Hellhole/I Succumbed/Nailed Nazarene Industries/2020 Full Length Review

  Australia's  Hellhole  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  them  expanding  into  a  duo  with  the  other  member  being  from  Norway  and  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  atmospheric  and  depressive  style  of  post  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "I  Succumbed"  which  was  released  by  Nailed  Nazarene  Industries.

  Tortured  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  adding  in  some  clean  playing  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  yet  depressive  black  metal  screams and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  elements  of  post  metal  can  also  be  heard  at  times.  Clean  playing  also  returns  on  some  of  the  later  tracks  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  a  couple  of  songs  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  style,  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  Hellhole  remains  true  to  the  atmospheric  and  depressive  style  of  black  metal  that  was  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  depression,  loneliness  and  betrayal  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hellhole  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  and  depressive  post  black  metal, you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hate  Life"  and  "This  Is  The  End".  8  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  compilation  from  Nailed  Nazarene  Industries  called  "The  World  Of  Lies"  which  consists  of  black  metal  bands  from  different  parts  of  the  world  and  we  will  review  the  tracks  one  by  one.

 Xathrites (Iraq) "No Longer Me".

  The  song  starts  our  with  some  drum  beats  and  dark  yet  heavy  riffing  along  with  some  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  along  with  some  melodies  also  being  utilized  at  times,  clean  singing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  the  song  being  long  and  epic  in length  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  stringed  instruments.  The  track  also  always  sticks  to  a  slower  direction  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Destined  To  Suffer  (Australia)  "I'm  So  Cold  When  I  Am  Alone".

  Nature  sounds  and  whispers  start  off  the  track  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  atmospheric  musical  direction.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  clean  playing  being  utilized  at  times,  the  song  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  always  sticks  to  a  slower  musical  direction.

  Agvares  (Russia)  "Clamor  Aeternam".

  Spoken  word  parts  starts  off  the  track  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams.  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  song  also  adding  in  some  blast  beats  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style 

  The Kingdom  Of  Peace  (Poland)  "World  Terror".

  The  song  starts  off  with  some  programmed  beats  before  going  into  a  heaver  direction.  Spoken  words  are  also  used  briefly  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  song  also  bringing  in  elements  of  doom  metal.   Blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  when  the  music  speeds  up  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  deep  yet  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  "My  Truth".

  Tragic  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  song    while  the  track  is  also  an  instrumental  which  also  adds  in  some  elements  of  dark  ambient,  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Empty  Inside  (Brazil)  "A  minha  libertacao,  o  meu  descanso".

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  song  along  with  some  drum  beats  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  takes  the  track  into  a  heavier  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  and  when  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  song  more  of  a  raw  feeling

  Depersonalization  (Hungary)  "Cigarettes  After  Cigarettes".

    Clean  playing  starts  off  the  track  along  with  some  drum  beats  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  atmospheric  sounding.  The  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  being  an  instrumental  and  also  always  sticking  to  a  slower  musical  direction.

  "Thoughts"

  Melodic  guitar  leads  and  acoustic  guitars  start  off  the  song  along  with  the  track  also  being  an  instrumental.  The  music  is  also  mostly  rooted  in  the  post  and  atmospheric  forms  of  black  metal  and  also  sticks  mostly  to  a  slower  musical  direction.

  Hellhole  (Australia)  "Death  Earth".

  Programmed  drum  beats  start  off  the  track  along  with  some  heavy  riffing  a  few  seconds  later.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  song  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  at  times  as  well  as  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  atmospheric,  depressive,  post  black  metal  and  blackened  doom  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Hellhole/Beyond Reasonable/2020 Full Length Review

  Australia's  solo  project  Hellhole  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  atmospheric  style  of  post  black  metal  from  his  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2020  album  "Beyond  Reasonable".

  Bells  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  choir  vocals  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  drum  beats  are  programmed.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  one  track  also  introduces  clean  playing  onto  the  recording.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  along  with  the  songs  also  mixing  in  a  decent  amount  of  post  metal  elements  and  when  the  music  finally  speeds  briefly  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard,  a  couple  of songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  Hellhole  takes  his  atmospheric  style  of  post  black  metal  into  more  of  a  darker  and  more  aggressive  musical  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  war  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Hellhole  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  post  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "No  Way  Back"  and  "Chaos  Of  War".  8  out  of  10.

Hellhole/Whores In The Guise Of Saints/Nailed Nazarene Industries/2020 Full Length Review

  Australia's  Hellhole  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  atmospheric  and  depressive  style  of  post  black  metal  from  his  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2020  album  "Whores  In  The  Guise  Of  Saints"  which  will  be  released  in  April by  Nailed  Nazarene  Industries.

  A  very  dark,  heavy  and  atmospheric    sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  depressive  black  metal  screams.  Synths  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  recording  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  while  some  of  the  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Elements  of  post  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the recording  while  the  music  is  also  a  lot  more  darker  than  previous  releases.  One  song  also  introduces  clean  playing  onto  the  album  along  with  the  guitar  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized,  stringed  instruments  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  the  music  sticks  to  mostly  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them. 

  On  this  recording  Hellhole  takes  his  atmospheric  and  depressive  style  of  post  black  metal  into  an  even  more  darker  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the lyrics  cover  anti  religion  and  blasphemy  themes.

  Rain  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  clean  playing  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  brings  elements  of  post  rock  onto  the  recording  while  all  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  heavier  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  depressive  black  metal  screams.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  songs  also  mix  both  the  heavy  and  atmospheric  parts  together.  Clean  playing  also  returns  on  the  later  tracks  along  with  some  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  grim  sounding  whispers,  one  track  also  adds  in  torture  samples  and  all  of  the  songs  also  stick  to  a  slower  direction  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  sound  very  powerful.

  Hellhole  plays  a  style  of  depressive  black  metal  that  is  very  slow  and  atmospheric  sounding  as  well  as  adding  in  elements  of  post  rock  to  create  a  sound  of  his  own.The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  depressive  and  suicidal  themes.

  Next  up  is  Ruined  Mind  a  solo  project  that  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  post  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  the  sounds  of  suicide  along  with  some  atmospheric  elements  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  mostly  depressive  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  synths  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  at  times.  The  second  track  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Ruined  Mind  are  a  very  great  sounding  depressive  and  atmospheric  post  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Rotting  World[Inside]".

  Next  up  is  Chagrin  who  returns  with  his  atmospheric  style  of  post  black  metal.
