1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project?
1. Sure! "Embrace of Sorrow" is a one-man atmospheric black metal project that I started in February of this year. My music is very dark and melancholic, and I always try to create an engaging atmosphere. I do everything by myself, from playing the riffs to mixing the music. My music is very personal to me, so I hope it reaches people who feel the same way as I do and enjoy it!
2.In April you had released an ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
2. I didn't really have a clear idea of the direction I wanted to take, but looking back, I would say that I wanted to create a mix of DSBM and melodic black metal. Something that doesn't sound as extremely melancholic as DSBM, but still delivers the lyrical message while providing an interesting atmosphere.
3.The project started in February and you put out your release a couple of months later, do you spend a great amount of time writing and creating music?
3. Yes, exactly. I spent almost every day making music. For me, once I get started, I totally lose track of time. Plus, it was a lot of fun because during this time, I learned a lot about recording, mixing, writing lyrics, etc. This contributed a lot to getting this first release finished relatively quickly.
4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with your music?
4. On my EP, I've already addressed several lyrical topics such as hate towards humanity, fear of loss, loneliness, and many other emotions. Much of what I've lyrically dealt with is from some time ago in my life, which is also where the title of the EP, "Forgotten Solitude," comes from.
5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Embrace of Sorrow'?
5. I wanted a name that reflects the style of my music. It should show that I find comfort in the melancholy and sorrow of black metal.
6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?
6. First off: Yes, it's AI-generated. As the name says, I wanted it to reflect loneliness while still appearing dark and cold. I spent days until I had the image that I felt would fit.
7.With this project you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo?
7. Embrace of Sorrow will continue to be a one-man project. However, I would be happy to collaborate with other artists in the future, but nobody know what the future will bring.
8. Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
8. I'm not actively looking for a label, but I'll put it this way: If a label that I find appealing were to approach me, I probably wouldn't say no. So far, however, I haven't received any requests or anything like that.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of atmospheric black metal?
9. For my first release, the reactions were surprisingly positive. Honestly, I didn't know how my music would be seen, as I believe outsiders can judge it better than the artist themselves. For example, I had a live premiere on the YouTube channel "Black Metal Catalog", where I got many positive reactions. However, I would appreciate more feedback, whether positive or negative.
10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?
10. Right after releasing the EP, I continued making music, with the goal of writing a full-length album. By now, I've completed all the melodies, and I am currently working on lyrics and mixing everything. I plan to release this album by the end of this year, but I won't reveal any more details. As a musician, I definitely want to continue growing and learn more, aiming to become more professional and experiment more.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
11. It all started around age 13 when I bought my first Slipknot album. In the following years, I was heavily influenced by deathcore bands like Chelsea Grin or Suicide Silence, and in later years, also by Rap artists like $uicideboys$ or Private Paul. About 6 years ago, my best friend introduced me to black metal and since then I've been listening to it. Bands like Grima, Leipa, and Batushka (the real one, not the fake one) have especially influenced me. Currently, I'm listening to the latest albums by bands like Griffon or Litosth, but I always enjoy revisiting the "old" albums of the bands mentioned earlier.
