Thy Primordial/Pestilence Upon Mankind/Dissonace/2018 CD Re-Issue Review

  This  is  the  final  review  of  a  recording  from  Thy  Primordial  which  is  also  in  the  fast  and  melodic  style  of  Swedish  black  metal  with  the  album  being  released  originally  in  2004  and  called  "Pestilence  Upon  Mankind"  which  will  be  re-issued  in  June  of  2018  by  Dissonance  as  a  a  part  of  a  box  set.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off the  album  before  going  into  a  faster  direction  which  also  use s  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  to  give  the  songs  a  more  raw  feeling  while the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  a  few  growls  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  very  powerful.

  Elements  of  death  metal  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  also  being  used  briefly  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion and  clean  playing  is  added  onto  the  closing  track.

  On  this  recording  Thy  primordial  expanded  on  their  fast  and  melodic  Swedish  style  of  black  metal  by  adding  in  a  touch  of  death  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  darkness  and  misanthropy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Thy  primordial  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  fast  and  melodic  Swedish  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  re-release.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Pestilence  Upon  Mankind"  "Death  Is  Mercy"  "Soul  Affliction"  and  "Revel  In  Misanthropy".  8  out  of  10.

Thy Primordial/The Crowning Carnage/Dissonance/2018 CD Re-Issue Review

  This  is  another  review  of  a  recording  from  Sweden's  Thy  Primordial  which  continues  the  raw  and  melodic  style  of  black  metal  from previous  releases  and  the  album  was  originally  released  in  2002  and  called  "The  Crowning  Carnage"  with  the  re-issue  coming  out  in  June  of  2018  as  a  part  of  a  box  set  by  Dissonance.

  A  very  fast  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  solos  and  leads  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  tremolo  picking  giving  the  songs  a more  raw  feeling  and  spoken word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  introducing  clean  playing  onto  the  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  small  amount  of  growls  can  be  heard and  spoken  word  parts  are  also  used  briefly  and  they  close  the  album  with  an  instrumental  which  also adds  in  a  small  amount  of  sci-fi  and  avant  garde  elements.

  On  this  recording  Thy  Primordial  remained  true  to  their  fast  and  melodic  style  of  Swedish  black  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  apocalyptic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Thy  Primordial  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  fast  and  melodic  Swedish  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Genuine  hatred"  "Worldecay"  and  "Menace  of  Human  Waste".  8  out  of  10.

Thy Primordial/Where Only Seasons Mark The Path Of Times/Dissonance/2018 CD Re-Issue Review

  Thy  Primordial  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  has  had  an  album  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1997  album  "Where  Only  Seasons  Mark  The  Path  of  Times"  which  will  be  re-issued  in  June  by  Dissonance  as  a  part  of  a  box  cd  set  called  "The  Blackend  Years".

  A  very  heavy  yet  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  use  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  songs  a  more  raw  feeling  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sounding  very  powerful  and  the  vocals  are  also  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  A  great  amount  of  melody  can  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  as  the  album  progresses  rain  and  thunder  sounds  as  well  as  some  acoustic  guitars  and  clean  vocals  are  also used  briefly on a  couple  of  tracks  but also  focusing  mostly  on  a heavier  sound.

  On  this  recording  Ty  Primordial  played  a  style  of  black  metal  that  was  very  fast,  raw  and  melodic  in  the  true  Swedish  tradition,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  Swedish  and  English  and  cover  evil,  darkness,  death,  apocalypse  and  misanthropy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  was  a  very  great  sounding  recording  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  fast  Swedish  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Conquest"  "Forthcoming  Centuries" "Hail  Unto  Thee...Who  Travels  Over  Heavens"  and  "Dodskuggan".  8  out  of  10.

Thy Primordial/The Heresy Of An Age Of Reason/Pulverised Records/2000 CD Review

  Thy  Primordial  where  a  band  from  Sweden  that  played  a  very  fast  form  of  Swedish  black  metal  with  a  melodic  edge  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  200  album  "The  Heresy  Of  An  Age  Of  Reason"  which  was  released  by  Pulverised  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  sound  very  powerful.

    Rhythm  guitars  range from  slow,  mid paced  to  fast  Swedish  style  black  metal  riffs  that very  dark,  heavy  and  brutal  sounding  with  a  great  amount  of  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing in  addition  some  of the  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  are  little  to  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

  Vocals  are  all  high  pitched  black  metal  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Darkness,  Occultism,  Evil  and  Antichrist  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  Thy  Primordial  where  a  very  great  sounding  Swedish  style  black  metal  band  with  a  melodic  edge  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ex  Opers  Operatu"  "Tyrannize"  and  "The  Enigma  Of  The  Fall".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
