles or words. The narrative unfolds through impression and form.

6. In promo and live pics the band members wear cloaks. Can you tell us what this represents?

Actually, we don't wear cloaks. A. only has an appearance that somewhat resembles a cloak at first glance, but it's surely not a cloak. We never had our will to appear that way. We’re more focused on creating a sense of connection between music, words, and the Sumerian myth as if emerging from the depths of Kur—only to return to them once more.

7. What are some of the best shows the band has played over the years, and how would you describe your stage performance?

Some of our most significant performances were indeed in our two tours and Gallas' anniversary concerts. On our first tour, the show in Limoges at Rock Metal Camp stands out — we came out onto the stage and were met with an ocean of faces. The organization truly believed in ANZV from the very beginning, trusting that we could deliver a powerful performance, and that made all the difference.

On the tour with Gaerea, besides the enrichment in touring experience and companionship, Barcelona and Palma left a lasting mark on us — and, apparently, on the audience too. People still reach out asking when we’ll return, which is deeply humbling.

The Gallas anniversary concerts in Porto and Lisbon were unforgettable. The reaction of the audience left us speechless — their capacity to absorb each second of the performance was something exceptional. It was pure communion.

When we talk about our stage performance, we prefer to let the words of others speak for us. Those who have seen us perform often describe our shows as ritualistic experiences that fuse the raw, untamed essence of northern winds with a mysterious, ancient Mesopotamian atmosphere. They point out the originality in every element — from the thought behind the subject matter to the design, clothing, and body painting, to the music itself. There is particular emphasis placed on Ahnum's stage presence, typically described as striking and deeply expressive — less an act than an embodiment. The full line-up, when assembled onstage, is said to build an oppressing and immersive environment that is at once chilling and captivating.

Audiences anticipate something greater than the concert from us. Our shows are not concerts — they're experiences of all the senses, transporting the viewer into a transcendent experience within the black and ancient currents of Mesopotamia.

8. Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

Yes. We have booked two release shows in May and June and we are working hard to get a greater European tour. Germany, Netherlands and Belgium are the destination point due to its huge support for ANZV. Our live setup is designed to play out the Kur journey—a fusion of sonic mass and visual immersion. Hope we get some nice opportunities to set that journey…

9. The new album is going to be released on Edge Circle Productions. How would you compare working with this label to Exorcize Records and Alone Productions?

Both Alone and Exorcize played a vital part in our early phase — they brought Gallas into the light with sincerity and passion. We will be eternally grateful for the support. As ANZV evolved, though, it became clear we had to make a larger stride in professionalism and visibility. The project was demanding more of us — not just creatively, but structurally. It was time to move out of the DIY phase and to accept a greater commitment.

Edged Circle provided us with exactly that. Their support has been seamless, and their trust in our vision absolute. With Kur, we had envisioned the label wouldn't drop the album like another record, but as a complete work — an artifact. Edged Circle understood it from day one, and they've presented the vessel and the belief to elevate this next chapter of ANZV.

10. On a worldwide level, how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

The worldwide response has been intense and sincere. Listeners often mention feeling a deep emotional and spiritual impact — a sense of weight, mystery, and confrontation. Whether through the chaos of Edimmu, the duality of Isimud, or the void in Inane, people connect with the raw honesty and mythological depth. ANZV isn’t just heard — it’s felt. We’re not trying to be accessible—we’re trying to be honest.

11. Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects?

Both myself (M.) and T. are involved in another project called Epping Forest, which I started back in 1997 along with Menthor, who is currently in Enthroned and Lvcifyre. However, Epping Forest is currently focused mainly on studio work due to geographical limitations and the time we dedicate to ANZV. For the time being, ANZV is our focus — not just musically, but philosophically and spiritually. Kur had requested complete immersion, and we did not take long to answer that call.

12. Where do you see the band heading musically in the future?

It’s still very early to make concrete projections about the future direction of the band. Right now, we’re fully focused on promoting the new album as much as possible and remain open to new opportunities to perform in other countries. That said, we've already begun to engage, perhaps on an unconscious level, some ideas that may indicate directions we could head next — but on any fixed musical path, there's nothing set in place to reveal.

13. What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

We believe that true creative inspiration comes from embracing a vast spectrum of musical expressions, not limited by orthodox boundaries. Exploring diverse styles opens doors to new perspectives and emotional depths, nourishing our individual spirits and, in turn, shaping the evolution of ANZV’s sound. It’s through this openness that the seeds of new compositions are sown—reflecting the complexity and richness of our sonic journey itself.

For that reason, we intentionally avoid narrowing down our influences to specific bands or genres. Naming a few would do a disservice to the vastness of what truly moves us. Inspiration can come from the droning breath of ritualistic black metal, the tension in avant-garde indie music, the violence of death metal, or even the silence between notes. What matters most is the emotional truth behind the sound—not its label.

14. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for this space. This album is not a collection of songs—it’s a path, a descent into Kur. It doesn’t offer escape, but confrontation. As we write in “SHAMASH”:

“Let your eyes behold death. Let your eyes glimpse the breast of Aruru, your creator.”

To our listeners: step forward without fear. You may not return the same.
