Funeral Desekrator/Goat Calling Ritual/Atavism Records/2020 EP Review

  Funeral  Desekrator  are  a  band  from  France  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  satanic  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  ep  "Goat  Calling  Ritual"  which  will  be  released  on  September  7th  by  Atavism  Records.

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Elements  of  thrash  and  first  wave  black  metal  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  old  school  yet  extreme  metal  style.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  vocals  also  getting  very  deep  and  demonic  at  times  as  well  as  some  dark  sounding  melodies  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  the  whole  ep  also sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

  On  this  recording  Funeral  Desekrator  remains  true  to  the  raw  and  satanic  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  that  they  had  established  on  their  previous  ep.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  and  Violence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Funeral  Desekrator  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  satanic  black  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  the  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Goat  Calling  Ritual"and  "Sacrifice".  8 out  of  10.

Funeral Desekrator/First Desekration/Atavism Records/2017 Demo Review

  Funeral  Desekrator  are  a  band  from France  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  satanic  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their 2017  demo  "First  Desekration"  which  was  released  by  Atavism  Records.

  A  very  hard  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  demo  before going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  music  mixing  in  elements  of  first  wave  black  metal  and  thrash.

  While  the  music  is  mostly  rooted  in  the  80's  and  90's  it  still  has  a  modern  feeling  along  with  the  tracks  also  bringing  in    great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  demonic  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  the  music  always  remains  heavy  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  briefly  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  fashion.

  Funeral  Desekrator  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  raw  and  satanic  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  thrash  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Demons,  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Funeral  Desekrator  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  satanic  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Satan  My  Distress"  and  "The  Descent".  8  out  of  10.
