Mother Augusta/Labyrinths Of Pain/Talheim Records/2026 Full Length Review

Mother  Augusta  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Labyrinths  Of  Pain"  which  will  be  released  in  November by   Talheim  Records.

A  very  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and when t he  music  speeds  up  a  lot  of  blast b eats  can  be  heard.

When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  a  couploe  of  songs  also  adds  in a   good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  At  times  the  recording  also  goes  into  more  of  an  atmospheric  direction  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style ,  clean  playing  is  also  added  on  some  of  the  tracks  and  they  also  add  in  an  instrumental.

On  this  recording  Mother  Augusta  brings  out  a  very  modern,  melancholic  and  atmospheric  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  reflections,  introspection,  suffering  and  memories.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Mother  Augusta  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Deep,  Dark,  Silent"  and  "Labyrinths  Of  Pain".  8  out  of  10.

Mother Augusta/The Burning Sun Of Despair/2015 EP Review

Mother  Augusta  are  a solo  project  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  ep  "The  Burning  Sun  Of  Despair".

Clean  playing  and  atmospheric  sounds  start  off  the  ep  and  a  few  seconds  later  the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  along  with  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  grim  screams  and  the  music  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  melodic  guitar  leads  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

Some  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length  and  a  great  portion  of  the  music  goes  for  more  of  a  melodic  and  modern  style  of  black  metal  and  clean  playing  also  makes  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to them  and  the  music  captures  atmosphere  without  ever  having  to  resort  to  synths.

Mother  Augusta  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  guitar  orientated,  raw,  melodic  and  atmospheric  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  depression,  solitude,  nihilism  and  love.

In  my  opinion  Mother  Augusta  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mother  Augusta"  and  "Cold  Sound  Of  Void".  8  out  of  10.
