Boston, Massachusetts's Cryostasium and Thor Maillet team up on this recording to create an album that mixes experimental, dark ambient and black metal together and this is a review of their 2015 album "CMT3" which was released as a joint effort between Symbol Of Domination Productions and Metropolitan State Productions.
Programmed beats start off the album along with some atmospheric sounds a few seconds later that also bring in elements of ambient and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording and after awhile the music also starts getting heavier and also brings more of a black metal sound to the recording.
Spoken word parts can be heard at times along with a brief use of baby cries while some songs also bring in drones and nature sounds and as the album progresses the music gets more diverse and experimental while most of the music is instrumental and the close the album with a live 17 minute track which also brings in a brief use of melodic guitar leads.
Cryostasium and Thor Maillet create a musical style together that takes experimental, dark and ambient and black metal and mixes them together to create a musical style that is very hard to classify and the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding recording from Cryostaium and Thor Maillet and if you are a fan of experimental, dark ambient and black metal, you should check out this duo. 8 out of 10.
