Hellstorm Apocalypse are a band from Australia that plays a dark mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their self titled 2025 demo which will be released in November by Sphere Of Apparition Records.
Ritualistic spoken word samples start off the demo before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Synths also mix in with the heavier sections of the songs at times and add in a symphonic touch while the riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies.
Vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era along with the solos and leads also remaining true to an old school yet melodic direction as well as one track also being very long and epic in length and the demo closes with a cover of Armoured Angel's "Hymn of hate".
Hellstorm Apocalypse plays a musical style that goes back to the early 90's era of black and death metal. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover demonology, occultism, darkness and apocalyptic themes.
In my opinion Hellstorm Apocalypse are a very great sounding dark mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nocturnal Deviltry" and "Turn To The Dark". 8 out of 10.
