Blackdeath are a band from Russia that has a history that dates back to the mid 90's with a musical style i would describe as being a raw and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Phobos" which was released by Heidens Hart.
"Der Lutze Untergang" which is also the first song on the album opens up with grim black metal screams, heavy guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds later the music speeds up along with some blast beats which also leads to a small amount of clean singing and halfway through the song there is a brief use of guitar solos and leads being utilized.
"Fauler Geruch" begins with grim vocals, heavy guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds later guitar solos and leads start coming in and out of the song and you can also h ear bass guitars in certain sections of the song as well as a brief use of blast beats and as time goes on by the guitar riffing gets more melodic.
"Also Sprach Schopfer-Psychopath" opens up with heavy guitar riffs and drums along with grim black metal vocals a few seconds later and a few seconds later the vocals also utilize some clean singing as well as bringing in guitar leads for a few seconds and towards the end guitar leads make a return along with some blast beats from the drums.
"Lucifer Rising" kicks in with fast, raw and primitive black metal guitar riffs, blast beats from t he drums and grim screams before alternating between mid paced and fast parts as well as bringing in guitar solos and leads in certain sections of the song and at times you can hear bass guitars in the background, halfway through the song there is also a brief use of spoken words being utilized and towards the end there are also clean vocals being used for a few seconds.
"Sehnsucht Nach Meiner Heimat Saturn" starts up with heavy guitar riffs, drums and grim screams and a few seconds later bass guitars kick in along with the guitar riffing getting more melodic which also leads up to a small us e of getting solos and leads and halfway through the song fast guitars and blast beats start becoming a part of the song before slowing down and adding in melodic vocals.
"Das Zahnefletschen des Engels (Phobos)" come in with fast and melodic black metal guitar and bass riffs as well as drums before alternating between slow and fast parts and a minute later grim screams become a part of the song as well as a brief use of spoken word parts and melodic singing before adding in guitar solos and leads which also leads to a small amount of blast beats.
"Die ersten Froste im Paradies" which is also the last song on the album opens up with heavy guitar riffs and drums along with some spoken word parts a few seconds later which also evolve into black metal screams and a few seconds later guitar solos and leads start coming in and out of the song, in addition you can hear bass guitars in the background before adding in a small amount of melodic clean singing.
Song lyrics are written in Russian and cover Satanism, Luciferian and violent themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Blackdeath and if you are a fan of modern satanic black metal, you should enjoy this recording. RECOMMNDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Der Lutze Untergang" "Lucifer Rising" and "Das Zahnefletschen des Engels (Phobos)". RECOMMENDED BUY.
