We value anonymity. According to us it doesn’t matter who we are and where we come from. We want the listener to solely focus on the music rather than the persona behind it.
2.Recently you have released your first full length, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style you went for on the recording?
Our goal has always been to create music with a deep atmosphere and a certain melancholic vibe.
Since it took us several years to complete the writing process and the recording of the album the music definitely evolved over time as more and more layers and instruments were added. Considering that we did not had any experience in the beginning the arrangements of the songs have been re-worked a couple of times until we were satisfied with the outcome and the general vibe of the songs.
3.Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored with the music so far?
In the beginning we had a lyrical concept for the album in mind which we quickly abandoned due to the fact that we didn’t want to limit ourselves from exploring various topics and other emotional states. However, some of those ideas are still present on the album. In general, we draw inspiration from nature, self reflection and mainly our own daily struggle. And although some lyrics are quite personal, our main goal was to paint pictures with words that would fit the vibe of our songs.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Dawning Eclipse'?
It represents the everlasting battle between light and darkness and in a more abstract form the constant change from hope to despair and vice versa. Once you think you came out on top and have successfully dealt with certain issues the pulse of the void will drag you back down.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
The original album cover has been created by Erlend Mørk with a minor color tone adjustment done by us. We have been considering several artworks that would fit the concept and the feel of the album and we do believe that we found the perfect match. Forever grateful to be able to use Erlend`s art for our purpose.
6.Has the band done any live shows or is this strictly a studio project?
For the time being we have no plans on performing live and we believe that our kind of music isn’t really suitable for live performances. We rather would appreciate it if people get completely lost in the music while listening to the songs in solitude and surrounded by nature.
7.Currently the band is unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
For now, our album is only available at bandcamp but we are looking for a suitable label that would help us to release our music in a physical and more appealing form.
8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
Since we mainly compose and play music for ourselves we didn’t had any expectations how the album is going to be received but so far the reactions have been surprisingly positive. We would have never imagined that other people seem to be able to relate and appreciate our music.
9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
For the moment it is difficult to say as we haven’t started working on new material. However, we feel like that we don’t want to stagnate and do the same album over again but we will definitely continue to write atmospheric music. And since we would have access to more advanced recording equipment by now new material wouldn’t sound quite alike.
10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
It all started with discovering several acts of the second wave of black metal many many years ago. Nowadays all of us listen and appreciate various types of music and our interest for different genres increased over the last few years. Regarding our influences, we cherish a variety of bands that paved the way long before us and helped to create the atmospheric sub genre. Some influences are pretty obvious whereas other might not be that apparent. However, we feel like that it would be somehow unfair to mention just a few albums/bands in particular.
