1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

LORD ZEPOL: We are three that walk in the abomination's wake, both together and separately, calling upon and drawn to the order of HE by conjuring blasphemous noise in improvised raw rituals. 

2.So far you have released a full length and also have been a part of a split, musically how do both of their releases also differ from each other?

LORD ZEPOL: "The First Key '' was our initial collective summoning with these magick instrumental tools and spells that we were still figuring out how to utilize. "UNBOUND" represents a more-complete but still imperfect bestial cacophony. Forever or until HE calls us away from this realm, will we continue to strive to open the door.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

PRICOLICI: BEND THE KNEE FOR NO ONE. DISTURB NOTHING. DESTROY ANYTHING THAT DISTURBS YOU.

 

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'BOBAK'?

PRICOLICI: BOBAK DERIVES FROM FOLKLORE. MISCHIEVOUS EVIL DEMONS.

 

5.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

PRICOLICI: THE DAY WILL COME. UNTIL THEN WE WAIT IN THE DARK.

6.Recently you where a part of a split with 'Deadyellow', what are your thoughts on the other band that had participated on the recording?

AGRUVZI: Deadyellow are truly fine counterparts to our malicious audio atrocities. Whereas BOBAK dig through the grit and murk to craft a diabolical dirge, Deadyellow travel on a similar dead end path, but hovering slightly above the ground with more fearful finesse than we. 

7.The split is coming out on 'Wet Cassettes', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

AGRUVZI:  Label owners Nill and Bick called upon us to commit our unholy rituals to tape after they found us filming a music video in the woods by their home. We were their first trve purveyors of wicked blackened harshness. They are absolute freaks and weirdos but run a fantastic little label.

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

AGRUVZI: We are not concerned with this world's views of our summoning's, but considering the ample coverage and the first album selling out rather quickly- I can say it has been favorable. Well, besides that 4.5 from Pitchfork.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

LORD ZEPOL: We will continue to focus our intentions and channel ourselves into our incantations, bleeding ourselves into chalice after chalice to perfect our ritual, more apostles are always welcome to enter the circle.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

PRICOLICI: Këkht Aräkh, Mütiilation. 

AGRUVZI: Vide, Vermapyre, and the modern embodiment of Beelzebub himself, Justin Bieber.

11.How would you describe your views on Occultism?

PRICOLICI: WE BELIEVE IN HE.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts? 

AGRUVZI: Breathe sin in, grab "UNBOUND" from Wet Cassettes and prepare to go beyond the gate with us. Oh, and never stop questioning: "are they taking trve black metal too seriously, or not at all?" 

Deadyellow/BOBAK/Unbound/Wet Cassettes/2022 Split EP Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  U.S.A's  Deadyellow  and  BOBAK  called  "Unbound"  which  will  b  e  released  on  January  21st  by  Wet  Cassettes  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Deadyellow  a  band  that  plays  post  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  post  metal  elements  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  drones  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  the  second  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Deadyellow  are  a  very  great  sounding  post  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Aporia".

  Next  up  is  BOBAK  a  band  that  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  semi  clean  playing  along  with  some  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  their  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody.  The  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  lo-fi  as  well  as  adding  in  a  classic  demo  style  while  the  lyrics  cover Occultism  and  Darkness themes.    

  In  my  opinion  BOBAK  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Beyond  The  Gate".  

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all f ans  of  post  and  raw  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.
