Demonic Slaughter/Dark Paths To Catharsis/Has Weg Productions/Lower Silensien Stronghold/2015 CD Review

  Demonic  Slaughter  are  a band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  with  their  current  material  they go  for  more  of  an  ambient  style  of  raw  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Dark  paths  To  Catharsis"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Hass  Weg  Productions  and  Lower  Silensian  Stronghold.

  Nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  ambient  style  keyboards  which  also  gives  the  music  a  very  atmospheric feeling  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  going  into  more  of  a  darker  yet  heavier musical  direction  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sounding  very  powerful  as  well  as  bringing  in  grim  black  metal  screams.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  feeling  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount of  dark  sounding  melodies  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

   Some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  keyboards  also  make  a  return  in  certain  sections  of the  recording  and  some  songs  are  all  instrumental  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  brought  into  the  music  they  are  done  in  a  very melodic  fashion  and  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  touch  of  melody  at  times  without  losing  their  aggressive  edge  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  acoustic  guitars.

  Demonic  Slaughter  plays  a style  of  black  metal  that  is  still  very  raw  while also  bringing  in  some  of  the  atmospheric  and  epic  structures  of  90's  Polish  black  metal  as  well  as  bringing  in  elements  of  ambient  to  take  their  musical  style  to  the  next  level,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  nature  and  occultism  themes.

   In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Demonic  Slaughter  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  epic  and  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dark  Paths  To  Catharsis"  "Black  Rain"  "Rituals  Of  Honour  And  Revenge"  and  "Into  the  Cold  Mountains".  8  out  of  10.

Demonic Slaughter/Haunted/Pagan Records/2014 CD Review

  Demonic  Slaughter  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw,  melodic  and  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Haunted"  which  was  released  by  Pagan  Records.

  A  very  dark  ambient  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  giving  the  recording  a  ritualistic  feeling  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  going  for  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  sound  which  also  uses  melodic  leads  at  times  as  well  as  a  great  amount  of  grim  screams  which  also  use  a  small  amount  of  spoken word  parts  and  a  touch  of  melody  on  one  of  the  later  tracks  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  the  recording  there  is  a  great  amount  of  melodic  riffing  along  with  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  that  also  utilize  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  while  the  music  does  have  its  old  school  roots  the  production  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  modern  day  feeling  and  the  music  can  also  get  very  atmospheric at  time s with  the  melodies  that  come  out  of  the  guitars  and  there  are  also  a  few  tracks  that  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  on  the  last  track  a  good  amount  of  keys  are  added  into  the  music  and  the  song  is  all  instrumental  and  epic  sounding.

  Demonic  Slaughter  creates  a  black  metal  album  that is  very  atmospheric,   raw  and  melodic    bringing  in  some  Norwegian  influences  of  the  90's  but  also  mixing  it  with  a  more  modern  occult  sound  to  create  the  musical  style  that  is  presented  on  the  recording,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  mostly  written  in  English  along  with  a  couple  in  Polish  and  they  cover  Satanism,  Occultism,   Evil,  Death  and  Destruction.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Demonic  Slaughter  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  melodic,  atmospheric,  satanic  and  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mystic  Rites"  "Haunted"  "Madness  And  Astral  Emanations"  and  "Death's  Creek".  8  out  of  10.

Deception/Demonic Slaughter/Worshippers Of The Darkness/Hellthrasher Productions/2012 Split CD Review

  This  is  a review  of  a  split  album  between  Poland's  Deception  and  Demonic  Slaughter  called  "   Worshippers  Of  The  Darkness"  which  was  released  in  2012  by  Hellthrasher  Productions  and  we  will  start  of  the  review  with  Deception  a  band  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  blackened  death  metal.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  brutal  death  metal  with  raw and  primitive  sounding  black  metal,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  chaotic  sounding  black/death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals range  from  deep  death  metal  growls  to  high  pitched  black  metal  screams,  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Polish  and  cover  Satanism  and  Darkness,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Deception  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  satanic  death  metal  and  primitive  black  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Rite  Of  Darkness"  which  is  a  Bathory  cover.  RECOMMENDED.

  Next  up  is  Demonic  Slaughter  a  band  that  plays   a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  satanic  black  metal.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  tone  with  primitive  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  their  side  of  the  recording.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  death  metal  influences  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  their  side  of  the  recording.

  Vocals range  from  deep  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  clean  singing,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  satanic,  and  occult  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Demonic  Slaughter  are  a very  great  sounding  raw  and  primitive  satanic  black  metal band  with  the  best  music  on  this  split  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  music  genre,  you  should  check out  their  music.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Hooded  Reaper".  RECOMMENDED.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  great  split  and  I  would  recommend  this  to  all  fans  of  satanic  black  and  death  metal.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
