Viamaer/In lumine lunae (Acoustic Sessions)/2026 EP Review

Viamaer  are  a  solo  project  form  Poland  that  has  recently  been  featured  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  takes  his  mixture  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  into  an  acoustic  direction  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2026  ep  "In  lumine  lunae  (Acoustic  Sessions)'  which  will b e  released  in  April.

Acoustic  guitars  which  add  in  a  mixture  of  finger  picking  and  full  chords  start  off  the  ep  while  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Drum  beats  are  also  utilized  at  times  while  the  post  rock  and  shoegaze  elements  are  also  mixed  in  with  the  cleaner  sections  of  the  music  and  all  of  the  songs  also  stick  to  an  instrumental  direction,  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

On  this  recording  Viamaer  takes  songs  off  his  previous  full length  and  takes  away  the  vocals  and  heavier  parts  of  the  release  and  takes  his  music  into  an  acoustic  direction  as  well  as  keeping  everything  instrumental  while  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Viamaer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  acoustic  music  with  elements  of  post  rock  and  shoegaze,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "In  excitiatione  terrae"  and  "Smaragdus  somnium".  8  out  of  10.

Viamaer Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project?

1. Viamaer was created without a plan and without the assumption that it would ever become a musical project. It was a record of moments I couldn’t express in any other way than through sound. I wrote these tracks more like a personal journal - a way to organize emotions that were too intense to simply leave behind. Only later came the thought that what I had created might be something more than a private note.

2.You have your first full length coming out early in 2026, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

2. I didn’t choose a style. I didn’t think about whether it would be blackgaze, post-black metal, or anything else. These labels are useful for cataloguing music, but not for creating it. What mattered most was the atmosphere, the emotion, the message - not the box it would be placed in. The music emerged naturally, without stylistic assumptions.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with the music?

3. The lyrics are a record of moments - awakening, battling the shadow, searching for light, free will, fear, purification. They feature motifs of nature, symbolism, inner conflict, and spiritual light. These aren’t abstract stories - they are states I truly experienced.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Viamaer'?

4. When searching for a name, I wanted something non-obvious - something that sounds like an old word but actually isn’t one. Viamaer carries a certain weight. It reflects what the project is.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

5. The cover is built around two symbols. The flower represents rebirth - something fragile that, in the right light, becomes a source of strength. The moon represents hope, the guiding light in the half-darkness.

6.With this project you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo?

6. Working alone feels most natural to me. Viamaer was born from a need for intimacy and silence - a space where I can capture emotions without filtering them through anyone’s expectations. That’s why I record everything myself. But I’m not closed to collaboration. If the right people appear one day, I’ll let it happen naturally. Before I entrust anyone with a fragment of this space, I need to be sure it aligns with its character and doesn’t diminish its honesty.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

7. At the moment, I’m not focused on looking for a label. The project was created as something very personal. If offers come, I will consider them.

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of post black metal and blackgaze?

7. At the moment, I’m not focused on looking for a label. The project was created as something very personal. If offers come, I will consider them.

9.Do you also have any experience playing in other bands or musical projects?

9. Yes, I played in other bands. Those were completely different experiences - more focused on the group, structure, and the stage. Viamaer differs from all of that - it is the most personal project I’ve had.

10.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?

10. I don’t think about the future. I create when I feel the need to capture something happening inside me. It’s also worth adding that I have much more music than what I’ve released. In lumine lunae is only a small part of my private record - the rest is still waiting for its time

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

11. I don’t have a single source of inspiration. I listen to many bands and many genres. More than bands, I’m inspired by reality itself and the emotional states connected with it.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

12. If someone finds even a fragment of the emotions that accompanied the creation of this music, then it was worth sharing. I don’t create to meet expectations - I create to be honest with myself. And if someone feels that, that means the most to me.

Viamaer/In lumine lunae/2026 Full Length Review

Viamaer  are  a  solo  project  from  Poland  that  plays  a  mixture  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  album  "In  lumine  lunae"  which  will b e  released  in  2026.

Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  direction  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Clear  singing  is  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  the  harsh  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  also  adds  in  a  lot  of  shoegaze  touches.

When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  post  metal  style  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast beats  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  feeling.  At  times  the  music  also  goes  into  an  atmospheric  direction  along  with  the  recording  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts

All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  a  couple  of  tracks  also  being  instrumentals,  one  song  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words  and  the  album  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  modern  era  of  the  genre.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Polish and  cover  emotional  themes.

In  my  opinion  Viamaer  is  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  mixture  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "In  excitatione  terrae"  "Dimensio  mortis"  and  "Smnaragdus  somnium".  8  out  of  10.
