United Kingdom's Inconcessus Lux Lucis have returned with a new recording that continues the occult black metal style of previous releases and this is a review of their 2017 album "The Crowning Quietus" which will be released on Halloween by I, Voidhanger Records.
Distorted amp sounds along with some grim black metal screams, tortured and drum beats starts off the album as well as adding in a very ritualistic feeling before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the solos and leads are both chaotic and melodic at the same time.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the riffing also uses a great amount of melody, talent and skill along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and on some of the tracks the riffs also mix in elements of traditional metal and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and at times the music also brings in a black'n'roll vibe, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly on the closing track.
On this recording Inconcessus Lux Lucis remains true to the occult style of previous releases while also adding in more traditional metal influences and catchy riffs, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Left Hand Path and Saturnian Black Magick themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Inconcessus Lux Lucis and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Armour Rides Upon Midnight" and "Fever Upon The Firmament". 8 out of 10.
