Erotica/The Undoing/Fiadh Productions/2024 EP Review

 

  Erotica  are  a  solo  project  from  Chicago,  Illinois  that  plays  a  raw  mixture  of  black  metal  and  dungeon  synth  with  a  musical  style  they  refer  to  as  'keller  black  metal'  and  this  is  a  review  of her  2024  ep  "The  undoing"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Fiadh  Productions.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  programmed  blast b eats.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  emtal  screams  while  synths  also  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  as  well  as  the  music  also  capturing  a  very  lo-fi  atmosphere  at  times.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also h ear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  short  in  length  Elements  of  dungeon  synth  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  they  also  bring  in  a  cover  of  Jethro  Tull's  "Cross  Eyed  Mary".

  Erotica  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  raw  black  metal  and  keeler  dungeon  synth  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  her  own.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  witchcraft  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Erotica  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  raw  black  metal  and  keller  dungeon  synth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Everlasting  Will  Od  The  Lady  Of  Lust"  and  "Buried  In  Her  Nightgown".  8  out  of  10.
