Synthre/Thus Burns The House Of The Sun/2026 EP Review

 

  Synthre  are  a  solo  project  from  Finland  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  a  middle  eastern  themed  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  o  their  self  released  2026  ep  "Thus  Burns  The  House  Of  The  Sun"

  A  very  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  elements  of  Middle  eastern  music  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  clear  vocals  can  also  be  heard  at  times.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while  the  harsh  vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast beats  as  well  as  the  recording  also  having  its  dissonant  moments  

  On  this  recording  Synthe  goes  for  more  of  a  dissonant  and  middle  eastern  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  rise,  fall  and  transformation  of  Assyrian  civilization.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Synthre  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  Middle  Eastern  infleunced  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Nightfall"  and  "House  Of  The  Sun".  8  out  of  10.

Synthre/Heterodoxa/2025 EP Review

 

  Synthre  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  dissonant  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2025  ep  "Heterodoxa"  which  will  be  released  in  September.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  Middle  Eastern  influenced  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  vocals  bring  in  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Chants  and  clear  singing  are  also  utilized  at  times  which  also  adds  in a   ritualistic  touch  while  the  recording  also  has  its  dissonant  moments.  Folk  instruments  and  synth  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  one  track  also  adding  in  some  tribal  style  beats  and  the  whole  ep  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.

  Synthre  plays  a  musical  style  that takes  a  dissonant  form  of  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  death  metal  and  Middle  Eastern  music  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  era  while  the  old  gods  of  Sumer  and  Mesopotamia  walked  alongside  early  Christianity  and  Gnosticism.

  In  my  opinion  Synthre  are  a  very  great  sounding  dissonant  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "He  Comes"  and  "The  Gaze  is  Fire".  8  out  of  10.
