Lloth are a band from Greece that plays a melodic and Hellenic mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Athanti" which will be released in September by Sleaszy Rider Records.
Heavy yet melodic riffing starts off the album along with some powerful sounding bass guitars and drum beats a few seconds later while the vocals bring in a mixture of death metal growls and high pitched black metal screams along with the leads being done in a very melodic style.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can b e heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling while the music is very heavily rooted in the early 90's Greek black metal style as well as being very heavily influenced by Rotting Christ along with the tracks also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Some songs also add in a small amount of spoken word parts while clean singing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with some elements of doom metal being added in the slow riffing, one of the tracks is all acoustic that also uses a small amount of operatic female vocals before closing the album with a heavier sound.
Lloth plays a style of black metal that is very true to the Hellenic style while also adding in a great amount of melody and death metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Hatred, Mourning and Paganism themes.
In my opinion Lloth are a very great sounding melodic and Hellenic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Athanti" "Born In Sin" "Emptiness" and "I (Dead Inside)". 8 out of 10.
