The Oracle/Reign A.D/The Mountain Peaks Of Prophecy/Repose Records/2023 Split Album Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  U.S.A's  the  oracle  and  the  United  Kingdom's  Reign  A.D  called  "The  Mountain  Peaks  Of  Prophecy"  which  will b e  released  in  December  by  Repose  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  The  Oracle  a  duo  that  plays  a  ritualistic  mixture  of  industrial,  dark  ambient  and  electronic  music.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  electronic  music  beats  along  with  some  dark  ambient  style  synths  a  few  seconds  later.  Programmed  beats  and  industrial  elements  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  electric  guitars  also  add  in  some  metal  influences  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  its  ritualistic  moments  and  guitar  leads  are  also  added  in  briefly,  all  of  the  song s stick  to  an  instrumental  direction.

  In  my  opinion  The  Oracle  are  a  very  great  sounding  ritualistic  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  industrial and  electronic  music  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  duo.

  Next  up  is  Reign  A.D  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  very  progressive  form  of  occult  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  ritualistic  sounding  intro  which  also  adds  in  some  tribal  style  drums,  synths,  guitar  noises  and  whispered  vocals  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier,  progressive  and  dissonant  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling,.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments,  clear  vocals  and  clean  playing  are  also  used  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  show  some  inspirations  from  the  writings  of  St,  Cyprian  of  Antioch  and  cover  the  Demon  Kings.

  In  my  opinion  Reign  A.D  are  a  very  great  sounding  progressive  occult  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "A  Shadow  Flickers  Over  Head"  and  "Passing  Through  The  River".

  In  conclusion  i  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  ritual,  industrial,  dark  ambient  and  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Nachtgnawer featuring WulfSeer/Unholy Vampyric Supremacy/Purity Through Fire/2023 Collaboration EP Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  collaboration  between  Finland's  Nachtgnawer  and  WulfSeer  called  "Unholy  Vampyric  Supremacy"  which  will  be  released  on  September  22nd,  2023  by  Purity  Through  Fire  which  shows    a  very  raw  and  vampyric  style  of  black  metal  mixed  in  with  some  dark  ambient  and  dungeon  synth  style  instrumentals  and  interludes  in  between  each  track.

  Ritualistic  and  shamanistic  style  drum  beats  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  synths  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  adds  in  elements  of  dark  ambient  and  dungeon  synth  before  going  into a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Finnish  tradition.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  spoken  words  can  also b e  heard  briefly,  the  synths  also  add  in  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys.    

   

  Nightgnawler  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  old  school  and  vampyric  in  the  classic  Finnish  tradition  while  WulfSeer  a  solo  project  brings  in  more of  an  instrumental  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  dungeon  synth.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and r aw  and  the  lyrics  cover  vampirism,  occultism,  death  and  misanthropy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  collaboration  between  Nachtgnawler  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  old  school  vampyric  black  metal,  dark  ambient  and  dungeon  synth,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ouroboros,  Diaboli"  and  "Black  Spears  Of  Misanthropy".  8  out  of  10.

Vrolok/Darlament Norvadian/V.H.P/Whisper Moon/Glorification of Darkness/Wolfmond Production/2022 4 Way Split CD Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  4  way  split  between  U.S.A's  Vrolok,  Mexico's  Whisper  Moon,  V.HP  and  El  Salvador's  Darlament  Norvadian  called  "Glorification  Of  Darkness"  which  was  released  by  Wolfmond  Production  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Vrolok  a  band  that  plays  a  dark  form  of  ambient.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  dark  soundscapes  and  classical  guitars  along  with  some  ambient  style  synths  a  few  seconds  later  as  well  as  adding  in  some  orchestration  and  both  of  their  tracks  are  also  instrumentals  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  Vrolok  are  a  very  great  sounding  tragic  and  dark  ambient  musical  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of t he  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Melancholic  Tear".

  Next  up  is  Darlament  Norvadian  a  band  that  plays  a  very old  school  and  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark,  heavy  yet  melodic  sound  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  is  also  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era.

  Throughout t heir  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Clean  playing  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  on  a few  tracks  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  guitar  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  history,  war,  hate  and  poetry  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  Darlament  Norvasian  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  old school  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should c heck  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dark  northern  Throne"  and  "Evenings".

  Next  up  is  V.H.P  a  band  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  emtal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  ritualistic  soundscapes  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  as  well  as  the  songs  also  mixing  in  a  decent  amount  of  90's  influences,  clean  playing  can  also b e  heard  on  their  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  paganism,  darkness  and  war  themes.

  In  my  opinion  V.H.P  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Return  Of  Hate  To  The  Pagan  God"  and  "Diabolical  War".

  Next  up  is  Whisper  Moon  a  band  that  plays  a  very  satanic  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  clean  playing  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  p[itched black  metal  screams  while  the  heavier  riffing  also  adds  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  the  songs  also  mix  in  a lot  of  90's  influences.

  When  the  music  speeds  up a   great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  growls  and  can  be  heard  briefly  and  horror  movie  style  synths  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Devil  Worship,  Occultism  and  Ritualistic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Whisper  Moon  are  a  very  great  sounding  satanic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of t his  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ritual  under  The  Moon"  and  "R.H.S  (Ritual  Hammer  Sacrifice)".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  i  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of r aw  and  old  school  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Texas's  Goatcraft  and  Plutonian  Shore  which  will  be released  in  September  by  Hessian  Form  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Goatcraft  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  neo-classical  and  ambient.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  dark  soundscapes  and  programmed  beats  which  also  gives the  music  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling.  When  synths  are  utilized  they  also  bring  in  elements  of  neo-classical  and  ambient  while  all  of  the  music  is  instrumental  and  all  of  the tracks  also  sound  very  different  from  each  other  and  the  production  also  sounds  very  dark  as  well  as  the  song  themes  dealing  with  space  and  planets.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Goatcraft  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  neo-classical  and  ambient,  you  should  check  out his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Mars".

  Next  up  is  Plutionian  Shore  a  band  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  occult  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  faster  sections  of   the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

Satanath/Striborg/Prisoners Of The Solar System/Grimm Distribution/Death Portal Studio/2020 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Russia's  Satanath  and  Striborg  called "Prisoners  Of  The  Solar  System"  which  will  be  released  on  May  31st  in  2020  as  a  joint  effort  between  Grimm  Distribution  and  Death  Portal  Studio  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Satanath  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  space music.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  dark  ambient  style  synths  which  also  use  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  while  most  of  his  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Elements  of  space  music  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  all  of  his  tracks  also  being  instrumentals.

  Programmed  beats  and  electronic  music  elements  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  his  recording.  One  track  also  introduces  atmospheric  sounding  drones  into  the  music  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  is  ritualistic  moments.  All  of  the  songs  sound  very  different  from  each  other  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Satanath  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient  and  space  music,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "To  Cosmic  Prisoner"  and  "Darkspace  Aura".

  Next  up  is  Striborg  a  solo  artist  who  started  out  playing  black  metal  but  on  this  recording  continues  his  blackwave  and  dark  ambient  style  he  started  on  his  previous  release.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  electronic  music  elements  while  also  adding  in  some  touches  of  80's  new  wave  and  darkwave.  All  of  the  drum  beats  are  also  programmed  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  screams  also  being  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  ambient  style  synths.

  Electric  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  a  great  portion  of  his  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Clean  goth  rock  style  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  some  real  drums  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  as  the  album  progresses  there  id  also  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  lyrics  cover  night,  misanthropy,  forests,  depression  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Striborg  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackwave  and  dark  ambient,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Interdimensional  Transcendence"  and  "Proceeding  From  A  Dark  Place".  8  out  of  10.

Panphage/Thul/Ginnheilagr/Nordvis Produktion/2017 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Germany's  Panphage  and  Thul  called  "Ginnheilagr"  which  was  originally  released  in  2016  and  we  be  re-issued  in  May  by  Nordvis  Produktion  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Thul  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  gloomy  form  of  dark  ambient  soundscapes,

  His  side  of the  split  starts  out  with  field  recordings  and  ambient  soundscapes  as  well  as  some  touches  of  pagan  and  ritualistic  music  and  all  of  the  songs  are  mostly  instrumental  and  also  mix  in  a  decent  amount  of  nature  sounds  and  a  good  portion  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length.

   Wildlife  sounds  are  also utilized  at  times  and  melodic  chanting  is  also  utilized  briefly  and  when  synths  are  utilized  they  give  the  music  a  more  atmospheric  feeling  while  shamanistic  style  drums  are  also  used  briefly  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  sounding  very  different  from  each  other  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  clean  yet  distorted  guitars  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  In  my  opinion  Thul  are  a  very  great  sounding  dark  pagan/ambient  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cannis"  and  "Ginnheilagr".


  Next  up  is  Panpahge  continue  the  pagan  style  of  black  metal  he  is  known  for.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  ritualistic  spoken  word  parts  and  melodic  guitar  leads  while  also  adding  in  pagan  style  synths  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  going  into  a  heavier  direction  along  with  a  great  amount  of  grim  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  very  powerful.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  a  more  raw  black  metal  feeling  while  also  mixing  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  into  the  riffing  and  his  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  clean  singing  pagan  vocals  are  also  used  briefly  along  with a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  Anti  Cosmic  and  Dark  Germanic  Heathenism.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Panphage  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic  pagan/black  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Konunger/Lopt"  and  "Ginnheilug  God".

  On  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  dark  ambient  and  pagan/black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Sleepwalker/Fen/Stone And Sea/Call Of Ashes II/Ksenza Records/2016 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Russia's  Sleepwalker  and  United  Kingdom's  Fen  called  "Stone  And  Sea/Call  Of  Ashes  II"  which  was  released  by  Ksenza  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Sleepwalker  a  band  that  plays  an  occult  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  drone,  post  metal  and  ethereal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  acoustic  guitar  playing  and  atmospheric  synths  and  after  awhile  melodic  guitar  leads  are  added  onto  their  side  of  the  recording  along  with  some  ethereal  and  ambient  elements  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  decent  amount  of  heavy  riffs  and  one  of  their  tracks  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  all  3  songs  being  instrumental  and  drones  are  added  on  a  later  track  while  the  production  sounds  very  professional.

  In  my  opinion  Sleepwalker  are  a  very  great  sounding  occult  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  drone,  post  metal,  and  ethereal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Somnambulistic  Trance".

  Next  up  is  Fen  a  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  post  black  metal.

 Their  side  of  the  split  stats  out  with  acoustic  guitar  playing  and  post  rock  elements  before  adding  in  more  heavy  riffs  and  drums  and  after  awhile  clean  vocals  are  added  onto  their  side  of  the  recording  while  also  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  grim  black  metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  feeling  and  the  tracks  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  deep  growls  are  also  used  at  times  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion  and  most  of  their  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  with  one  song  being  an  acoustic  instrumental,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  solitude,  sorrow,  landscape,  and  nature  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Fen  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  post  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Tides  Of  Glass".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  dark  ambient  and  atmospheric/post  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Ater Aeon/Ortvsvs/Fvrws Cinerem/Ater Lunae Templi/2015 Split EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Brazil's  Ater  Aeon  and  Ortvsvs  called  "Fvrvvs  Cinerem   which  was  released  by  Ater  Lunae  Templi  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Ater  Aeon  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  very  ritualistic  form  of  black  ambient.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  drones  and  dark  soundscapes  and  you  can  also  hear  elements  of  ambient  and  tortured  voices  in  the  background  and  the  song  is  20  minutes  in  length   and  after  awhile  the  music  gets  more  ritualistic  and  diverse as  well  as  having  the  atmosphere  of  a  horror  movie soundtrack  and  the  reverb's  also  bring  in  elements  of  harsh  noise  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  In  my  opinion  this is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ater  Aeon  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  ritualistic  black  ambient,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the split.

  Next  up  is  Ortvsvs  a  solo  project  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  while  his  other  material  is  more  raw  black  metal  he  goes  for  more  of  a  ritualistic  dark  ambient  sound  this  time  around.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  and  ritualistic  ambient  soundscape  along  with  some field recordings  in  the background  and  the  music  can  also  be  very  repetitive  and  primitive  at  times  and  the  music  is  all  instrumental  with  no  vocals  ever  being  utilized  along  with the  track  being  11  minutes  in  link  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ortvsvs  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  ambient,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black  metal,  ritualistic  music  and  dark  ambient.  8  out  of  10. 

Raus!/Perunwit/Under the Sign Of the Black Sun/2014 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Poland  and  England's  Raus!  and  Poland's  Perunwit  called  "Under  The  Sun  Of  the  Black  Sun"  which  was  released  in  2014  by  Odium  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Raus!  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  industrial  black  metal  and  martial  dark  ambient.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  off  with  an  intro  that  is  in  the  more  industrial  noise  direction  along  with  epic  sounding  synths  which  also  bring  a  neo-folk  feeling  to  the  recording  and  after  the  into  the  music  goes  into  a  more  fast  black  metal  direction  as  well  as  mixing  in  industrial  music  which  also  leads  up  to  grim  black  metal  vocals  along  with  spoken  word  samples.

  After  the  intro  and  first  song  spoken  word  samples  are  used  more  frequently  and  the  music  starts  adding  in  more  martial  elements  as  well  as  mixing  them  with  industrial  and  black  metal  and  on  one  of  the  songs  they  bring  in  deeper  vocals  which  gives  the  music  a  death  metal  feeling  along  with  a  small  amount  of  melodic  chanting

  Raus!  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  diversity  with  their  music  and  aon  the  songs  they  bring  to  the  split  you  can  hear  everything  from  black  metal,  industrial,  martial,  dark  ambient  and  neo  folk  which  gives  this  band  a  very  original  sound  to  them  and  they  can  go  from  being  very  heavy  to  dark  and  epic  sounding.  

  Song lyrics  are  written  in  Polish  and  cover  war,  hatred,  mysticism,  perversion  and  misanthropy,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark,  heavy  and  epic  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Raus!  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  industrial  black  metal  and  martial  dark  ambient  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  styles,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Raus"  and  "Genocidum  Atrox".

  Next  up  is  Perunwit  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  neo  folk  and  dark  ambient.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  with  an  intro  that  begins  with  nature  sounds  before  adding  in  tribal  drums  and  a  medieval  folk  music  sound  and  after  the  intro  classical  music  sounds  are  added  into  their  side  of  the  split  before  going  into  a  more  dark  and  pagan  medieval  sound  while  also  having  a  shamanistic  feeling  to  it  as  well  as  having  some  melodic  chanting.  

  When  the  other  songs  are  brought  in  the  music  starts  taking  on  a  more  ritualistic  feeling  and  has  the  sound  of  the  ancient  pagan  gods  being  invoked  as  well  as  bringing  in  more  folk  instruments  and  bringing  out  the  feeling  of  the  dark  ages  and  on  the last  song  their  is  a  small  amount  of  classical  music  style  synths.

  With  this  recording  Perunwit  stay  away  from  the  folk  metal  sound  of  the  later  releases  and  returns  back  to  the  more  dark  neo  folk  sound  of  their  earlier  recordings  and  all  of  the  songs  they  bring  to  the  split  are  very  ritualistic  sounding  as  well  as  being  some  of  their  best  material  since  the  first  album.

  Song  lyrics  are  mostly  absent  from  their  side  of  the  recording  with  the  music  being  all  instrumental,  while  the  song  themes  cover  Slavic  Paganism,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark  and  haunting  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Perunwit  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ritualistic  neo-folk  music,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Berserkir"  ang  "Sunwheel".

  In  conclusion I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  metal,  industrial,  neo  folk  and  dark  ambient,  you  should  check  out  this  split.  8/5  out  of  10.

Earthenwomb/Mors Universa/Vol. II/Glossolalia Records/2012 Split EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Springfield,  Oregon's  Earthenwomb  and  Mors  Universa  which  was  released  in  2012  by  Glossolalia  Records  and  we  will  start  of  the  review  with  Earthenwomb  which  plays  an  instrumental  and  experimental  form  of  black  metal.

  Drums  and  bass  playing  are  all  absent  from  their  side  of  the  recording,  while  the rhythm  guitars  are  all  slow  and  repetitive,  primitive  black  metal  riffs,  as  for  the  lead  guitars  they  bring  in  drone  and  noise  elements  to  their  side  of  the  recording.

  Vocals  and  song  writing  are  all  absent  from  their  side  of  the  recording  with  the  music  being  all  instrumental,  while  the  song  themes  cover  dark  emotions,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  with  the  only  song  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  Earthenwomb  are  a  very  great  sounding  instrumental,  experimental  black  metal  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  song.  RECOMMENDED.

  Next  up  is  Mors  Universa  a  project  that  plays  a  very  dark  and  experimental  form  of  ambient/drone.

  Synths  and  sound  effects  combine  dark  ambient,  experimental  and  drone  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  and  there  are  no  other  musical  instruments  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording.

  Vocals  and  song  writing  are  all  absent  from t heir  side  of  the  recording  with  the  musical  being  all  instrumental, while  the  song  theme  covers  darkness  and  atmosphere,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark  and  primitive  sound  with  the   song  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  Mors  Universa  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  dark  ambient,  experimental  and  drone  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  metal,  ambient  and  experimental,  you  should  add  this  split  to  your  collection.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
