Vehement are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a very extreme form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Ashes" which will be released in Octboer by Infernum Records.
Field recordings start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams along with the riffing also bringing in a decent amount of melody and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic fashion along with a brief use of clean vocals on some tracks and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them, as the album progresses acoustic guitars are also added into the music and growls are also utilized at times..
Vehement plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic and traditional sounding but with a more modern take on the genre, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Vehement are a very great sounding extreme black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Far Below Us" "Burden's Root" and "Tidal Verse". 8 out of 10.
