  Aeterna  Tenebrae  are  a  duo  from  France  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  an  epic  form  of  pagan  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Anima  Mortalis  Ars  Perpetua"  which  was  released  by  Ancestrale  Production.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats,  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  When  keyboards  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  an  epic  atmosphere  while  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  some  of  the  riffs  and  solos  also  adding  in  elements  of  traditional  metal,  clear  pagan  chants  and  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  Aeterna  Tenebrae  goes  for  more  of  a  melodic,  atmospheric  and  epic  style  of  pagan  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Paganism  themes.

Khold/Du dømmes til Død/Soulseller Records/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Norway's  Khold  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  mid  tempo  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Du  dømmes  til  Død"  which  will  be  released  in  march  by  Soulseller  Records.

  A  very  slow,  dark  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  music also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  Norwegian  style  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  lot  of  mid  tempo  sections.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  grooves.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  introduced  into  the  music  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  and  old  school  style  along  with  a  couple  of  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats,  fast  playing  and  tremolo  picking  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  one  song  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  and  synths  but  keeping  the  focus  on  a  heavier  direction.

  On  this  recording  Khold  goes  for  more  of   a  mid  tempo  style  of  Norwegian  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  is  a  concept  album  based  upon  henchman  and  various  people  being  condemned  to  the  death  penalty  throughout  their  country's  history.   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Khold  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Myrdynk"  "Skoggangsmann"  "Lædel"  and  "Dølgsmål".  8  out  of  10.

Isenordal/Requiem For Eirênê/Prophecy Productions/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Seattle,  Washington's  Isenordal  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  black,  funeral  doom  metal  and  neo-folk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Requiem  For  Eirênê"  which  will  be  released  in  March  by  Prophecy  Productions.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  keyboards  a  few  seconds  later  and  stringed  instruments  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Elements  of  funeral  doom  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls.

  Black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  Female  vocals  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  songs  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  clean  playing  is  also  added  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  When  acoustic  guitars  are  introduced  into  the  music  they  also  add  in  touches  of  neo-folk  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  clean  male  vocals.  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly,  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  on  a  few  songs  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  ancient  myths,  occultism,  astrology,  tarot,  loss,  grief  in  all  of  its  stages,  hope,  disappointment,  exploitation,  spiritual  revelation,  surrender  and  apotheosis.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Isenordal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  funeral  doom  metal  and  neo-folk,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Await  Me  Ultima  Thule"  and  "Saturnine  Apotheosis".  8  out  of  10.

Ignis Mortis/Haeresis Maleficarum/Hammer Of Hate/2024 EP Review

 

  Ignis  Mortis  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  ep  "Haerisis  Maleficarum"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Hammer  Of  Hate.

  Bell  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  choirs  in  the  background  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  the  synths  also  give  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  spoken  word  parts  also  bring  in  a  ritualistic  atmosphere  when  they  are  utilized  briefly.  A  small  amount  of  nature  sounds  are  also  added  on  one  of  the  songs  along  with  the  music  sticking  mostly  to  either  or  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction .

   When  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  great  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clear  vocals.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  Finnish  and  English  and  cover  Luciferianism,  Witchcraft,  Apocalypse,  Zeitgeist,  Religious  Fundamentalism  and  the  Tide  Of  Kali  Yuga.

  In  my  opinion  Ignis  Mortis  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  occult  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Sanguine  Luciferian  Vampirism".  8/5  out  of  10.

  Kolac  are  a  band  from  Serbia  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  a  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2024  album  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Pest  Records.

  A  synth  orientated  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  spoken  word  samples  a  few  seconds  later   before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Elements  of  thrash  metal  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  tremolo  picking  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  faster  riffing  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  the  songs  also  take  an  80's  style  and  makes  it  sound  more  modern  and  all  of t he  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  On  this  recording  Kolac  takes  black  and  thrash  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  something  that  sounds  very  different  from  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  usage  of  stakes  as  punishments  in  the  Middle  Ages  and  beyond.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Kolac  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Kolac"  "Krvokolj"  "Silence  Of  The  Ages"  and  "Raskrsten".  8  out  of  10.

  Poland's  Above  Aurora  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  atmospheric  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Myriad  Woes"  which  will  be  released  in  march  by  War  Anthem  Records.

  Dark  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  drums  a  few  seconds  later  while  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  tracks.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  bring  in  elements  of  doom  metal.

  Melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

 At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  sounding  while  growls  are  also  utilized  in  certain  sections  of  the  album.  All  of  the  tracks  are  also  improved  while  a  couple  of  songs  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  each  song  also  sounds  very  different  from  each  other. 

  On  this  recording  Dodenbezweerder  takes  a  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  doom  metal  and  experimental  to  create  a  very  different  sounding  album.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  themes. 

 In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Dodenbezweerder  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  experimental  black  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Pierced  With  Seven  Swords  Made  From  Angel  Bone"  and  "Opening  Of  The  Gates".  8  out  of  10.

  Avant  garde  sounds  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  All  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

   Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Elements  of  death  and  thrash  metal  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style,  the  songs  also  add  in  a  lot  of  old  school  influences  which  they  update  with  a  more  modern  sound 

   

   One  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  war  samples  as  well  as  a  couple  of  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  synths  and  as  the  album  progresses  growls  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  War,  Darkness  and  Violence  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  Imperatus  are  a  very  great  sounding  fast  and  brutal  black  metal  band  with  elements  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Eternal  Strife"  "Accursed  Warfare"  and  "From  The  Ashes  Of  A  Forgotten  Past".   8  out  of  10.

  Ratten  are  a  band  from  France  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  raw  mixture  of  black,  sludge  metal  and  crust  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "La  Lounge  Marche"  which  will  be  released  in  February  as  a  joint  effort  between  Negra Nit  Records, Black  Pandemie,  Arsenic  Solaris,  De Profundis  and  Deep  Cellar  Records.

A  very  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  crust  punk  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in a   great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  tracks  also  bringing  in  elements  of  sludge  metal.

DDark  soundscapes,  opera  samples,  synths  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  a  couple  of  songs  and  the  closing  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  also  being  an  instrumental. The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  discomfort,  despair  and  humanity's  failure.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Rateen  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black,  sludge  metal  and  crust  punk,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Les  Cris  de  la  Meute"  "La  Lounge  Marche"  and  "Les  Heures  Sombres".  8  out  of  10.

Astar/Battlekeep/2023 EP Review

 

  Astar  are  an  international  band  with  embers  from  Italy  and  Australia  that  plays  a  mixture  of  melodic  black  metal  and  dungeon  synth  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2023  ep  "Battlekeep".

  Dungeon  synth  style  synths  start  of  the  ep  while  also  adding  in  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  and  mixing  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  done  in  more  of  a  deep  and  angry  black  metal  style  as  well  as  adding  in  some  growls  while  the  music  also  adds  in  a  good  amount  of  symphonic  touches.  Acoustic  guitars  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  ep  also  closing  with  an  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  based  upon  a  dark  fantasy  story  inspired  by  the  Arthurian  Legends,  Holy  Grail,  Nordic  and  Celtic  myths .

  In  my  opinion  Astar  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  melodic  black  metal  and  dungeon  synth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sacred  Bloodline"  and  "A  Ballad  For  The  Falling  King".  8/5  out of  10.

Solbrud/IIII/Vendetta Records/2024 Double Album Review

 

  Denmark's  Solbrud  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  double  album  "IIII"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Vendetta  Records.

  Field  recordings  start  of  the  album  along  with  some  acoustic  guitars  a  few  seconds  later  before  introducing  synths  onto  the  recording  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

   At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  melody. 

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  songs also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  nature  sounds.  A  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  instrumentals  as  well  as  one  song  also  introducing  female  vocals  onto  the  album, the  music  also  has  its  progressive  moments and  clean  playing  is  also  utilized  at  times.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Danish  and  cover  nature  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Solbrud  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  double  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hvile"  "Sjaeleskrg"  and  "Aske".  8  out  of  10.

  On  this  recording  Absolutus  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  experimental  and  avant  garde  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  their  native  tongue  and  cover  nihilism,  metaphysical  journeys,  eerie  experiences  and  psychology  with  some  inspirations  from  the  writings  of  E.M  Cioran  and  F.  Nietzsche.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Absolutus  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  experimental  and  avant  garde  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Entfremdung"  and  "Cosmogonie  du  Desir".  8  out  of  10.

Kasm Interview

 

For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Absolutely. We are a three-person cosmic black metal project from Calgary, Canada. I (J.T.) record guitars, synths, and drums for Kasm. S.R. records bass but is a very talented ambient and electronic music mad scientist. Likewise - our vocalist K.B. currently plays and has played in a number of amazing projects - both as a vocalist and one-man band.

So far, you have released an EP. Can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

Even though we all share a very different style of music, we all gravitate towards a sound that makes you feel small, insignificant, worthless, whether that be crushing doom riffs, melodic strings, and synths, or whipping guitars. Kasm is the product of all these sounds composed to deliver you the feeling of existential dread through an audible medium.

What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

I would echo the previous answer as well - we want to take you through an experience of cosmic despair and existentialism. We discussed whether to release the lyrics or not and decided that being left wondering is part of the experience.

What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Kasm'?

Kasm came from a play on the word ‘macrocosm.’ We ended up at Kasm from the shortened word ‘cosm’ to which we gave our our creative twist on. Given that a chasm - being dark and eerie - is in line with our sound, it seemed like a good fit.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the EP cover?

The artwork on the cover is a piece by a very talented Canadian artist, Barthélemy Aupetit, titled ‘Celestial Being IV,’ who will also be supplying the artwork for our next release. I stumbled upon his work one day and found this piece and thought it was perfect to represent the tone of the music - specifically for the closing track, Exordium Illumination.

Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

We have not done any live shows and currently have no plans; however, I think we would be open to the idea of starting here in Calgary if we were able to gather the right fit to put on a live performance.

So far, very little is known about the band. Do you prefer to keep a lower profile?

Yes - I like to think that is part of the mystery. Personally - I listen to a large number of one or two-man black metal projects, and I think, for me, part of the appeal is uncovering more about the music and artist as time goes on and more music is released.

The EP is going to be released on physical format by 'Northern Shadow.' Can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Yes, a funny thing about that - I have been a long-time supporter of Northern Shadow. They showed up in my Instagram recommended feed a couple of years ago as a Canadian online atmospheric black metal record shop. I was looking through their catalog and seeing records I spent over $100 for on Discogs for like $40 or something. I started to wait for their releases because I knew they would always get something good. Shortly after we released the record, I just saw that they were accepting demo tapes and decided it was worth a shot - and it worked out. Super happy to be represented by a label that I have actively supported for years.

On a worldwide level, how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

We did our worldwide release on the Atmospheric Black Metal YouTube Channel, and I think we were all very happy with the feedback. The initial release garnered over 4k views in a couple of months. I think there is a very small niche of people (myself being one) that love this type of melodic depressive black metal, and those are the people I hope enjoyed the record the most.

When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We have already written a follow-up EP that we will be releasing hopefully in 2024 with an evolved musical direction, but still very well Kasm. Experimenting with long-form tracks, as this EP is 2 tracks and projecting to be ~28 minutes or so in length. Then after that, who knows? I am always drawn to artists with very diverse discography, and I believe Kasm will be one of them.

What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Ironically - all three of us have very different tastes in music - but come together in harmony here. As the songwriter - I think I wear my influences on my sleeve and take lots of musical inspiration from bands like Mare Cognitum, Spectral Lore, Wolves in the Throne Room, and Ethereal Shroud.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  ritualistic  soundscapes  while  epic  sounding  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  their  side  of  the  recording  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  chants  and  synths  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  lot  of  blast  beats.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Istidraj  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "God  Fukkin  Sodomy"  and  "Verbis  Diaboli".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  Asian  black  metal.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  old  school  90's  era  influences.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  One  song  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  melodic  chants  along  the  guitar  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  introduced  into  the  music  and  the  whole  album  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

  Ctanic  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  fast,  raw,  aggressive  and  traditional  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Darkness  and  Hatred  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Ctanic  are  a  very  great  sounding  fast  and  raw  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Baphometic  Fire"  "Promethean  Light"  "Sol  Invictus"  and  "Abyssic  Darkness".  8  out  of  10.
