Missa Mortvm are a band from Chile that plays a very raw and melodic form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Et Lux Perpetua Luceat Eis" which was released by Satanath Records.
Silent sounds start off the album before getting a little bit more avant garde and ritualistic along with some melodic chanting and after a minute the music goes into a very fast, raw and melodic black metal direction along with some blast beats and leads that utilize a great amount of melody and the vocals are high pitched screams.
At times the vocals get very deep and grim in sound along with all of the tracks being very long and epic in length and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and you can hear a lot of 90's influences in the music while the songs still have a very modern atmosphere to them.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and some of the tracks also bring in bass leads and you can also hear a bit of the more darker side of death metal in the bands musical style and chants also make their return at times while some songs also bring in a brief use of clean playing and synths which also gives the recording more of an atmospheric and epic feeling.
Missa Mortvm plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw, atmospheric and melodic at times while also adding in a touch of dark and death metal to create a style of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover Spirtual Ascension and Wandering Spirits themes.
In my opinion Missa Mortvm are a very great sounding raw and melodic occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Oh Bene Subtritus" and "Amissa Anima". 8 out of 10.
