This is a review of another recording from Mount Depression which continues the depressive style of black metal from previous releases and the ep was recorded live and self released in 2022 and called "The Live And The Knife Option: Live In Hatefest III".
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep while melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing, All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the vocals being mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
Live audience reaction been also be heard in between tracks while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style when they are utilized. Guitar orientated noises can also be heard on one of the tracks along with most of the music sticking to either a slow or mid tempo direction and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
On this recording Mount Depression remains true to the depressive black metal style that has been a huge part of their earlier releases. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover depression, solitude and suicide themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Mount Depression and if you are a fan of depressive black metal, you should check out this live ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Deal" Leaving The Field Of Existence" and "Dissapear". 8 out of 10.
