Azamoth Interview

 

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

We’re an old-school black metal band, based in Israel. We’ve been playing since 2004, released a demo and two albums, do awesome live shows and love beer.

2.In 2025 you had released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

I don’t feel these songs differ much in the style of writing, as most were written shortly after our first album, “Eternity”, was released. Some of the songs were even performed in our European tour, in 2006.

What differs greatly is our skill as musicians, and our familiarity with various aspects of music production, which brought the result we’ve been looking for in “Bellum Nostrum”.

 

3.This was also your first album released since 2006, can you tell us a little bit more about the 19 year wait in between releases?

The first time we’ve recorded the second album was in 2009, but we were not pleased with the result and scrapped it. Later, various changes in the lineup postponed the recording until 2019.

After that the album was stuck in mixing for a few years, and finally released in 2025.

Better late than never, but hope the next album will be ready quicker.

 

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?

Several songs deal with the state of the world, full of blind followers and false prophets, and various violent solutions to this situation.

Other songs are less related to physical reality, and deal with spirits, demons and the apocalypse.

5.I know that the band name means 'Bones' in Hebrew, how does this name fit in with the musical style that you play?

Be it bones or skulls, they are very prominent in the imagery of death in general, and metal specifically. A lot of the lyrics I write deal with death, destruction and the undead, so the name feels quite fitting.

 

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Oh man, we had a lot of great shows. Among the most memorable I’d say were the gigs on our tour in 2006, with Lord Belial, Dark Fortress and Born of sin. Especially amazing were the ones in Graz, Lucerne, Munich and Hamburg.

In recent years I think the most memorable was the gig with Mgla, in Israel.

We put on corpse paint and enshroud our mind in darkness, evil and chaos. When the audience responds well, it’s always an incredible show of demonic fun.

 

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for 2026?

We were invited to play in several shows in Israel, so far in March and April. Unfortunately, we have some logistical problems, with our drummer going briefly abroad, so it’s still unclear whether we’ll be able to perform in these.

Other than that, we’ll be sure to organize a show of our own, with great bands like Svpremacist, as soon as it’ll be feasible.

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

People seem to be thrilled to hear the old-school, riffing black metal, which sort of died out in the last couple of decades.

9.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Not really. Ratimus, our bass player, has a few one-man projects that are still active, the most notable of which are Geist, Mucous Scrotum and Witchcraft Sadomizer.

 

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We will always play black metal, though I think we’ll be moving towards a less melodic sound, and possibly slower tempos.

Hopefully we’ll be able to reproduce the sound and feeling of the early-mid 90’s.

 

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

At the beginning, our main influences were Immortal, Gorgoroth, Dissection, Satyricon, Ulver, early Marduk.

These days each of us listens to a huge variety of music, so it’s tricky to summarize.

In metal specifically, I listen to mainly 80’s and 90’s black, death and thrash metal bands.

From newly released music I tend to mainly listen to bestial metal.

12.Does Occultism play any role in your music?

Occultism provides a lot of the imagery I use in the lyrics, discussing various spirits and demons.  

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts? 

It’s been great. I’ll leave you with a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche:

Mascharat/Ars Aurea Mortis/Remparts Productions/2026 Full Length Review

 

  Mascharat  are  a  band  from  italy  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  a  very  atmospheric  and  occult  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Ars  Aurea  Mortis"  which  was  released  by  Remparts  Productions.

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  while  the  keyboards  also  add  in  some  avant  garde  and  classical  music  touches  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  gutiar  riffing  and  blast  beats  are  also  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  recording.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Classical  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  songs  along  with  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  at  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  based  upon  the  tranformation  of  mater  according  to  the  principles  of  alchemy  and  western  esotericism.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  mascharat  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Re  Mida"  and  "Lapis".  8/5  out  of  10.

Qurun/Iron Horns Of Dominion/2026 EP Review

 

  Qurun  are  a  band  from  Singapore  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2026  demo  "Iron  Horns  Of  Dominion".

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  brief  use  of  synths  and  choirs  as  well  as  some  clean  playing  and  spoken  words  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  era  of  the  genre,  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Qurun  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  aggressive  in  the  classic  90's  tradition.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Mysticism  and  Blasphemy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Qurun  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "I  Am  Ifrit".  8  out  of  10.

Mayhem/Liturgy Of Death/Century Media Records/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Norway's  Mayhem  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  technical  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Liturgy  Of  Death"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Century  Media  Records.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  synths  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  technical  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  tracks  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in a   great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Harsh  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  words.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  adding  in  more  of  technical  style,  one  song  also  introduces  growls  into  the  music  and  the  recording  also  brings  a  more  modern  approach  to  the  genre,  tribal  style  percussion  is  also  added  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy,  war,  darkness  and  philosophy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Mayhem  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ephemerial  Eternity"  "Funeral  Of  Existence"  and  "The  Sentence  of  Absolution".  8  out  of  10.

Mek Na Ver/Noctivaga/Masked Dead Records/Sulphur Music/2026 Full Length Review

 

  Mek  Na  Ver  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Noctivaga"  which  will  be  released  in  February  as  a  joint  effort  between  Masked  Dead  Records  and  Sulphur  Music.

  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  and  keyboards  start  off  the  album  and  also  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era  of  the  genre.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  At  times  the  album  also  gets  very  symphonic  sounding  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  

Spoken  words  are  added  on  a  couple  of  tracks  and  both  clear  female  and  male  vocals  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  a  few  songs  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length..  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  Italian  and  English  and  cover  esoteric  folklore. 

  In  my  opinion  Mek  Na  Ver  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and  old  school  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Strik-Elegia-Lunae"  and  "Sabbat-Vespera-Ultima".  8  out  of  10.

  Imbolc  are  a  duo  from  Italy  that  plats  a  very  melodic  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Sette  Cornici  di  Purificazione"  which  will  be  released  in  February  as  a  joint  effort  between  Masked  Dead  Records  and  Sulphur  Music.

  A  very  dark  yet  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  You  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  melody  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  A  lot  of  the  recording  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  old  school  tradition  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  adding  in  more  of  a  modern  post  metal  style.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  spoken  words  also  being  used  at  times.  Clean  playing  is  also  added  on  a  couple  of  tracks  as  well  as  the  synths  also  capturing  the  atmosphere  of  a  classic  horror  movie  when  they  are  utilized,  clean  playing,  classical  and  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  songs.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  inner  suffering,  the  discomfort  of   everyday life,  and  the  worthiness  of  human  beings  with  some  references  to  old  horror  movies  

  In  my  opinion  Imbolc  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic  and  old  school  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  melodic  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Chasmigration"  "Architecture  Of  Suicide"  and  "In  The  Reign  Of  Light  Only  Darkness  Can  Be".  8  out  of  10.

   Norway's  Northern  Krig  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Worship  Files  For  Anthropophagolagna  Predators"  which  will  be  released  in  February.

  A  very  apocalyptic  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  blast b eats  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  album  also  adds  in  a  lot  of  old  school  influences.  Synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  music  also  capturing  a  very  lo-fi  atmosphere  at  times,  interludes  are  also  added  in  between  songs  and  some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  slow  or  mid  tempo  riffing.

  On  this  recording  Northern  Krig  brings  out  a  very  raw  and  lo-fi  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Darkness,  Violence  and  Apocalyptic  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Northern  Krig  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Vile  Red  Phoenix  Of  The  Palest  Moon"  "Hunting  A  Nourishing  Territory"  and  "I  Am  King".  8  out  of  10.

Misotheist/De Pinte/Terratur Possessions/2026 Full Length Review

 

  Norway's  Misotheist  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  very  aggressive  and  dissonant  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "De  Pinte"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Terratur Possessions.

  Samples  and  synths  start  off  the  album  while  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw   style  and  the  vocals  bring  in  more  of  deep  growling approach  to  the  genre.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  High  pitched  black  metal  screams  are  utilized  at times  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  

  On  this  recording  Misotheist  goes  for  a  very  aggressive,  modern  and  dissonant  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Misotheist  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  aggressive  and  dissonant  black  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Unanswered  Thrice"  and  "Kjetterdom".  8  out  of  10.

  Aldheorte  are  a  duo  from  Los  Angeles,  California  that  plays  an  orthodox  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "The  Wild  Divine"  which  will  be  released  in  march  by  Solistitum  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of melody.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  era  of  the  genre  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  a  couple  of  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing,  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Aldheorte  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  orthodox  and  traditional  sounding  adding  in  a  modern  touch  to  an  old  school  aggression.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  blasphemy,  fury,  grief  and  mysticism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Aldheorte  are  a  very  great  sounding  orthodox  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Vanity"  "Ouroboros"  and  "The  Offering".  8  out  of  10.

Marlugubre/Per Amor Nymphae/Dusktone/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Marlugubre  are  a  solo  project  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  progressive  form  of  post  black  metal  with  elements  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2025  album  "Per  Amor  Nymphae"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Dusktone.

  Clean  playing  which  also  returns  on  later  songs  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  music  also  has  its  progressive  moments.

  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  mixed  in  with  some  death  metal  growls  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  along  with  some  synths  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  post  metal  style.  Female  vocals  can  also  be  heard  on  some  songs  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  stringed  instruments,  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  on  a  few  tracks  and  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Greek  Mythology.

  In  my  opinion  Marlugubre  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and  progressive  post  black  metal  solo  project  with  elements  of  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Beloved  Scylla"  "She  Nigh  His  Death"  and  "Like  A  Dim  Moonlight  In  Her  Heart".  8  out  of  10.

Gladium Regis/Quest/Dusktone/2026 Full Length Review

 

  Gladium  Regis  are  a  solo  project  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  and  epic  form  of  pagan  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2025  album  "Regis"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Dusktone.

  Classical  guitars  start  off  the  album  while  folk  instruments  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  the  synths  also  add  in  elements  of  dungeon  synth  and  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  the  vocals  add  in  a  mixture  of  clear  pagan  singing  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of the  guitar  riffing  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  album  also  has  its  atmospheric  and  symphonic  moments. 

A  couple  of  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can   be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  most  of  the  album  sticking  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.  some  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  touches  of  power,  traditional  metal  and  medieval  music.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover   Paganism,  Gnosticism,  Occultism,  Fantasy,  Esoteric  and  Medieval  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Gladium  Regis  are  a  very  great  sounding  epic  pagan  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Crux  inversa  Intra  Lunam"  and  "Quest".  8  out  of  10.

  Diabolus,  Mecum  Semperterne!  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  plays  an  orthodox  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2026  album  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Terratur  Possessions.

  Chanting  choirs  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes a   great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.  Some  of  the  tracks  are also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Nordic  style.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  some  of  the  riffing  also  adding  in  melodies,  interludes  are  also  added  in  between  each  track  and  synths  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album.

  Diabolus,  Mecum  Smpertene!  plays  a  style  of  orthodox  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  aggressive  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  and  Blasphemy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Diabolus,  Mecum  Semperterne!  are  a  very  great  sounding  orthodox  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ab  illo  benedicaris,  in  cujus  honore  cremaberis"  and  "Revelabitur  gloria  domini".  8  out  of  10.

  Merculistarya  are  a  solo  project  from  Hungary  that  plays  a  very  melodic,  atmospheric  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Áradó  fájdalom  a  tűnődés  medrében"  which  will  be  released  in  February  as  a  joint  effort  between  Pest  and  Metal  or  Die  Records.

  Clean  playing,  sound  effects  and  symphonic  keyboards  start  off  the  album  which  also  mixes  in  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  clear  singing  is  also  utilized  at  times.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Spoken  words  and  whispers  can  also  be  heard  briefly,  growls  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album  and  blast  beats  are  added  into t he  faster  sections  of  the  songs.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  tremolo  picking  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  giving  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  as  well  as  the  recordings  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments,  a  couple  of  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Hungarian  and  cover  introspective  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Merculisttarya  is  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric,  melodic  and  old  school  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Merengő"  "Rémálomköd "  and  "Sóhaj".  8  out  of  10.

   Graufar  are  a  band  from  Austria  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  melodic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2026  album  "Via  Necropolis"  which  will  be  released  in  March.

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling. 

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  death  metal  growls  are  also  used  at  times.  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.

   When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  a  couple  of  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length  and  one  song  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  social  criticism,  the  dark  side  of  human  nature,  transience  and  death.

Slagmaur/Hulders Ritual/Prophecy Productions/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Slagmaur  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  plays  a  Norwegian  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Hulders  Ritual"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Prophecy  Productions.

  A  very  heavy  and  aggressive  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are   utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody,  spoken  words  and  shouts  are  also  used  at  times.

  Keyboards  are  also utilized  on  a  couple  of  songs  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  to  mid  2000's  Norwegian  tradition.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast beats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  On  a  couple  of  songs  the  vocals  mix  both  a  semi  melodic  and  harsh  style  together  along  with  some  clear  male  and  female  vocals  vocals  also  being  used  on  a  few  songs,  some  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  English  and  Norwegian  and  cover  Nordic  Folklore  and  Supernatural  themes.     

  In  my  opinion  Slaugmaur  are  a  very  great  sounding  Norwegian  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Wildkatze"  and  "Rathkings".  8  out  of  10.

  Wolfcross  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  a  very  melodic  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  with  elements  of  speed  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2026  album  "Wargods  Of  The  Underworld"  which  will  be  released  in  March.

   A  very  heavy  yet  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads a re  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  old  school  extreme  metal  style  mixed  in  with  some  melodies  and  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  mixture  of  growls  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

   A  lot  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Swedish  style  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Elements  of  first  wave  black  and  speed  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  a  couple  of  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  words  which  also  adds  in  a  ritualistic  touch. 

   All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  a  later  track  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  synths,  a  couple  of  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.   The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Devil  Worship,  Occultism  Demonology,  Dark  Goddesses,  Left  Hand  Path,  Norse  Mythology  and  Witchcraft  themes.      

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Wolfcross  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  melodic  and  old  school  black  metal  with  elements  of  speed  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Satan"  "Tormenter  Of  The  Dead"  and  "Wargods  Of  The  Underworld".  8  out  of  10.

  Germany's  solo  project  Nebelfaust  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  old  school  and  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2026  album  "Die  Krähenfüße  des  Winters"  which  will  be  released  on  January  30th.

  High  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  chants  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  era.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Clean  playing  and  clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized.

  On  this  recording  Nebelfaust  takes  his  old  school  style  of  black  metal  into  more  of  a  melodic  direction  without  losing  the  aggression  of  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  cold  and  melancholic  themes.

  Nature  orientated  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  before  adding  in  some  clean  playing  and  female  vocals  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  keyboards  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  lot  of  melody.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  folk  instruments  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  as  well  as  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars,  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Scottish  History  and  Poetry.

  Necropolissebeht  are  an  international  band  with  members  from  Germany  and  Canada  that  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of t heir  2026  album  "Taurunovem-Th'Astraktysn  Serfdome"  which  will  be  released  in  February  by  Amor  Fati  Productions.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  mixture  of  bestial  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  add  in  a  chaotic  war  metal  style.

  Brutal  blast  beats  are  also  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  while  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies.  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts

  On  this  recording  Arcane  Frost  goes  for  a  very  raw,  old  school,  atmospheric  and  traditional  form  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  death  and  suffering  themes.

  Argus  Megere  are  a  band  from  Romania  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  folk  influenced  form  of  atmospheric  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Cerberea  Appusuli"  which  was  released  by  Loud  Rage  Music.

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  folk  instruments  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Vocals  are  done  more  in  an  angry  growling  style  mixed  in  with  some  clear  singing  and  grim s creams  while  the  keyboards  also  takes  the  recording  into  more  of  an  atmospheric  direction  when  they  are  utilized.
