1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?
Eldingar is the band we created to play the music we like to listen to, the music we love, that expresses our thinking and concerns, together with other musicians we value. We are a nucleus of 2 people. But not closed per se, as it seeks cooperation and interaction.

Οι Eldingar είναι η μπάντα που δημιουργήσαμε με σκοπό να παίξουμε τη μουσική που μας αρέσει να ακούμε, που αγαπάμε, που εκφράζει τις σκέψεις και τις ανησυχίες μας μαζί με άλλους μουσικούς που εκτιμούμε. Είμαστε πυρήνας 2 ατόμων. Όχι όμως κλειστός καθώς επιδιώκει τη συνεργασία και την αλληλεπίδραση.
2.Recently you have released an album, can you tell us a little bit bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
Τhe original purpose was to wander in the realm of the extreme sound, as it’s the sound we grew up with and love, but our influences are vast; thus these influences infiltrated into our music, consciously or unconsciously.
2. Ο αρχικός μας σκοπός ήταν να κινηθούμε στο χώρο του ακραίου ήχου καθώς είναι ο ήχος με τον οποίο μεγαλώσαμε και αγαπάμε όμως οι επιρροές είναι πολλές έτσι συνειδητά ή ασυνείδητα πέρασαν στη μουσική μας.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
The main subject is always existential, and the search is based on the axis of questions such as ‘who am I’, ‘what do I do’ and ‘what the meaning is’.
The main sources of the lyrics spring from the theatre and philosophy. The need for images and symbols merges by archetypes and myths.
3.Το θέμα είναι πάντα υπαρξιακό και η αναζήτηση βασίζεται στους άξονες των ερωτημάτων ποιος είμαι τι κάνω και ποιο είναι το νόημα.
Οι βασικές πηγές των στίχων αντλούνται από το θέατρο και την φιλοσοφία. Η ανάγκη των εικόνων και των συμβόλων έλκεται από τα αρχέτυπα και τους μύθους.
4.The music also shows a heavy influence of the classic Hellenic style, does the Greek Mythology and Occult topics those bands go into also play a role in your music?
The musical composition is a ceremonial act, a ritual, where we invoke the brightest and strongest inner force to confront our fears and darkness.
We listen to music in the same manner, especially by embracing the influences from the bands of the Greek Black scene.
4.Η σύνθεση είναι δρώμενο τελετής όπου επικαλούμαστε ότι πιο φωτεινό και δυνατό να έρθει να αναμετρηθεί με τους φόβους και το σκοτάδι μας.
Με τον ίδιο τρόπο λειτουργούμε και σαν ακροατές , ξεχωρίζοντας ιδιαιτέρως τις επιρροές από τις μπάντες της ελληνικής Μπλάκ σκηνής.
5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Eldingar'?
It’s the lightning. The symbol of the god of lightning, whether this god is Intra, Zin-Sin, Thor, or Zeus. In the ancient tradition one can find the references that indicate the common starting point of human thought and imagination on the mysteries of Nature. The name ELDINGAR refers to a natural phenomenon, the phenomenon of lightning, of thunderbolt. As one experiences it in Eros, similarly in music the inspiration comes unexpectedly; in a flash...
The magical moment when one unites with the world of ideas and carries these ideas to finally implement them through music and lyrics.
5.Είναι η αστραπή , το σύμβολο του θεού του κεραυνού, είτε αυτός ο θεός είναι ο Ίντρα, είτε ο Ζιν-Σιν, είτε ο Θωρ, είτε είναι ο Δίας, είτε λέγεται αστραπή είτε Eldingar.
Στην αρχαία παράδοση βρίσκουμε τις αντιστοιχίες που υποδηλώνουν την κοινή αφετηρία τής ανθρώπινης σκέψης και φαντασίας πάνω στα μυστήρια της Φύσης.
Το όνομα ELDINGAR μιλάει για ένα φυσικό φαινόμενο, το φαινόμενο αυτό του κεραυνού, του κεραυνοβόλου. ‘Όπως το βιώνεις στον Έρωτα παρόμοια και στην μουσική η έμπνευση έρχεται εξ αίφνης...
Η μαγική στιγμή που ενώνεσαι με το κόσμο των ιδεών και φέρεις τις ιδέες που εν τέλει τις υλοποιείς μέσα από την μουσική και τον στίχο.
6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?
On the cover of the album, we present the maenad as an inspiration of power which leads us to ecstasy. It is inextricably linked to music and dance.
The aesthetics for the design was based on the folklore tradition with regard to the colours and form choices. The symbols presented are clear shapes denoting union, birth and life.
6. Στο εξώφυλλο του δίσκου συναντάμε την μαινάδα ως έμπνευση δύναμης η οποία μας οδηγεί στην έκσταση. Είναι άρρητα συνδεδεμένη με την μουσική και τον χορό.
Η αισθητική για τον σχεδιασμό βασίστηκε στην λαογραφική παράδοση ως προς την επιλογή των χρωμάτων και της φόρμας. Τα σύμβολα που παρουσιάζονται είναι σχήματα καθαρά που δηλώνουν την ένωση, την γέννηση και την ζωή.
7.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding the line up or do you prefer to remain a duo?
The main core of the 2 will remain; however there will be a continuous collaboration with other musicians, since live performances and communication through them is a key element of music, as well as a personal need.
7. Ο βασικός πυρήνας των 2 θα παραμείνει, καθώς όμως οι ζωντανές εμφανίσεις και η επικοινωνία μέσα από αυτές είναι βασικό στοιχείο της μουσικής Αλλά και προσωπική ανάγκη θα υπάρχει συνέχεια συνεργασία με άλλους μουσικούς.
8.On the album you also done some 'Fleetwood Mac' and 'Darkthrone' covers, what was the decision behind doing your own version of their songs?
70’s rock, as well as 90’s black metal, being two of our initial in terms of personal exposure genres, are the two fundamental pillars that defined our musical basis. Thus, they are a tribute to two huge bands that we loved and still do through our own ‘eyes’ as fans, rather than musicians!
8. Το 70ς ροκ Αλλά Κ το 90ς μπλακ μέταλ είναι οι 2 Βασικοί πυλώνες που καθόρισαν το μουσικό μας κριτήριο καθώς ήταν από τα πρώτα μας ακούσματα. Είναι λοιπόν ένας φόρος τιμής με τη δικιά μας ματιά περισσότερο σαν οπαδοί πάρα σαν μουσικοί σε δύο τεράστιες μπάντες που αγαπήσαμε και αγαπάμε ακόμα!
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
So far, the first reactions have been extremely positive and encouraging. This gives us tremendous motivation to keep doing what we love!
9. Μέχρι τώρα οι πρώτες αντιδράσεις είναι εξαιρετικά θετικές και ενθαρρυντικές. Αυτό μας δίνει τρομερό κίνητρο ώστε να συνεχίσουμε να κάνουμε αυτό που αγαπάμε!
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We will continue to play the music we love! There are not only new ideas and inspiration in place, but also already recorded material in store, for our next release.
We are also putting together a new band with great musicians to help us in the recording process, as well as the live performances when the whole situation with the pandemic comes to an end.
10. Θα συνεχίσουμε να παίζουμε τη μουσική που αγαπάμε! Υπάρχουν νέες ιδέες Αλλά και έτοιμο υλικό το οποίο το φυλάξαμε για την επόμενη μας δουλειά . Δημιουργούμε ένα νέο σχήμα με εξαιρετικούς μουσικούς ώστε να μας βοηθήσουν στις διαδικασία των ηχογραφήσεων αλλά Κ την ζωντανών εμφανίσεων όταν τελειώσει όλο αυτό με την πανδημία.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Our musical influences vary and are placed within the vast spectrum of music. I think this is reflected in our work too. The obvious elements of the extreme sound are there, along witg the epic element, folk and a 90’s aura that governs the songs. Neverthelss, there are also more esoteric elements ranging from classical music, film music, jazz, blues, 70’s rock, up to traditional and artistic contemporary (éntekhno) Greek music.
11. Οι μουσικές μας επιρροές είναι πολλές ποικίλες και βρίσκονται σε όλο το φάσμα της μουσικής.. Αυτό νομίζω φαίνεται και στη δουλειά μας.. υπάρχουν τα εμφανή στοιχεία του ακραίου ήχου το επικό στοιχείο, το φολκ και μια 90ς αισθητική που διέπει τα κομμάτια Αλλά υπάρχουν και πιο εσωτερικά στοιχεία που κυμαίνονται από την κλασική μουσική την κινηματογραφική μουσική την τζαζ, το μπλουζ,το 70ς ροκ μέχρι την ελληνική μουσική παραδοσιακή και έντεχνη..
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
We would like to thank you for the very nice and interesting questions. At this point, we would like to thank the people who helped us creating and releasing our first work, which means so much to us.
