Eisregen/Krebskoline/Massacre Records/2025 Album Re-Issue Review

This  is  a  review  of  an  earlier  album  from  Germany's  Eisregen  which  showed  their  early  mixture  of  black  and  dark  metal  and  the  album  was  originally  released  in  1998  and  called  "Krebskoline"  which  will  be  re-issued  in  September  by  massacre  Records  and  also  adds  in  live  songs  as  bonus  tracks.

Rain  and  thunder  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  adding  in  some  air  raid  sirens  on  clean  playing  which  also  returns  on  later  tracks.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  heavier  sections  of  the  recording  bring  in  the  classic  dark  metal  style  and  both t he  keyboards  and  viola  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.

A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  blast  beats  are  also  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  album.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  when  tremolo  picking  id  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  also  give  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  clean  singing  is  also  introduced  briefly  on  the  live  tracks  as  well  as  some  growls  also  being  utilized  at  times.

On  this  recording  Eisregen  took  black  and  dark  metal  and  mixed  them  together  as  well  as  adding  in  other  elements  which  also  made  their  music  sound  more  different  and  original  in  the  mid  90's.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  are  a  concept  album  based  upon  post  apocalyptic  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  album  from  Eisregen  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  mid  90's  German  black  and  dark  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Vorabend  der  Schlacht"  "Krebskoline"  "Abglanz  vom  Livht"  and  "Nachtgeburt".  8  out  of  10.

Air raid  sirens and  heavy  guitars  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later and  a  few  seconds  later  melodic  riffing makes its  presence  known  on  the  recording  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody  while  the  vocals  have  more  of  a  grim  approach  to  the  genre.

Symphonic  elements  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  blast  beats  are  utilized  and  it  also  gives  the recording  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  feeling and  on  later  tracks  clean  singing  can  be heard  in  some  parts  of  the  songs  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Eisregen/Flotenfre/Massacre Records/2014 EP Review

Germany's  Eisregen  have  return  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  band  continuing  their  original  sounding  mixture  of  dark  and  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  ep  "Fletenfre"  which  was  released  by  Massacre  Records.

Drums  beats  start  off  the  ep  being  adding  in  synths,  heavy  guitars  and  bass  and    grim  black  metal  vocals/screams  and  the  music  also  has  elements  of  symphonic,  synth  pop  and  electronic  music  and  the  music  sticks  to  mostly  a  mid  paced  black'n'roll  direction.

On  the  later  tracks  guitar  leads  and  spoken  word  parts  become  a  part  of  the  music  along  with  a  small  amount  of  clean  singing  and  the  band  also  adds  folk  instruments  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  all  5  of  the  songs  have  a  very  different  sound  to  them  while  you  can  still  tell  it  is  the  same  band  on  all  of  them  and  on  the  last  song  the  band  speeds  up  a  bit  and  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats.

Eisregen  remain  true  to  their  sound  and  this  recording  only  came  out  months  after  the  full  length  which  must  of  meant  they  had  plenty  of  material  written  during  the  time,  the  production   sounds  very  professional  and  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  death,  gore,  cannibalism,  necrophilia  and  murder  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Eisregen  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band, you  should  enjoy  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Tausendschweiner'  and  "Mordlust".  8  out  of  10.

Eisregen/Todestage/Massacre Records/2013 CD Review

This  is  a  review  of  another  album  from  Eisregen  which  continues  their  original  dark/black  metal  sound  of  previous  recordings  with  the  album  being  called  "Todesttage"  and  released  by  Massacre  Records.

"Waldgott" which  is  the  first  song on  the  album  opens  up  with  dark  sounding  violins  along  with  some  black  metal  vocals  and  drums  a  few  seconds  later  and  then  keyboards  and  deeper  vocals  are  added  in  along  with  heavy  guitar  riffs  as w ell  as  some  guitar  solos  and  leads  and  then  going  into  a  faster  direction  with  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats  and  the  song  closes  with  arm  pit  noises.

"Todestag"  starts up  with  heavy,  mid  paced  guitar  riffs  and drums before adding  in  bass  guitars,  violins  and  black  metal  vocals  and  after  a  minute  the  music  speeds  up  along  with  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  and  then  slowing  down  with  a  brief  guitar  lead.

"DSDSL"  begins  with  spoken  word  parts  before  adding  in  high  pitched  screams,  drums  and  guitar  leads  which  also  lead  to  bass  guitars  and  deeper  vocals  and  a  minute  later  the  music  speeds  up  a  bit  along  with  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats  and  then  slowing   down  again  and   getting  more  melodic  which  also  leads  to  the  song  alternating  between  fast  and  slow  parts.

"Hoellenfahrt"  opens  up  with  fast  black  metal  guitar  riffs  and  blast  beats  from  the  drums  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  riffing  before  adding  in  grim  sounding  high  pitched  screams  and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  the  music  goes  into  a  slower  direction  along  with  a  small  amount  of  melodic  guitar  leads  before  returning  to  a  faster  direction.

"Lang  Lebe  Die Nadel"  kicks  in  with  melodic  guitar  riffs,  drums  and  black  metal  screams  and  a  few  seconds  alter  violins  kick  in  and  towards  the  end  there is  a  brief  use  of  melodic  clean  singing  vocals  along  with  a  brief  sue  of  guitar  leads.

"Familienbande"  hits  it  off  with  fast  raw  and  primitive  old  school  black  metal  guitar  riffs  that  also  utilize  melody  along  with  drums  and  grim  vocals  before  adding  in  blast  beats and  then t he  song  slows  down  for  a  few seconds  and  adds  in  a  melodic  guitar  lead.

Oh  Wie  Sie  Schrie"  makes  its  way  in  symphonic  sounding  keyboards  before  adding  in  melodic  guitar  leads  and  black  metal  vocals  which  in  return  also  lead  to  drums,  bass  and  heavier  guitar  riffs  and  towards  the  end  the  guitars  start  utilizing  more  melodic  riffing.

"Mitternacht"  is  brought  in  with  electronic  music  influenced  keyboards  before  adding  in  heavier  industrial  guitar  and  bass  riffs  along  with  drums  which  also  lead  to  black  metal  vocals  and  melodic  guitar  riffing.

Eisregen/Krebskollectiom/Massacre Records/2012 CD Compilation Review

Eisregen  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  has  been  feautured  before  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style  that  I  would  describe  as  being  weird  and  atmospheric  black/dark  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  compilation  album  "Krebskollection"  which  was  released  by  Massacre  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  not  much  in  the  way  of  blast  beats,  while  the  keyboards  bring  a  very  atmospheric,  psychedelic  and  progressive  sound  to  the  music  with  a  couple  of  songs  having  an  industrial  feeling  as  well  as  some  violins  being  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  some  other  instruments,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Rhythm  guitars range  from slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black/dark  metal  riffs  that a re  not  either  too  primitive  or  mainstream  sounding  with  a  good  amount  of  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  soft  and  clean  playing, while  the  lead  guitars  which  are  only  utilized  briefly  are  very  old  school  sounding  heavy  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  add  more  variety  to  the  music.

Vocals range  from  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  to  deep  growls  with  a  brief  use  of  clean  singing  and  spoken  word  parts,  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  death,  gore,  murder  and  necrophillia,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  in  addition  the  last  song  is  a  live  recording.

In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  compilation  from  Eisegren  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  add  this  album  to  your  collection.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sharlachrotes  Klied" "Abglanz  Vorn  Licht"  "Mien  Eichensarg"  and  "Born  Dead".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Eisregen/Rostart/Massacre Records/2011 CD Review

Eisregen are a band from Germany that has had their previous recording reviewed in this zine that plays a very dark and demented form of atmospheric dark/black metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "Rostart" which was released by Massacre Records.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown in, while the keyboards bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music , as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are more raw and primitive sounding than the older recordings but you can still hear a  lot of their older sound on this recording with some influences from other styles of music, while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking and full chords they add more variety to the music .

Vocals range from grim and high pitched black metal screams mixed in with some clean singing vocals with some deep growls being thrown in at times, while the lyrics are written in German and cover death, necrophilia, cannibalism, perversion and murder, as for the production it has a very powerful, heavy and professional sound to it.

In my opinion this is another great album from Eisregen and if you where a fan of their previous releases, you will not be dissapointed. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Shackal-Ode An Die Streubombe" "Blutvater" "Kathi Das Kuchenschwein" and "Fahless Ross". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Eisregen/Schlangenson/Massacre Records/2010/CD Review

Eisregen are a band that has been around since the 90's that plays an original style of atmospheric black metal and this is a review of their 2010 album "Schlangson" which was released by Massacre Records.

Drums are a mixture between slow to mid paced beats with some fast playing and the occasional blast beats while the keyboards have a tragic and atmospheric sound that have some progressive music influences with some piano being utilized at times as for the bass playing it follows the riffs coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars are mostly black metal riffs that range from slow to fast with a lot of melody and some parts have a black'n'roll as well as doom metal feel to them, while the lead guitars have a lot of 70's influences in the solos.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams as well as the occasional death metal sounding grow with some clean singing while the lyrics are all written in German, as for the production on this album it sounds very professional and you can hear all of the instruments that are on the album.

In my opinion this is another  good album from Eisregen and it sounds a lot different than their older material, if you are a fan of Atmospheric black metal with a rock edge you should check this album out. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blut Aus " "Kai Aus Der Kiste" and "Das Allerschlimmste". RECOMMENDED  BUY.
