Jute Gyte/The Sparrow/X Ray Records/2017 Full Length Review

  Missouri's  solo  project  Jute  Gyte  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  experimental  and  microtonal approach  to  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2017  album  "The  Sparrow"  which  was  released  by  X  Ray  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  open  note  black  metal  riff  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  follow  the  same  direction  while  also  adding  in  a  more  modern  yet  atmospheric  approach and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  are  added  onto  the  recording.

  A  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  during  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  synths  and  electronic  sounds  are  utilized  they  give  the  music  more  of  an  experimental  and  ambient  feeling  along  with  some  avant  garde  elements.

  Spoken  word  parts  are  also  used  at  times  and  both  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  touches  of  industrial  are  also  used  briefly  and  the  last  track  is  all  instrumental  and  adds  in  touches  of  noise.

  Jute  Gyte  creates  a  recording  with  one  track  that  has  the  more  heavy  and experimental  side  of  black  metal  that  he  is  known  for  while  the  second  track  would  be  more  at  home  on  his  non  black  metal  recordings,  the  production  sounds  very  raw,  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  philosophical  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Jute  Gyte  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  experimental  black  metal,  you  should  check  out this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "The  Sparrow".  8 out  of  10.

Jute Gyte/Ressentiment/Jeshimoth Entertainment/2014 CD Review

  Missouri's  1  man  band  Jute  Gyte  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  that  continues  his  experimental  approach  to  black  metal  and  this is  a  review  of  his  2014  album  "Ressentiment"  which  was  released  by  Jeshimoth  Entertainment.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  blast  beats  and  grim  vocals  as  well  as  the  guitars  having  more  of  a  weird  approach  to  this  genre  and  a  few  seconds  later  distorted  guitar  leads  are  added  into  the  music  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  incorporating  more  avant  garde  and  experimental  elements  as  well  as  adding  in  some  influences  from  industrial  and  ambient.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  is  also  a  good  mixture  of  clean  and  heavy  parts  with  the  cleaner  sections  bringing  in  a  very  progressive  approach  to  the  music  with  more  of  a  tripped  out  approach  and  you  can also hear  elements  of  noise  in  the  music  at  times  and  the  heavier  parts  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  One  one  of  the  tracks  you  can  hear  some  doom  metal  being  added  into  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  main  focus  remains  more  on  an  experimental  black  metal  sound  which  also  has  a  microtonal  feeling  along  with  a  great  amount  of  polyrhythm's  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  elements  of  black  metal  start  bringing  in  a  more  approach  while  the  music  also  remains  progressive  and  experimental  at  the  same  time.

  Jute  Gyte  creates  another  very  original  and  experimental  black  metal  recording  with  this  new  album  as  well  as  showing  a  great  amount  of  progress  with  the  music  and  this  recording  sounds  a  lot  more  different  than  anything  he  has  released  in  the  past,  the  production  has  a  very  powerful  sound  while  the  lyrics  cover  mortality,  philosophy,  nature  and  war.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Jute  Gyte  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  project,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Central  Fires  of  Secret  Memory"  and  "The  Grey  King".  8  out  of  10.

Jute Gyte/Vast Chains/Jeshimoth Entertainment/2014 CD Review

  Jute  Gyte  are  a  1  man  band  from  Missouri  that  has  had  plenty  of  material  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style  i  would  describe  on  this  recording  microtonal.  experimental  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Vast  Chains"  which  was  released  by  Jeshimoth  Entertainment.

  The  album  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  and  progressive  sound  along  with  melody  which  also  leads  to  deep  and  grim  sounding  black  metal  vocals  which  also  utilize  high  pitched  screams  as  well  as  mixture  of  clean  heavy  parts  which  brings  in  more  traces  of  experimental  music.

  As  the  album  continues  the  music  speeds  up  along  with blast  beats  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  as  well  as  being  a  dominant  factor  in  the  music,  while  also  bringing  in  a  good  amount  of  weird,  avant  garde  melodies  and  the  album  never  loses  its  progressive  touch  and  at  times  they  bring  in  elements  of  doom  metal  which  takes  the  record  into  an   even  heavier  direction  and  this  influence  really  shows  on  the  last  track  as  well  as  bringing  in  synths  towards  the  end.

  Jute  Gyte  once  again  creates  a  black  metal  album  that  is  very  fast,  heavy  and  experimental  sounding  while  also  showing  that  he  is  still  in  of  the  best  1  man  black  metal  bands  to  hail  from  the  United  States.

  Song  lyrics  cover  mortality,  philosophy,  nature  and  war,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful  and  heavy  sound  along  with  all  of  the  songs  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Jute  Gyte  and  if  you  like  your  black  metal  heavy,  fast,  progressive  and  experimental,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Endless  Moths  Swarming"  and  "Refusing  A  Heavenly  Mansion".  8  out  of  10.

  This  is  the  final  review  of  a  recording  from  Jute  Gyte  with  the  music  being  black  metal  with  experimental  and  psychedelic  elements  with  the  album  being  released  in  2013  by  Jeshimoth  Entertainment  and  called  "Discontinuities".

  Drums  range  from   slow, mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  use  some  raw  and  primitive  sounding  elements  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as  some  experimental,  psychedelic  elements,  melody,  progressive  parts  and  polyrhythm's  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  soft  and  clean  playing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  and  melodic  sounding  post  black  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

   Vocals  are  all  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams, while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  depression  and  nature,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it  with  the  songs  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Jute  Gyte  with  the  music  being  a  very  experimental  from  from  of  depressive  black  metal  with  elements  of  harsh  noise  with  the  album  being  released  by  Jeshimoth  Entertainment  and  called  "Senescene".

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars,  as  for  the  ukulele's  when  they  are  utilized  use  finger  picking  to  bring  in  folk  music  elements  to  the  album  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  harsh  noise  power  electronics.

  Drums  programming  ranges  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  beats  as  well  as  a  real  drum  kit  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  sound  effects  bring  in  elements  as  harsh  noise  and  experimental  along  with  a  brief  use  of  avant  garde  sounding  organ  work,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Vocals  are  all  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  that h ave  a  depressive  tone  to  them  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  surreal  warfare  and  death  in  haikui  like  fragments,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  sound  with  the  songs  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  you  can  still  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  Jute  Gyte  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  raw  black  metal  and  experimental  music  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Teeth"  "Snail"  and  "Death".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
