Amezarak/Non Lucidum Tristita/Symbol Of Domination Productions/Dazamadicus Records/Morbid Skull Records/2016 CD Review

  Russia's  solo  project  Amezarak  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  that  takes  his  raw  and  melodic  style  of  satanic/occult  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  a  touch  of  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2016  album  "Non  Lucidum  Tristita"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions,  Dazamadicus   and  Morbid  Skull  Records.

  A  very  heavy  yet  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  Swedish  influences  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  is  also  heavily  rooted  in  the   mid  90's  era.

  Throughout  the  recording  you can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  add  in  more  of  a  depressive  doom  metal  style  and  one  of  the  tracks  is  very  long  and  epic in  length  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  couple  of  instrumentals  are  added  onto  the  recording and  clean  playing  is  used  briefly  on  the  closing  track.

  Amerarak  creates  a  recording  that  has  the  raw  and  melodic  black  metal  style  of  previous  releases while  also  adding  in  more  depressive  and  doom  metal  elements  this  time  around,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russian  and  cover  coldness,  darkness,  satanism  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Amerarak  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  melodic  black  metal  with  a  touch  of  doom,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Twice Colder  Autumn"  "Experiment"  and  "Like  A  Dream".  8  out  of  10.

Amezarak/Angelus/Satanath Records/2012 CD Review

  This  is  another  review  of  an  album  from  Amezarak  displaying  his  early  melodic  satanic  black  metal  sound  with  the  album  being  released  in  2012  by  Satanath  Records  and  called  "Angelus".

  A very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  that  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  screams  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  while  the  riffs  also  use  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  Swedish  style  of the  genre  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of morbid  yet  cold  sounding  melodies  and  halfway  through  the  recording  melodic  guitar  leads  are  brought  in  briefly  and on  the  last  track  classical  guitars  a  brought into  the  music.

  On  this  recording  Amezarak  played  more  of  a  raw  style  of  black  metal  while  still  having  a  good  sense  of  melody  and  this  was  probably  the  most  fast  and  primal  music  he  has  released  so  far,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  yet  powerful  at  the  same  time  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Amezarak  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Acts  Of  Evil"  "Angel  Of  Mercy"  "I-Anger"  and  "Despair".  8  out  of  10.

Amezarak/Spring Non Veit/Satanath Records/2013 CD Review

  Amezarak  are  a  solo  project  from  Russia  that  has  been featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  melodic  form  of  satanic  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2013  album  "Spring  Non  Veniet"  which  was  released  by  Satanath  Records.

  Nature  and  tribal  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  an  epic  synth  as  well  as  some  spoken  word  parts  which  also  introduce  grim  black  metal  screams  onto  the  recording  and  after  the  intro  the  music  gets  more  heavy  and  also  goes  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  melodic  musical  direction  that  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  Once  the  music  gets  heavy  the  vocals  start  getting  more  high  pitched  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  just  like  with  his  other  releases  the  music  brings  in  a  90's  Swedish  influenced  black  metal  sound  at  times  and  spoken  word  parts  also  return  briefly  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  one  song  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  classical  guitars  while  the  last  2  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  with  the  last  one  also  bringing  in  keyboards.

  Amezarak  on  this  recording  displayed  some  of  his  earlier  raw  and  melodic  satanic  black  metal  style  that  he  expanded  upon  with  the  other  recordings  that  I  recently  reviewed  and  the  music  has  a  vintage  Swedish  sound  going  on  throughout  the  album,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russian  and  cover  Satanism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Amezarak  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "I  Appeal  To  Evil"  "A  Different  Fate"  and  "Repay  Your  World".  8  out  of  10.

Amezarak Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?
1. The project was formed in 2010. With the purpose to do black metal as the act of a Satanism. I always considered this style as mystical dialogue by unholy force as a certain black liturgy.

2.How would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recordings?
2. The sound varies from album to album. If the early albums that was raw and uncompromising black, the further the sound became better and juicier.

3.Your lyrics cover a lot of satanic and occult themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?
3. I since youthful years was interested in an occultism and practiced a Satanism. On it in texts these subjects prevail.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Amezarak'?
4. Amazarak - demon from the Book of Enoch. He taught people spell and therefore interaction with the forces of darkness. In my opinion, this is the best characterizes my black metal.

5.In the last 3 years you have released 5 albums, do you put a lot of time and effort into this musical project?

5. Not much time as me would like. It happens that I do not play for months, sometimes every day working on new tracks. It depends on my employment.

6.You have worked with a bass player in this project but for the most part have worked solo, are you open to turning this project into a full time band?
6. No, I do not see amazarak as a functioning team. Is that possible involvement of session musicians for the rare live performances.

7.You have worked with Satanath Records, Metallic Media, Darzamadicus Records, and Morbid Skull Records, are you happy with the support these labels have given you so far?
7. I am very grateful Satanath Records for support. In my opinion, exactly thanks to them амезарак are known outside Russia.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
8. Sent me flatter responses from South America, from Europe. I think Amezarak found the listener there. Few times invited even to act to Switzerland and to the Czech Republic. Unfortunately it isn't possible. In Russia black metal doesn't enjoy such popularity.

9.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?
9. Soon there will be a noticeable shift towards DSBM and Doom metal. And then it will be visible, I don't make far plans.


10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
10. Heavy music the 80-90kh of years affected. In musical addictions I prefer old metal.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
11. Cookery, pc games, strong alcohol.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
12. I can tell that the following album of an Amezarak will strongly differ from the previous. It will surprise many. Perhaps it will find many new listeners, and can will lose the old. But it will be another.

  Nature sounds  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  along  with some  blast  beats  and  grim  yet  high  pitched  screams  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  a  great  amount  of  melody  can  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  bring  in  a  Swedish  vibe.

  Some  of  the  songs  are  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  remain  true  to  a  melodic  style  of  black  metal  and  you  can  hear  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences  throughout  the  recording  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  very  dark  atmosphere  with  guitars  alone  and  the  whole  album  remains  heavy  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  With  this recording  Amezarak  played  a  style  of  black  metal  that  was  very  raw  and  melodic  in  the  early  to  mid  90's  Swedish  tradition,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russian  and  cover  Satanism  and  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Amezarak  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Start  Of  Emptiness"  "Ten  Substance"  "Become  Evil"  and "Exodus".  8  out  of  10.

  A  very  heavy  guitar  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  direction  that  also  use  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  and  the  riffs  and  leads  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments   have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Amezarak  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  melodic  and  also  captures  the  darkness  and  blasphemy  you  would  expect  to  hear  in  some  of  the  Swedish  bands,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Darkness  themes.

  In my  opinion  Amezarak  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  melodic  satanic  black  metal  solo      project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Smell  Of  The  Tomb"  "Necromancer"  and  "Eloa".  8  out  of  10.
