Infestus/Entzweiung/Talheim Records/2024 Full Length Review

Infestus  are  a  solo  project  from  Germany  that h as  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  more  of  an  experimental  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2024  album  "Entzweiung"  which  was  released  by  Talheim  Records.

A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  while  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  pianos  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilzied  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks.

At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  sounding  along  with  a  couple  of  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts.  Synths  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  as  well  as  some  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  acoustic  guitars,  whispers  and  clear  vocals  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  album.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  existence  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Infestus  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  experimental  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dead  inside"  and  "Dance  of  Uncreation".  8 out  of  10.

Infestus/E_x_I_s_t/Debembur Morti Productions/2011 CD Review

Infestus are a one man project from Germany that plays a very dark and experimental form of black metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "E_x_I_s_t" which will be released by Debember Morti Productions.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats, while the synths when they are utilized bring a very dark ambient feel to the music and at times it has a very weird and unholy sound to it, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone which is kind of mixed down low in the mix and seems to follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that have a melodic edge at times with a lot of weird sounding distortion and on one song there is some thrash style riffing, while the lead guitars are very distorted sounding black metal guitar solos that are also very dark in sound, as for the classical guitars when they are utilized they use a lot of finger picking to give the music a more ancient sound.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams with some deep growls, while the lyrics cover Darkness, nocturnal woods, and spiritual abyss with one song being written in the German language, as for the production it has a very dark, heavy and raw feel to it.

In my opinion Infestus a re a very good and original modern day sounding black metal band and iy you are looking for something different, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Down Spiral Depersonifacation" "Mirror Mond Reality" and "Descend Direction Void". RECOMMENDED BUY.
