BVDK Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

A-152 : Hi, we're a trio from Eastern France. I play guitars, bass and do some electronics in the band. Lvx is our singer, she also wrote lyrics and do some programmings. Scree is the third member of the band and he plays guitars. Also, our sound engineer Benjamin did some drums arrangement during the recording.

2.How would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recoridngs?

A-152 : Simply a mix of things we love to listen to.

3.The lyrics on the new album cover 'African and Haitian Voodoo', can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?

A-152 : Actually, I'm very interested in this kind of cults. Africa didn't have a lot of written sources, so there's a lot of mystery to solve with archeology, history and other social sciences. We're trying to be the most precise possible in our thought and you'll not hear lyrics about Voodoo Dolls or Zombie in the album. Actually this is more like a metaphor between modern times and Dahomey Kingdom cults, Fon Voodoo and some Haïtian References. I think the modern society is actually questioning its relation with religion. And I personally found a lot of subjective answers in books like « Haïtian Voodo » by Alfred Métraux or in « Asres » by Jacquer Mercier. So, I think it was natural to talk about this. And of course there's also a musical interest to play Black Metal (which is a very mystic music to me) and give to it the flavor of percussive rites.

Lvx : I didn't necessarily wrote the lyrics in order to stick to the main theme. I mostly talk about my personal experience. However, everyone has its own interpretation. We thougt about writing in english but I preferred french, as I feel more confident using this language to express myself, and due to the various possibilities it offers.

    • 4. I know that the band name are the initial's of 'Bree van de Kamp;', can you tell us a little bit more about this name'?

A-152 : This is a name that comes from one of our demo track. Actually, we like a lot Desperate Housewives. The Bree Van De Kamp character is very interesting : she's elegant, she makes muffins, she have a beautiful garden but she's also alcoholic, passionate by shotguns, etc... In fact, she's a woman with a lot of contradiction. Our band is also founded on contradictions : man vs machine, electronic vs acoustic, screams vs choirs, etc... So, this name is finally very adapted with our music.

Lvx : In these contradictions, she is the opposite of us.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

A-152 : Actually, we've only made one show in our hometown. We didn't want to play a lot of shows, our music isn't very simple to play live. But, I think this show was epilleptic and a little bit chaotic in some way... We'll release a video from this show soon.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

A-152 : No, we're focused on the creation of a second album.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

A-152 : We discussed with some labels months ago but nobody released the album, so we're still searching for a label to do a physical version of the album.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal and electronic music?

A-152 : The feedbacks are pretty cool at the moment. We know that we play a music that will never be liked by everyone, even in the metal scene but some people seems to enjoy it. Of course, this is good to see that our sound is enjoyed in other countries !

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

A-152 : We're working on new sounds. We're not the kind of band that will repeat the same sound for ten years, Our EP is different from our first album and our second album will be different of « Architecture ». We're working on incorporating new musical genres (Jazz and Funk) in our next album.

Lvx : We have so much influences, we can even release True Black Metal album someday.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

A-152 : Personnaly, I would say Frank Zappa, Deathspell Omega, Blut Aus Nord and the extended French Black Metal scene, Deafheaven, Miles Davis, Afrobeat Scene, Crystal Castles, Aphex Twin and a lot of Screamo (Raein, Touché Amoré, Daïtro,...). Currently, I'm listening to the Nier : Automata OST by Keiichi Okabe.

Lvx : Actually, I haven't the same influences than A-152. I often listen to Martial and Neo Folk, like Death in June, Rome or Dernière Volonté ; post-punk like Siouxie and The Banshees, Joy Division...Or electro like Felix Kubin, Crystal Castles. Obviously, I listen to a lot of Black Metal (Crystalium, Krallice, Nokturnal Mortuum, Hate Forest, Diapsiquir, Xasthur...). Lately I'm into bands like Death in June and some Deathcore bands (Oceano, Carnifex, …).

Scree : I would say, the holy trinity of the 90's doom/death band (old Anathema/Paradise Lost/My Dying Bride), a lot of melodic/symphonic black metal bands like Cradle of Filth,Sigh, Dissection, Diabolical Masquerade, Mörk Grying... Satyricon, Type O Negative, Electric Wizard, Summoning etc etc. And a lot more of Shoegaze, Post-Punk and Synthwave stuffs.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

A-152 : Litterature, Video Games, Movies, TV-Shows... Actually there's a lot of references in the album : Bloodborne video game, David Lynch's filmography, Eyes Wide Shut, Attack On Titan & Shinsekai Yori Anime Series, etc...

Lvx : I would say the same as A-152. Also Ancient History and archeology. I hope to become a researcher in this area.

Scree : Video Games and Astronomy.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for your interest in our band ! We hope you've enjoyed your time spent with our album.

Kassad Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?

Kassad is the sound of black metal broadcasting from a concrete metropolis wasteland. I wanted to take black metal from the empty forests and mountains to the crumbling, dirty monoliths of the city.

The first EP I released, Humans, was about the utter destruction and human cost of the Israel-Palestine conflict. For this album, Faces Turn Away, I wanted to concentrate more on the story of an individual. The album is a narrative that describes shame, ostracisation from society and the slow descent into madness and exile.

2.So far you have released an ep and a full length, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

To me it sounds like modern black metal with post-rock and post-metal influences. It’s fast and powerful but I always look for the wave to break during a song and to build on slower, ambient passages before unleashing the full force of the track. Im strongly influenced by bands like Darkspace, Isis, Anaal Nathrakh and Burzum.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with your music?

Covered above.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Kassad'?

Skipped is it’s not particularly interesting I’m afraid!

5.With this album you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo?

I've played in quite a few bands over the years but I'm happy with Kassad being a one man project. This music is very personal so it's best for me to have complete creative control. It does mean wearing a lot of different hats though as I do everything myself, including the recording, mixing, mastering and even the artwork. Having said that, it would be really interesting to do a split EP in the future with some likeminded musicians.

6.Recently you have signed with 'Hypnotic Dirge Records', are you happy with the support they have given you so far?

Nick at HDR has been great. They've been very happy for me to create the artwork for the digipacks and tshirts myself. They've also been fantastic at getting the album previewed on blogs covering some great bands.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of atmospheric black metal?

The reaction has been really great. People have made some very flattering comparisons to bands like Dark Funeral, Marduk and Waning.

8.Are you also involve with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Nothing worth mentioning here.

9.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?

I'm actually working on the next album at the moment. I've made a lot more use of ambient drone guitars and the music has a more atmospheric feel to it. A release is still quite a way off but the new album will be about a city as a living, malevolent entity. I really want listeners to be able to feel the dirty gravel and grit between their fingers.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I'm listening to the new netra who are also on Hypnotic Dirge. He's doing something really interesting with the black metal genre I think by combining elements of electronica and jazz. I'm also enjoying revisiting some old genre classics like ColdWorld's Melancholie and the Thorns album. In terms of new(ish) stuff I've particularly been digging Bloodlands by Ash Borer and The Force of the Ancient Land by Eldamar.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Didn’t have anything for these two if that’s ok.

In  my  opinion  Black  Blood  Invocation  are  a  very  great  sounding  bestial  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  duo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Black  Blood  Invocation"  and  "Baphometical  Prayers".  8  out  of  10.

Eskapism/Tales Of Elder Forest/Folkvangr Records/2017 Cassette Review

Eskapism  are  a  duo  from  Ukraine  that  plays  an  atmospheric  form of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Tales  Of  Elder  Forest"  which  will  be  released  on  cassette  in  August  by  Folkvangr  Records.

Atmospheric  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  and  after  the  intro  they  also  start  mixing  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  which  also  introduces  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  melodic  guitar  leads  onto  the  recording  and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  used  at  times.

When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  a  more  raw  feeling  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sounding  very  powerful  and  the  songs  also  bring  in a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

Angry  shouts are  also used  briefly  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  one  track  being  an  instrumental  that  also  introduces  acoustic  guitars  onto  the  recording  and  the  album  closes  with  a  cover  of  Coldworld's  "Tortured By  Solitude".

Eskapism  plays  a  style  of  atmospheric  black  metal  that  is  very  synth  orientated  while  also  having  its  raw  moments,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Ukrainian  and  cover  nature  and  poetry  themes.

In  my  opinion  Eskapism  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  cassette.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "And  You  Speak  The  Runes"  "Have  Forgotten  Forests"  and  "Tortured  By  Solitude".  8  out of  10.

Blackest Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
We've been around since June of 2012 writing and recording all of the album's material.

2.Recently you have released your first full length, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
I'd say it's very big sounding. The idea behind the mix was to give the listener all of the sound that was recorded in as raw of a form as possible with as much of that sound coming out of the speaker without any peaking or distortion. We want to immerse the listener with this album.

3.The band has been around since 2012 and except for a couple of singles and a contribution to a split you waited until 2017 to release a full length, can you tell us a little bit more about the first 5 years?
We did not wait 5 years on purpose. The reason we didn't put it out sooner is because this album from start to finish took 5 years to make. I wanted to get everything just right with this album and I had a lot of things I wanted to do with this album. A lot of the work was "off and on" kinda stuff but to put together an album of this scale it took a lot of time and considerations. Especially when you have little to no money to put into it. We could have said screw it and "half-assed" it but I wanted to put out something that 5 or 10 years down the road I could still look back on and be proud of.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Lyrics are kinda hard for me to write. The first thing I usually think is, "What can I say that hasn't already been said?" But a lot of the time if I can get an idea I can write around that idea. There are not a whole lot of tracks on this album and a couple are instrumental so I didn't need a whole lot of ideas this time around. Obviously a lot of the lyrics have a very dark tone to them and for this album in particular they seem to be a bit vague.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Blackest'?
I wanted the darkest name for the darkest kind of music I could write. It seemed fitting.

6.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you planning on expanding the line up in the future or do you chose to remain a duo?
I'd like to expand the band but only if I can find people that would be a good fit for the band. I'd like for them to kind of have the same ideas and mind set for the band, but I'd also be happy with anyone who can handle playing the material well.

7.I have noticed the one band member goes by the name 'Seidr', does Norse Paganism play a role in the music?
Well at this point I don't think it has but I'd like to think there is a lot of room to grow lyrically with the band so it could very well play a part in our future endeavors.

8.The album was released by 'Blood And Brutality Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
It's a label that I started about 10 years ago or so. I pretty much put out everything on the label myself. I've got a number of bands on that label but I also play in some bands that are not on that label. My most recent band I'm in that isn't on the label is Seid in which the vocalist of Blackest also does vocals. We, as Seid, have put an album out called "Darkness Shall Fall".

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
Well we're still growing considering we just put out this first album but so far with what little exposure we've had at this point, everything seems to be very positive.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Well we definitely still have plenty of ideas and plan on future albums. I like to try to grow musically a little without changing too much of our sound. I'd like to be able to offer new sounds and ideas mingled with what we've done with this first album.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I like to try not to let any of my music influences affect how or what I write. As crazy as that may sound. I know it's impossible for other bands or music to not influence what we do but there isn't a band that I know of that influenced the idea of Blackest. I like a lot of the older bands that have been around for a while and I listen to all kinds of stuff. But bands like Death, Slayer, Pantera, Immortal, Emperor, and Morbid Angel are probably what I like the best and listen to the most.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
I would like to that you for the interview and the interest in Blackest and I like to extend my appreciation to anyone who happens to read this interview or listen to the album. Thanks to all.

Catechon Interview

For those that have never heard of you before can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Sinister: Catechon formed in 2013 by the hand of Morgue (voice) and Dawn (former guitarist). Line-up would become stable only by the end of the same year with Jackal (bass) and me (drums). After recording the demo ‘Il richiamo di Orfeo’, distinguished by a mixed style Black Metal, Dawn left the band, and Dusk takes his place. After recording the new split with Infernal Angels and Ad Noctem Funeriis (which includes two new songs and the remake of the first demo track), Dusk left and the new guitarist, Mourner, joins in. In these four years Catechon played in 22 gigs along various bands of different levels and had to reprint the demo three times.
Morgue: I'm the only founder who's still around and I'm very proud of it. It's difficult to find musicians with the right attitude and skills to play Black Metal around here, this is why we had so many line up changes. This, and my authoritarian-ish personality, which keeps on causing some quarrel within the band. I'm very proud of our results though, since the band is growing musically and “spiritually”.

So far you have released a demo and a split, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on those recordings?
Sinister: The demo ‘Il Richiamo di Orfeo’, as we said previously, is distinguished by tracks which take inspiration from a diverse array of Black Metal styles. There was no intention to imitate the style of some bigger and more famous band, the songs were recorded exactly how they were composed in the first place, and in a live recording session. The songs to include in the split ‘Italian Black Metal Assault’, on the other hand, were picked for their raw and violent feeling: it's easy to find Blackened Death influences in ‘Legacy of Cain’, while ‘Succube’ borrows some element from the most Punk-ish Black Metal, and finally the third track is a remake from the demo.
Morgue: I hate limiting creativity, so Catechon will probably remain a multifarious and chaotic entity, without ever getting stuck on fixed standards; but if I must point out a  common theme between the demo and the split album, then it's the reference to those who came before us. I have the deepest respect for the creators of the black flame, and I'll never stop listening the classics with their atavic darkness, although I'm open to experiments.

What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Morgue: I don't follow a fixed pattern, I take inspiration both from everyday reality which disgusts me more each passing day, and from personal studies and experiences. A good portion of the lyrics I write involve a mix of philosophy, mysticism and occultism.

What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Catechon'?
Morgue: The name Catechon is borrowed from the second letter of St. Paul to Thessalonians, a text we also quote in latin in one of our songs in the split album. The literal meaning is “that which holds” and it stands for the last bond to break before the coming of the Antichrist and the end of the world, which however could be happening already (the “Mysterium Iniquitatis”). The exact meaning is still a matter of debate among scholars, some say it's the Roman Empire, others claim a symbolic meaning in connection with human nature. What inspired me in choosing this name was Deathspell Omega's EP ‘Chaining of the Kathecon’ (the usage of K is due to Greek spelling) and a book on the topic by the Italian philosopher Massimo Cacciari.

What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Sinister:  We have a handful of shows we remember more fondly among all the ones we played in:
- 13th of March 2015, in Padova with Common Grave, Helegion and Nocturnal Depression
- 5th of September 2015 in Marcerata (Howling at the Moon 2) with Goat Vomit Noise, Black Faith, Sedna, Selvans, Oltretomba, Ad Noctem Funeriis, Infernal Angels e Handful of Hate
- 9th of October 2015 in Venice with Dispersion, Brunndl, Enisum e Mortifera
- 27th of February 2016 in Verona (Verona Nera act 5) with Blaze of Sorrow and Vanhelga
- 7th of January 2017 in Verona (Verona Nera act 10) with Afraid of Destiny and Vanhelga
Our shows are often enriched with designs and rituals prepared specifically for the event, so no Catechon show is the same as the previous.

Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Sinister:   No.

Recently you were part of a split with Infernal Angels and Ad Noctem Funeriis, what are your thoughts on the other bands that are presented on the recording?
Sinister: We played with Infernal Angels and Ad Noctem Funeriis in Macerata in 2015 and there was an immediate and spontaneous synergy. Those two bands, despite being seasoned veterans of our genre, never tried to show themselves as “Kings of Black Metal”, something which is sadly common in Italy these days, and their music is terrific. We liked them, and they liked us, so the idea of the split was born.
Beyond the mutual esteem, I must say that personally, I consider Ad Noctem Funeriis the best italian band in terms of “pure” Black Metal.

The split was released on 'Adimere Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
Sinister: Adimere Records is a label managed by the guitarist of my second band, Afraid of Destiny. After we discarded some labels which didn't think we deserved a reply, Adimere Records offered its help in producing the split.

On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
Sinister: We're not that known around the world, so that's kind of a difficult question to answer. After all, we published just a demo and a split album. Here in Italy the feedback is generally positive, considering the fact that here, in Northern Italy, Black Metal is hardly seen anywhere in its live form.
Morgue: I agree, to me ‘Verona Nera’ events, in which I had the honor to take part sometimes, represent a safe haven in a simply desolating panorama.

What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
Sinister: Afraid of Destiny (the Depressive Black Metal band formed by me, Mourner (aka M.S.) and Adimere) has a good feedback abroad. Our new full length has been released by a medium sized label, and we got a good number of positive reviews. We see ourselves as a slap in the face of Black Metal purists in Italy. Solitude Project (my Depressive Metal project) is currently in stand-by, but the first full length is completely ready, as far as composition is concerned.
Mourner: As Sinister already said I’m playing guitar in Afraid of Destiny although I’m mainly a live member as of now. I will be giving my insight, help during the production and possibly write something for the future releases but my main focus stands on Catechon.
Jackal: Outside of Black Metal, I'm working on a Funeral Doom project, A View From Nihil, whose first release will be out in September, with a mix of Funeral Doom and Drone.

When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Sinister: We're working on our first full length right now, and we hope to release it within one or two years. We're not gonna reveal how it will sound, but we can just say that it will be extremely different from our usual Raw Black Metal style.
Morgue: It will be a kick in the ass to everything that now represents a trend in Italian Black Metal.

What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Sinister: Personally I have no influences on my drumming style. I listen to so many very diverse bands, I couldn't make a unitary play style out of them. My ultimate goal is to have my very own style.
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Depressive Black Metal, but normally I listen to anything that succeeds on stimulating my emotions.
Morgue: Regarding vocal technique, my models are Attila Csihar and Meyhna'ch. Right now I'm savouring once more a lot of second wave albums along with the reading of ‘Black Metal Compendium’, a really well written book recently published in Italy which, in my opinion, perfectly pictures the true essence of Black Metal through a series of high quality reviews.
Mourner: My guitar playing is heavily influenced by modern Metal music, I love the new horizons that many bands have uncovered in the latest years and I personally think that some of those concepts can be applied to Black Metal as well. In my opinion Black Metal is lacking some kind of new element to find the spotlight once again. Of course the styles I’m talking about have nothing to do with Black Metal and as such many might label me as some kind of “poser” or “betrayer” but honestly I could care less, if listening to a Progressive Metal band or even electronic music can help me garner new ideas for Catechon’s music I don’t see the problem as long as I adapt those ideas toward a Black Metal aesthetic. Having said that don’t expect my songwriting to be following any kind of standard procedure, if it sounds good it’s good, that’s my motto.

Does Occultism play any role in your music?

Sinister: Of course.
Morgue: Absolutely, but we're still at the beginning of a long journey, a research that has somewhat yet to begin.

Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Sinister: Black Metal can be considered dead only if the public keeps listening to bands who are only on YouTube, born and dead on the internet, and keeps avoiding live concerts. True Black Metal is outside the social networks, it's on the stage and in our souls.

Evil Nerfal Interview

English Version

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Evil Nerfal is a band of Black Metal that emerged in the south western Colombian, in the city of Pasto, department of Nariño; forged by Brannagh Bapheker in 2007, where he began rehearsals with musicians of sister bands, setting up a fast, aggressive and intense music, in the vein of the first and second wave of black metal of Europe, similarly under the influence of South American extreme bands of the 80`s. There were several years of inactivity due to changes of city, however the horde, since year 2012, is reconstituted in the city of Pereira, center of Colombia. Brannagh Bapheker composes all music and lyrics, and plays guitars, bass and vocals; Purson Dominus, who joined in 2012, is in charge of percussion. In the year 2010 a demo-rehearsal with 5 songs was recorded and distributed in cd-rom format to metal brothers close associates. After the reconstitution of the band begins to rehearse with discipline to, at the end of 2013, to record 8 songs that would be the components of the first album. Evil Nerfal incorporated session musicians for live performances; Óreidu is in charge of the second guitar and Engram Zulphur of bass. The band, after the first production, was dedicated to work on new compositions, revealing a remarkable evolution in all areas, improving the production and quality of music, which will be reflected in the next album, which will see the light on January 2018.

2.A year ago you had released your first album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
The best epithet to describe the sound characteristics of our first production is INTENSITY; Evil Nerfal executes a INTENSIVE Black Metal, ostensible by the speed and the superposition of contrasts, in the alternation of fast and average times. Obviously this intense sound is a Classic Black Metal, satanic, blasphemous and anti-religious.

3.The band has been around since 2007 but waited until 2016 to release an album, can you tell us a little bit more about the first 9 years?
In the answer to the first question you can glimpse some considerations that answer this question, despite that there is something more to add. We are not professional musicians, and what leads us to create black metal is our passion, a fervent passion, insane and obsessive. Now, it is not less important that in Colombia support for emerging bands is few, so the underground cult must be self-financing, and not everyone has the socio-economic conditions in their favor, not for nothing someone said out there the social conditions of production determine the area of cultural elaboration, and if someone omits this and does not understand how difficult it is to overcome this fact, he is simply an ignorant man living in a world surrounded by pink elephants, in the placid comfort of his stupidity. Evil Nerfal had to overcome this type of difficulties before having a stability that allows him to unleash the creation. In this sense, and taking into account that our professions are far from being musicians, of making music a modus vivendi, we have had to overcome difficulties of city change, which lead to inactivity, problems with the satisfaction of the expected sound, which implies that the publication of music has been scarce.

4.Your lyrics cover a lot of Satanic, Occult, Left Hand Path and Anti Religion themes. can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
The lyric aspect of the band is eminently Satanic, nourished by symbology disseminated in literature, mythology and history; we are satanic beings, that is, opponents and adversaries of any system of alienation, especially when it comes to Semitic religions, which constitute the greatest plague in human history. Luciferianism as a source of knowledge, elevation of the vital potentialities, and self-affirmation of the subject in its singularity, constitutes a consequential existential praxis, which goes beyond the conceptual sphere.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Evil Nerfal"?
It should be noted that the Hebrew word NERFAL (ליפול) was used in the Old Testament when evoking the “fall” of Lucifer, the expulsion of the kingdom of God into hell; “Fall” (ליפול) is poured into our alphabet as Nerfal, and decided to join the adjective “Evil” to designate the precipitation of evil, the steady decline of evil on the world, an ontology of evil; this concept of evil is understood as a radical opposition to all divine domain, where knowledge and arts are forbidden weapons to fight endlessly to the gods. Evil Nerfal then, while black metal band, represents the symbol of the fall ontological evil to fight all religious discourse, to declare war by sound shocking violence.

6.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding the line up in the future or do you chose to remain a duo?
In the performances the band has 4 members, because a second guitar and a bass are essential to define and establish the sound made in the studio. Concerning the recording process, it is not necessary to have more members, because the drummer and me are more than enough to make the sound captures.

7.The last album was released on 'Tribulacion Records', are you happy with the support the label has given you so far?
Definitely the support of this label has been fundamental for the band to have an opening in the underground movement of Colombia. And I want to highlight the great work of the owner of the record label, because it is thanks to him, Mauricio Sanchez, known on the scene as "MORTAS", who for more than 25 years has managed to spread the Colombian black metal scene all over the world, and this was reflected in the support for Evil Nerfal.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
As it is black metal undeground, the diffusion spectrum has not been wide, to this it is added that of our first disc only released 300 copies, and thanks to the work of the label and the trades, the material has wounded to some countries of South America and Eupora, where the reception of our music has been favorable, highlighting the classic and raw character of the first production, which has been received with fervor in European countries.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
Pereira Colombia, where the band is currently based, is an emerging scene in terms of groups and musical productions, so the number of bands with released physical disks are few. At the moment I (Brannagh Bapheker) am active member of 3 more bands; in the horde Tormentor 666 (Pereira Colombia) I am vocalista, in Darkness Almighty (Armenia Colombia) I execute the rhythm guitar and the voices, and in Siniestra (Pasto Colombia) I am in charge of the lead guitar. On the other hand, the drummer of Evil Nerfal (Purson Dominus) and the guitarist of session (Óreidu), militant in the band War Legion (Pereira Colombia) taking charge of the percussion and guitar and voices respectively.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We have just recorded our second album, and with this we intend to expand more, to release the material with some European label, at the same time as to make a release with a national label, in order to disseminate the art in the two Continental fronts. Logically in our projection is the realization of national and international tours, all in order to internalize the message of satanic freedom in all who enjoy Evil Nerfal.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
It is worth mentioning that the repertoire of listening of this type of bands to nourish and inspire our music is so broad and vast that it goes from the classic black metal of the 80's and 90's to the new proposals of orthodox black metal, the new wave. We are always listening to the classical bands and we have been following the path of laudable creations that for about 5 years have been forging around the world. There is another aspect that has personally been decisive when it comes to composing, which will be especially evident in the second production of the band; It is about classical music. Indeed, I always nourish my spirit by listening to this type of music, attending recitals where the sublime apotheosis has its place.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
First of all rise the fucking horns for your interview, honors for supporting the Colombian cult of black metal.
For all black headbangers of the world: if you make black metal that is because your existences are covered by the cloak of satanic opposition, counter culture, dark forces and the deepest sense of difference; if you make black metal by entertaining or by being accepted, let me tell you that you are a bastard who, as such, is nothing more than a hologram. If you don’t live what you do, if you don’t but feel the force of dark music,  if that does not allow your life to be a work of art of emancipation,  let me tell you that you are nothing more than a dilettante of the flock insipid. If you make black metal with the passion of a consistent existential praxis never forget that you must walk under D.D.O.: DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION AND OBSESSION; that the Luciferian forces of knowledge accompany your existence. HAIL BLACK METAL MADNESS! HAIL SATHANAS!
REGARDS
BRANNAGH BAPHEKER

ESPAÑOL
