Stupor Mundi Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?
1 The project is a one man band born in 2016  , i started with rehearsing various songs and i written various lyrics abouts politics and society .
Stupor Mundi is a political band and is born because i have various thing to talk about , especially political and i really enjoy to listen and play black metal music

2.So far you have released a demo and a split, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on both of the recordings?
2 The sound is raw and it want to  give the atmosphere of the class struggle  and the revolution ,  things that are hard and violent .

3.Your lyrics cover Marxism, Communism, and Left Wing Politics, can you tell us a little bit more about what these mean to you?
3 It is a important thing for me , i started with communist history but i try to extend this to present because i want to talk about our society.
In "non è finita" from the split i tried to mix history and actuality: 30 years ago with the collapse of berlin wall the corporate business said to us that history is ended and the world will be more rich and developed but is a lie , and history is not ended : marxism for me is a response to this lie , because in europe the workers are losing their rights and unemployed are growing . in the whole word the rich became more rich and poor more poor so i think that is class struggle and a good response is to give power to the workers , against multinationals and great corporations that starve the world.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Stupor Mundi'?
4 I like middle age history and i chose stupormundi because it is the second name of Federico II , an emperor who was a great enemy of the catholic church that divided a lot italian people

5.With this project you record veryting by yourself, would you be open to working with other musicains if they shared the same visions musically and politically?
5 yes , and not only to other musicians but other bands

6.Recently you where a part of a split with 'Red Star Kommando', what are your thoughts on the other project that was a part of the recording?
6 i think that is a very good project and it can gain a lot of support

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
7 I have not received interests , i dont look for a particular label but im open to all labels.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
8 I see  more support in Europe and Latin America , most of the positive feedbacks come from counties like Brazil , Italy , Russia

9.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see yourself heading into musically during the future?
9 For the start of next year and in the future i see me in  this musical direction

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
10 Bands like mayhem , xasthur , iskra and punaterrori and Voland are very important in the creation of my music , I listen also hardcore / anarcho punk  , Death   metal and skinhead music in general .
Other artist that i like are Summoning , Moloch , Imago Mortis , Marduk , Impaled Nazarene , Wasp , Motorhead ...

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

Red Star Kommando/Stupor Mundi/2018 Split EP Review

This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Moldova's'  Red  Star  Kommando  and  Italy's  Stupor  Mundi  which  was  self  released  in  2018  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Red  Star  Kommando  a  musical  project  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  lo-fi form  of  communist  black metal.

Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  raw  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  before  speeding  up  and  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  done  mostly  in  a  deep  black  metal  style  which  is  mixed down  low  in  the  mix  but  having  a  bestial  approach  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  capturing  a  lo-fi  atmosphere  and  elements  of  noise,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Italian  Communism  themes.

In  my  opinion  Red  Star  Kommando  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  communist  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Red  Transnistria".

Next  up  is  Stupor  Mundi  a  solo  project  continuing  his  raw  and  lo-fi  style  of  black  metal.

His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  slow  riffing  before  going  into  a  very  fast  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  while  you  can  also  hear  the  guitar  picking  along  with  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  mostly  deep  yet  grim  black  metal  screams  and  the  second  track  is  an  instruemntal,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Communism,  Marxism  and Left  Wing  Politics.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Stupor  Mundi  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Inutile  Stage'.

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  communist,  raw  and  lo-fi  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Stupor Mundi/Ottobre Rosso/Depressive Illusions/2017 Demo Review

Stupor  Mundi  are  a  solo  project  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2018  ep  "Ottobe  Rosso"  which  was  released  by Depressive  Illusions.

A  very  lo-fi  sound  starts  off  the  demo  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  vocals  a  few  seconds  later  which  are  mixed  down  low  in  the  mix  while  the  riffs  also  use  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  drum  beats  are  all  programmed.

A  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  which  also  uses  a  great  mixture  of  both  slow  and  fast  parts  and  the  closing  track  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  which  also  brings  in  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars.

Stupor  Mundi  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  lo-fi  while  also  being  very  different  at  the  same  time,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Italian  cover  The  October  Revolution  And  The  Worker  Struggles  In  Europe  After  The  End  Of  World  War  1.

In my  opinion  Stupor  Mundi  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  lo-fi  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Ordine  Nupvo".  8  out  of  10.
