1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?
DAGON V.: Well...We were a little bit stopped cause during the recording we had some differences and problematics. I decided to quit for some months to think about it and have a little relax (there was lot of years fighting in the scene and here in Barcelona you can find a shitty/blockhead/childish competitive "musical scene"...so this is not what I want to have my projet involved in. I look for good people, good bands, good friendship, good trades and good gigs). Anyway I haven't stopped promoting the album till it was been published in CD format. Nowadays the differences and problematics were resolved and Virium is gathered another time to return with all its power and rage.
2.Your last album was released in 2015, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
DAGON V.: All people says it sounds great! I think the same, we've done a good work. But the price is not achieved without effort, constance and patience. Before this first LP we had recorded some garage demos ("Wolved" with the first formation, "Pure Hate from the Abyss" (a live demo) "The cruel winter" Tape RIP demo, "From the void" which was the last one before recording the LP and an EP by my hand as a one man band period during 2012 ("Beyond the gates of the Obsydian Kingdom"). The is a notorious difference in the sound. We finally have increased our quality!
3.The lyrics on the album cover Vlad Tepes and occult topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interests in these areas?
DAGON V.: I am very interested in the occult dimension, and I like a lot vampires. We wanted to describe Têpes as a human, as the real prince of Transylvania who fighted the enemy in a powerful and dynamic lyric.
As you can read in the lyrics, we talk too about feelings and things we live or we see in this putrid contemporary world and also about obscure beings like Cthulhu, a Wolfman, the Fallen Angel... We want to be accurate in our lyrics, to write lines full of magic and interest for our fans. Uruk, our singer is a great help in this area because lot of times we write the lyrics together and he has the grace to get the lyrics full finished, polished and well structurated.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Virium'?
DAGON V.: Virium is the latin word to describe Power, Strenght, Violence, Fury... this is the best word to describe our music.
5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Wow...since the beginnig, in 2009 we had lot of good gigs, we have a lot of good memories of them. I will remark the gigs with Inquisition and Negura Bunget, but it's not fair to forget the rest...We've played with lot of good artists of our country, as Kabal, Instinto Canibal, Human Carnage, Maleït, Into the Nethermost, Riot of Violence, Khaos Origin...Wow I can not remember now all the bands, all the good moments, all the fucking good music we all offered toghether in the stage. I just can say taht all tha gigs were amazing, magic and great.
About our stage performance? Well, we began as classic corpsepainting but, come on...Times are changing, we have to improve, to do what each one wants to do and to offer to the fans a show as personal as we can. We are what we are and we do this crazy raw music, we don't need all this obsolete paraphernalia to look like devils, cause we have our own devils inside. We are totally pissed off about "trve" blockheads.
6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
DAGON V.:You will be noticed soon ;)
7.The new album was released as a joint effort between Vertabrae, Humicide Records and Negra Nit Distro, are you happy with the support these labels have given you so far?
DAGON V.: I am very glad to have these great people at my side, moving my music, making it arrive as far as possible.
8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and thrash metal?
DAGON V.: Everyone is very satisfied with our work. And it makes me be satisfied. I do music for the people, not for my own ego. I just want to say that social networks are a holly shit if you want to promote you work. Everyone wants you to pay for promote. Facebook is the big enemy for us, the underground, no matter the hours you spend promoting by your hand...If you don't pay, your lost...awww.fuck them all.
9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
DAGON V.: I really don't know...Time wil tell.
10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
DAGON V.: I like lots of different music styles, from Leonard Cohen to Enthroned. I think every music has its moment (but please, kill all the reggaeton followers...) Some of my favorite metal bands are Horna, Dark Throne, Black Sabbath, Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult, Death Hammer, Urn, Witchhaven, Bethlehem, Aura Noir, Iron Maiden (yes, so what?), Cirith Ungol, Moonspell, The Gathering, Therion, Burzum, Fall of Effrafa, Gris, Mortiis, and a very big lot of other great metal bands...Nowadays I listen to all of them, as always.
11.What are some of your non musical interests?
DAGON V.: Art, stop motion cinema (I do stop motion films, please look for facebook.com/pcmproductions ;D ), animals, magic, nature, martial arts, my wife and my dog.
