Perversor/Psicomoro/Hells Headbangers/2021 EP Review

Perversor  are  a  band  form  Chile  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  old  school  and  satanic  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  ep  "Psicomoro"  which  will  be  released  in  May  by  Hells  Headbangers.

War  movie  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  some  dark  sounding  melodies.  Vocals  are  mostly  blackened  death  emtal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  mixing  in  elements  of  90's  era  death  metal  and  80's  era  South  American  extreme  metal.

Influences  of  thrash  metal  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  The  songs  also  add  in  a decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  growls  also  being  added  into  some  parts  of  the  recording  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  remaining  very  true  to  an  old  school  style  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

On  this  recording  Perversor  remains  true  to  the  old  school  and  satanic  mixture  of  black, death  and  thrash  metal  that  they  had  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Spanish  and  cover  Satanism,  Darkness  and  War  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Perversor  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  and  satanic  black,  death  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cocaina"  and  "Anguis  Caecus".  8  out  of  10.

Perversor Interview

1.Can you give us an updater on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Infernal Greetings!!! It has been hell over here during the last few weeks. We have been concerned mainly with the Chilean release of the CD version of the album, which is being handled by The Dwell Records, and will be out really soon. Also, the distribution of the tape edition which was the first to arrive (and we were out of stock in about a week). It was released by Headsplit Records, and we are currently waiting for our share of the vinyls from the release by Pulverised Records who is also handling a CD version as well. We got a hold of the first few vinyl records about a week ago and I must say we are more than pleased with the result. We had a celebration that day which involved some cops and many angry neighbors. I hope they are prepared for when we get the rest of the stuff!!!

2.Recently you have released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

In a way it kind of sums up all of what Perversor has done in the past, but with an added twist. The way it sounds to me reflects exactly how the composition process developed, which was quite smoothly and you can hear that on every song. There is nothing forced, the transitions develop one after the other with total simplicity. On our previous efforts we concentrated on every riff and every detail very much during the composition and now we took a different approach, more holistic somehow, creating the songs and leaving the details and final arrangements to be included at the last minute, during the recording process. This creates a kind of urgency that maximizes the creative output from every member of the band. It was not planned out that way however, it just developed this way naturally.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer release and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?

In underground metal there are no fags around censoring you, and no one is paying me any shit to do this, so I feel free to yell whatever the fuck is in my mind at the time. People always give their own meaning to song lyrics, so why bother following a stupid typecast. That´s what´s great about metal, do what you want, cause nobody really gives a fuck!!! Hahahha. From the beginning of Perversor every track of every album is its own universe. To give you a headstart, I can talk of some tracks of Umbravorous, Deadly Poison And Black Fire is a dystopia in reverse illumination, which is what most of the assholes in this planet are going though right now. The Dwell deals with destroying the established, a simple fuck the rules! Piss the flame that forever burns!!! Eat the serpent that infinitely dwells!!! Burn the flag that will eternally wave!!! Kill the wolves and devour the sheep!!!. I don´t go by the code. Life`s tough and then you die!!! Endure the Dwell!!! It is also the name of our record label. Formidable Destino is the birth of a hero. Military Industrial Complex is a grand mockery towards all the parasites in power that hold The Earth hostage. “Pedophiliac Termonuclear holiness, tours an orgy of paraphiliac heave, selling phantom deception. Blackening the Earth with Nuclear frenzy all the fagot semen dripping emperorscircumcide each other´s dick with their teeth engaging in chain sodomy. Beware of the Termonuclear pedophile!!!!”.Somnambulus is a true story about addiction to cocaine and alcohol. My body possessed by the demon and he promises me to hide me from the shadow of death, to keep feeding the demon I must be drugged with cocaine and other sexual and magickal drugs, and drunk as fuck everyday, every night. Swimming in alcohol, fucking a whore and exalting my demon at all times. Asmodeus! Ten thousand days of starvation, fucking drinking alcohol, consuming angel dust, eternity into powder, night and day becomes one…He will never leave you alone!!! This track contains disgusting blacking vocals by WLTS of Istengoat. True Somnambulus!!!!

4.A lot of your older lyrics dealt with satanic and blasphemous themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

Still satanic and blasphemous!!!! Not much has changed since Cult of Destruction … Most people think books are enough to learn dark arts. I found that to me, drugs are the gate that once opened, unlocks the mind to everything you want to find. You just have to select the right ones and be conscious about what you are doing, or you may end up dead! You have shamanic from which you can have unique and fulfilling psychedelic experiences, and you have recreational drugs are that usually more destructive if you don’t use them right. In this area, to each his own. Books are great, because the words of the wisemen must not be ignored. But I think the personal experience is always way better than a book, which was probably written by a wiseman on drugs hahaha, you have to get the direct experience if you want to learn anything that has real significance. You can get a better glimpse at understanding the universe if you begin by doing the effort to understand your inner self. If you have the strength to be your own master. Most of the times the worst ad most traumatic experiences are the ones that even make your DNA re-structure. Learning from yourself, without succumbing to outer influences, that´s real magick to me.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Perversor'?

Well it means basically the same shit in every language so you guys figure it out.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

The cover artwork this time was handled by Desierto Absoluto, a Chilean artist who delivered one hell of an oil painting for the release. He had done some great pieces for other Chilean acts, but surely the best is yet to come. The concept behind the artwork was condensed in a mad session of drunken ecstasy involving the 4 members of the band, and Torrid was in charge of translating and delivering the concept to the artist so that he could get the work done. The end result merges quite well with the overall concept of the album so for a more in-depth insight read away the lyrics and eat away with Umbravorous!!!

7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Our shows are and will always be a supreme act of aggression for us and for the audience as well. There is always plenty of moshing around and I think there has never been a show without a fight during our performance. Blood on the ground is becoming a tradition hahahha…Last show we performed in Santiago there was plenty of fighting and mosh, and a dude got stabbed in the drinks zone. In Chile the best gigs are a fucking long rush of adrenaline, and always end up with beatings. You have to always be alert!!! I guess our sound plus massive doses of booze just invokes violence in the crowd. Don’t try to steal the drinks or you’ll end up in the garbage can!!! We have played many venues and shared stage with some of the best metal acts in our country. Just to name a few shows I would say Sendero Siniestro, Years of Blasphemy and Satanic Devotion, Occult Congregation, Glorifica y Muere, Triumph of Death, have been some of the best…and of course one of the best has been opening for the mighty Master when they played live here in Chile.

8.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album/

Not really at the time, our plan is to compose and release another full length album and after that do some gigs and touring. So 2019 we will spend off the stage preparing for the devastation in 2020 when the evil twin will be unleashed. It will certainly be have more speed, madness and aggression than ever before. We constantly strive to surpass ourselves musically and physically in the execution of our music, so expect nothing but pure, thick and condensed black metal of death.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your newer music by fans of black, death and thrash metal?

So far it has been great, mainly due to the fact that almost all of our releases have been edited abroad. Starting with Cult of Destruction LP which was released by NWN Prods, then Demon Metal MLP by Hells Headbangers, Invocaciones Demoniacas split with Morbosidad also released by NWN Prods, and then The Shadow of Abomination by Hells Headbangers in CD format and Iron Bonehead in 7”. Later we issued a split with Nunslaughter in 7” format by HHR and in tape format released by us in Chile. And after that came our second full length by HHR as well. And now for our latest offering we are working with Pulverised Records who has done a great job with the production of both the CD and Gatefold LP.
We have received many contacts throughout the years from bands all over the globe for trades and other proposals. We hope this last LP gets to every last corner of this earth so bangers everywhere can get a taste of what Perversor is all about.

10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

All of us have been involved in other projects aside from Perversor, both before its inception and after as well. Some worth mentioning that are active and developing at the time would be:
Misticismo, with a full length release last year (Terraria) on Grim Records and soon to release some new material.
Evil Madness, with the most recent release (Hidden Behind the Cross) on Grotesque Sounds Productions
Putrid Minds with a full length release last year (Servants of Death) on Putrid Noise Productions and another full length to be released during 2019.

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Our aim is always to develop unto unexplored lands and push our boundaries to the limit, always focusing in the different currents of extreme metal in the classic way, no pussy bullshit. This might mean different things to each of the members of the band but we all strive to go beyond our limits on every release. Certainly, more speed is always desirable but also adding other kind of weapons to our arsenal is a must. Anything that that can add to the creation of an aura of demential putridity will be included. More texture to the guitar work perhaps, more and new kind of sick patterns in the drumming, heavier bass lines, and a more violent approach to the creation of the lyrical content and its execution will probably be some of the ingredients.  Summing up, every new album must be the most insane and fucked up!!!

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

If we were to sum up the influences of every member, we would probably cover all of the ground of extreme metal in its totality. Some of us focus more in the older, more classic stuff and some others also in the development that metal music genres are having at the time and the newer stuff that is being released. We usually share insights and bands that we discover, so the influences interlap all the time. Just to name a few of the most classic stuff, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Hypocrisy, Infernal Majesty,  Slayer, Majesty, Terrorizer, Krisiun, Abhorrence (Brazil), Sarcofago, Sepultura, Bolt Thrower, Benedicion, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath, Running Wild, Saxon, Venom, Bathory, Horna, Pestilence, Possessed, Samael, Dissection, Obituary, Entombed, Cannibal Corpse, Infester, Deeds of Flesh, Immortal, Mephisto, Grand Belial´s Key, Arghoslent, Mayhem, Morbid, Burzum, Destroyer666, Destruktor, Nocturnal Graves, Ensnared, Necros Christos, Svartidaudi, Sinmara, Whoredom Rife, Thy Darkened Shade, DeathHammer, Ascended Dead, D.S.O., Mortuary Drape, Cryptic Slaughter, and a long etc…impossible to name them all!!!

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Cheers fuckers!!!! Grab a Vodka, get wasted, and listen to Umbravorous!!! Play it loud and kill your neighbour!!!!

Perversor/Umbravorous/Pulverised Records/2019 CD Review

Perversor  are  a  band  from  Chile  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  old  school  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Umbravorous"  which  will be  released  in  March  by  Pulverised  Records.

A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  along  with  some  of  the  riffing  also  capturing  the  brutality  of  the  later  mentioned  genre.

A  great  amount  of  thrash  elements  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  some  of  the  riffing  also  adds  evil  sounding  melodies  into  the  music.  A  great  amount  of  80's  and  90's  influences  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  but  done  with  a  more  modern  and  brutal  approach.

At  times  the  speeds  off  the  music  almost  borders  on  the  raw  aggression  of  war  metal  as  well  as  most  of  the  music  sticking  to  mostly  fast,  raw  and  aggressive  sound  along  with  only  a  few  seconds  of  mid  tempo  sections  being  utilized  throughout  the  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Apocalyptic  themes.

In  my  opinion  Perversor  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  aggressive  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Dwell"  "Military  Industry  Complex"  "Virtual  Antropophagy"  and  "DMT".  8/5  out  of  10.
