This is a review of a 4 way split album between Greece's The Darkened Shade, Austria's Amestigon, United Kingdom's Inconcessus Lux Lucis and Norway's Shaarimoth called "SamaelLilith: A Conjunction Of the Fireborn" which will be released in June by W.T.C Productions and we will start off the review with Thy Darkened Shade who return with their occult style of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some clean playing and ritualistic sounding synths while melodic chants and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier direction.Most of their tracks are also very long and epic in length and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can also b e heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are done in mostly an angry yet deep black metal style as well as the riffs, guitar solos and leads also adding in a lot of dissonant structures.
Melodies are also added into some of the riffs and leads as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Melodic vocals can also be heard in some parts of the music as well as the songs also having their progressive and technical moments, classical guitars and stringed instruments can also be heard briefly and Gregorian chants are added on their closing track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover The Bloodline Of Fire from a Left Hand Path, Gnostic and Anti Cosmic approach.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Thy Darkened Shade and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Daathian Reveries And Gamaliel Revelations".
Nest up is Amestigon a band that plays an occult form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some clean playing while all of the musical instruments on their side of the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. Most of their tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the vocals being done in a very angry yet deep black metal style.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very distorted yet melodic style along with some ritualistic spoken word parts also being utilized at times. High pitched screams which also g et very grim sounding at times are also utilized at times as well as the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling as well as the riffs also adding in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, clean vocals can also be heard b riefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover The Bloodline Of Fire focusing more on the serpent side.
In my opinion Amestigon are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Tortuous Serpent".
Next up is Inconcessus Lux Lucis a band that plays an occult form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some epic sounding synths before going into a heavier musical direction. All of the musical instruments on their side of the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very old school style showing influences of both the 80's and 90's era. Vocals are done in a very grim black emtal style mixing move the 1st and 2nd wave styles together and when tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. A couple of the tracks are also long and epic in length along with an instrumental also adding in some classical guitars and the closing track also adds in some ritualistic chants. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the Bloodline Of Fire with some Black Witchcraft and Death Worship touches.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Inconcessus Lux Lucis and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Liminal Terror(The Witches Curse)".
Next up is Shaarimoth a band that plays an occult mixture of black and death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some ritualistic soundscapes and spoken word parts before adding in some dark yet melodic guitar leads and heavy riffing. Vocals are done in mostly a blackened death metal style while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of brutal sounding blast beats.
Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the ritualistic soundscapes also being mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs at times.
Clear vocals are also utilized briefly as well as the vocals also adding in a decent amount of angry shouts. Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with most of their tracks also being very long and epic in length, synths and Gregorian chants are also added into some parts of the music, When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the Bloodline Of Fire with some touches of Chaos Gnosticism.
In my opinion Shaarimoth are a very great sounding occult mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Flows The Blood Of Retribution".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and would recommend it to all fans of occult black metal. 8/7 out of 10.
