Siaskel are a band from Chile that plays a very fast, raw and aggressive form of black/death metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Jatentolpen Thejin".
Thunder sounds and tribal chants start off the album before going into a more fast and aggressive black/death metal direction along with blast beats and a mixture of screams and growls and after awhile melody is added into certain sections of the recording and after awhile the band starts bringing in a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
You can hear a lot of raw black metal being mixed in with brutal and old school death metal throughout the recording as well as a great amount of chaotic speed and aggression beign displayed on all of the tracks and as the album progresses melodic guitar solos and leads are added into certain sections of the recording.
As the album progresses sounds of wind and clean playing are brought into the music before returning back to a heavier direction as well as adding some old school thrash which you can hear in the bass guitar structures at times and Swedish death metal elements into their musical sound and you can hear some influences from Marduk and Belphegor in the faster sections of the bands guitar riffing.
Siaskel take the most aggressive sides of black and death metal and combine them to create a very brutal sound that also still utilizes some melody, the production sounds very powerful and heavy for being a self released recording while the lyrics are written in the Ona language and cover Selk'nam Mythology, Cosmos, Death and Cultural issues.
In my opinion Siaskel are a very great sounding fast and aggressive black/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Howens" "Habshi" and "Kenos". 8 out of 10.
