Atronos/Gram/Purity Through Fire/2026 Full Length Review

 

  Germany's  Atronos  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  old  school  form  of  pagan  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Gram"  which  was  released  by  Purity  Through  Fire.

  A  very  fast  and  raw   sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  add  in  a  mixture  rough  pagan  singing  and  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  era  of  the  genre.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Elements  of  folk  music  are  also  mixed  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  some  growls  also  being  used  at  times  and  later  tracks  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  synths,  acoustic  guitars  and  clean  playing. 

  On  this  recording  Atronos  plays  a  style  of  pagan  black  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era  of  the  genre.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  Paganism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Atronos  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  pagan  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Geisterflug"  "Knochen"  "Stolz"  and  "Zorn".  8  out  of  10.

Atronos/Erwachen/Purity Through Fire/2023 Full length Review

 

  Germany's  Atronos  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  old  school  form  of  pagan  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Erwachen"  which  will  be  released  on  December  21st  by  Purity  Through  Fire.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.  Most  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  synths  can  also  be  heard  at  times.  Clean  playing  is  also  added  on  some  of  the  tracks  along  with  some  clear  pagan  vocals  also  being  utilized  on  a  few  songs  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Growls  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  album  along  with  al  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  recording  also  has  its  epic  and  atmospheric  moments.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  Paganism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Atronos  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  pagan  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Was  uns so  schrecklich  hasst"  and  "Transformation".  8  out  of  10.

Atronos/Fehde/Purity Through Fire/2022 Full Length Review

 

  Atronos  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Fehde"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Purity  Through  Fire.

  Drum  beats  and  heavy  riffing  starts  off  the  album  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  clean  singing  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast beats  can  also  be  heard.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while t he  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  folk  music  style  melodies.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  true  to  an  old  school  yet  melodic  style  along  with  the  tremolo  picking  also  giving  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  when  it  is  utilized  as  well  as  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing

Eisenkult/Atronos/Purity Through Firte/2022 Split CD Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Germany's  Eisenkult  and  Atronos  which  will  be  released  on  July  23rd  by  Purity  Through  Fire  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Eisenkult  who  returns  with  their  atmospheric,  melodic,  old  school  and  raw  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  off  with  some  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  melodic  yet  heavy  riffing  a  few  seconds  later.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  tracks  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also h ear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  small  amount  of  synths  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling.  Whispers  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  the  vocals  also  having  their  deeper  moments  at  times,  clear  vocals  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  songs  and  one  song  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing,  some  of t he  riffing  also  shows  an  influence  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  blasphemy,  anti  Christianity,  death,  sin,  darkness  and  iron  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Eisenkult  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  melodic,  old  school  and  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  Track  "Niederes  Gewurm".

  Next  up  is  Atronos  a  band  that  plays   an  old  school  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  drum  beats  and  heavy  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  Clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  melody  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  At  times  the  vocals  also  get  very  deep  and  angry  sounding  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  when  clean  playing  is  utilized  briefly  they  also  give  the  recording  more  of  a  medieval  touch.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  black  magick  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Atronos  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Milt  Speeren  und  Harpunen"  and  "Dein  Zauber".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  soiunding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  German  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.
