Enevelde/Gjendod/Elegier fra avgrunnen/Terratur Possessions/2026 Split Album Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Norway's  Enevelde  and  Gjendod  called  "Elegier  fra  avgrunnen"  which  will  be  released on   June  6,  2026  by  Terratur  Possessions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Enevelde  who  returns  with  a  raw  and  atmospheric  style of  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  clear  chants  and  clean  playing  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  harsh  vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  mixed  in  with  a  few  growls  and  blast  beats  are  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in a  decent  amount  of  melody.  A  lot  of  the  recording  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  2000's  era  of  the  genre  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  the  tracks  also  have  their  atmospheric  moments,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  synths  are  added  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  and  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  nature,  folklore,  darkness  and  evil  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Enevelde  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ut  av  deg  selv"  and  "Fodselsdefekt".

  Next  up  is  Gjendod  who  return  with  their  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  their  side  of  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  A  lot  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era  of  the  genre,  synths  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  recording  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments  and  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly,  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  melodic  style.   The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  and  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  nature,  folklore,  darkness  and  evil  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Gjendod  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  atmospheric  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  'Verden  vakner"  and  "Utslettelsen".  8  out  of  10.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  Norwegian  black  metal,  8  out  of  10.

Enevelde/Pandemonium/Van Records/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Norway's  solo  project  Enevelde  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  very  modern,  aggressive  and  epic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2025  album  "Pandemonium"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Van  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  apocalyptic  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melodies  and  the  guitar  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  in  the  modern  era  mixed  in with  the  aggression  of  the  old  school  style  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the closing  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  

  On  this  recording  Enevelde  goes  for  a  more  modern,  aggressive  and  epic  form  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  Norwegian  and  English  and  cover  Hell  and  the  Destruction  Of  Man.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  album  from  Enevelde  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  modern,  aggressive  and  epic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Nigromantia"  and  "Rasende  Flammer".  8  out  of  10.

Enevelde/En Gildere Død/Terratur Possessions/2023 Full length Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Norway's  solo  project  Enevelde  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an raw  and  epic   style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2023  album  "En  Gildere  Død"  which  will  be  released  by  Terratur  Possessions.

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  done  in  more  of  a  deep  and  grim  black  metal  style  while  synths  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  at  times.

  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  At  times  the  vocals  go  into  more  of  a  high  pitched  direction  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style.  One  song  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  female  vocals,  clean  playing  can  also b e  heard  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Enevelde  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  epic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Avmakt"  and  "Epilog".  8  out  of  10.

Enevelde/Gravgang/Terratur Possessions/2021 EP Review

 

  Enevelde  are  a  solo  project  from  Norway  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  played  more  of  a  dark,  minimalistic  and  ugly  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  ep  "Gravgang"  which  was  released  by  Terratur  Possessions.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  vocals  are  done  in  more  of  a  deeper  black  metal  style.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  more  of  a  minimalist  touch  and  the  whole  recording  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  done  in  more  of  a  dark  yet  melodic  style.

  On  this  recording  Enevelde  played  a  style  of  black  metal  that  was  more  raw  and  uglier  than  the  sound  he  went  for  on  the  first  full length.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  darkness  and  death  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Enevelde  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  ugly  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Gravgang"  and  "Den  dypsindige".  8  out  of  10.

Enevelde/Self Titled/Terratur Possessions/2020 CD Review

  Enevelde  are  a  solo  project  from  Norway  that  plays  a  very  modern,  aggressive  and  epic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2020  album  which  will  be  released  on  May  29th  by  Terratur  Possessions.

  Dark  yet  melodic  guitar  leads  start  off  the  album  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  All  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  deep,  demonic  yet  grim  black  metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  is  mostly  rooted  in  a  modern  style.  The  songs  also  add  in  some  session  work  from  members  of  Whoredom  Rite  and  Mare  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  at  times  the  music  also  has  it's  raw  moments  with  the  tremolo  picking  riffs,  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  the  closing   track. The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Enevelde  are  a  very  great  sounding  aggressive  and  epic  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Kroppens  Mani"  and  "Daukjottet".  8  out  of  10.
