Full Moon Ritual/Emperor Of the Age Of Disorder/2014 CD Review

Full  Moon  Ritual  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  album  "Emperor  Of  the  Age  of  Disorder".

A  very  dark,  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  powerful  bass  lines  and  grim  screams  and  the  band  sticks  to  a  slower  style  in  the  beginning  and  on the  later  tracks  the  band  starts  to  speed  up  and  add  in  blast  beats  as  well  as  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  true  to  the  90's  tradition  of  the  genre.

There  is  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  present  throughout  the  recording  along  with  a  small  amount  of  melodic  guitar  leads  that  are  kind  of  mixed  down  low  in  the  mix  and  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  amount  of  melody  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  th e main  focus  remains  of  power  chords  and  fast  tremolo  picking.

As  the  album  progresses  clean  playing  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  on  a  couple  of  the  tracks  along  with  a  brief  acoustic  instrumental  piece  as  well  as  each  song  sounding  different  from  each  other  while  also  remaining  true  to  a  pure  form  of  black  metal  at  all  times  and  the  band  also  ignores  all  of  the  modern  trends  that  have  watered  down  black  metal  over  the  years  creating  a  sound  that  is  very  raw  and  pure.

Full  Moon  Ritual  remain  true  to  a  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal  throughout  the  recording  creating  an  album  that  has  a  lot  of  the  best  element s of  the  90's  side  of  the  genre,  the production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occultism  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Full  Moon  Ritual  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Blood  Of  Truth"  "Frozen  Ground"  and  "Spirits  Lurk  in  Darkness  For  Eternity".  8  out  of  10.

Full Moon Ritual Interview

1.Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?
 1) Full Moon Ritual is a band born in 2010 by the union of Ruina (Guitar), Zat (guitar), Nerul (drums), Inviktus (Bass) and Arioch (vocals).
The five musicians already active in the past in various underground metal bandS, decide to play something more introspective giving life to this black metal band.
The current line up consists of four members, as guitarist (Zat) and then the bass player (Inviktus) left the band to play in other musical projects.
The guitarist Zat was replaced in 2012 by Lanius, while after the bass player Inviktus left the band, the bass lines were recorded by singer Arioch.

2.How would you describe your musical sound?
2) The band plays a classic black metal, due to the Scandinavian Black Metal of the 90s, with no influence of other musical genres.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
3)Occultism, Death, Religion, Pestilence, disease and Introspection are the main topics covered.
We are also against any form of organized religion, and this is also the subject of many of our lyrics.
Our band is not politically deployed, our lyrics don't deal with political issues.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
4)The name of the band was born in a full moon night we spent in the woods, it was a night of great inspiration.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
5) Full Moon Ritual have never played live.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
6) No,we don't. We are not interested in playing live. Black Metal is not a genre to play live.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or received any interest?

7) we are still without a label, the future is not yet known.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

8)Some like Full Moon Ritual, some maybe not...we don't care.

9.Are there any other musical projects going on these days?

9) There are no other musical projects currently.

10.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
10)future releases may have a change of style but the genre will always be Black Metal.

11.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
11) Our music is mainly influenced by the Scandinavian Black Metal bands and many underground bands.
We also listen to genres stylistically very different from  Black Metal.

12.Does Satanism or Occultism play any role in your music?
12) Satanism and the Occultism  are purely personal spiritual movements,so I don't want to talk about it.
Each person has his beliefs, four members of a band can never have the same way of thinking.

13.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
13) I personally don't have many interests. I spend most of my time writing lyrics and composing music.

14.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
14) We have a demo and an album in assets, those who want to listen to our releases can visit us on facebook and myspace.

Full Moon Ritual/Nightcall Comes From The Forest/2013 Album Review

Full  Moon  Ritual  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  old  school  Norwegian  style  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2013  album  "Nightcall  Comes  From  The  Forest".

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars,  as  for   synths  they  are  only  utilized  on  one  song  and  bring  a  very  dark  and  atmospheric  sound  to  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  Norwegian style  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  are  all  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  evil  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it  with  some  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Full  Moon  Ritual  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  Norwegian  style  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Arrival  Of  The  Plague"  "Domain  Of Evil"  and  "Forgotten  Path".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
