Angrenost are a band from Portugal that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Nox et Hiems" which will be released in July by Altare Productions.
A very fast and raw sound along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats start off the album along with some grim yet high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later as well as a small amount of ritualistic melodic chants and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
A great amount of 90's second wave influences can be heard but mixed in with a more modern occult style and when guitar leads a re utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion and spoken word parts are also used at times and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Classical guitars can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody along with some of the tracks being very long and epic in length and atmospheric synths can also be heard in the background briefly along with the closing track being all instrumental and adding in touches of ambient.
Angrenost plays a style 0f occult black metal that is very raw yet modern at the same time, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Portuguese and cover Luciferian, Gnostic, Hermetic and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion Angrenost are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lightless Soul" "Lupus In Fabula" and "Lua Negra". 8/5 out of 10.
