AlNanrood/Al Aqrab/Shaytan Productions/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Saudi  Arabia's  AlNamrood  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  oriental  folk  music  influenced  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Al  Aqrab"  which  will b e  released  in  June  by  Shaytan  Productions.

  A  very  heavy  and  epic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  keyboards  also  being  mixed  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Elements  of  oriental  folk  music  and  percussion  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording.  Death  metal  growls  are  also  added  on  a  couple  of  the  tracks  along  with  the  music  also  getting  very  tribal  and  ritualistic  sounding  at  times  and  as  well  as  a  couple  of  the  songs  also  being  an  instrumental,  chants  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  most  of  the  album  also  sticks  to a   mid  tempo  direction.

  On  this  recording  AlNamrood  remains  true  to  the  oriental  folk  music  influenced  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  historical  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  AlNamrood  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  oriental  folk  music  influenced  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ardh  Bela  Sma"  "Al  Ghasasina"  and  "Al  Jurm  Al  Madfoon".  8  out  of  10.

AlNamrood/Worship The Degenerate/Shaytan Productions/2022 CD Review

 

  Saudi  Arabia's  AlNamrood  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  their  mixture  of  black  metal  and oriental  music  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Worship  The  Degenerate"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Shaytan  Productions.

  Tribal  style  drumming  and  oriental  folk  instruments  start  off  the  album  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  tremolo  picking  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  when  they  are  utilized.  A  small  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  at  times  along  with  one  track  also  introducing  death  metal  growls  onto  the  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  melodic  chants  can  also  be  heard  as  well  as  an  instrumental  also  being  added  towards  the  end

  On  this  album  AlNamrood  remain  true  to  the  mixture  of  black  metal  and  oriental  folk  music  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Ancient  History,  Evil,  Darkness  and  Anti  Religion  themes.   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  AlNamrood  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  metal  with  touches  of  oriental  folk  music,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Protector  Of  The  Herd"  and  "Free  Will".  8  out  of  10.

AlNamrood/Kitab Al Awthan/Shaytan Productions/2021 Vinyl Re-issue Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  an  older  recording  from  Saudi  Arabia's  AlNamrood  which  shows  the  music  being  black  metal  mixed  in  with  elements  of  oriental  folk  music  and  the  album was  originally  released  in  2021  by  Shaytan  Productions  and  is  going  to  be  re-issued  on vinyl  in  2021  by  Shaytan  Productions.

  A  very  epic  keyboard  orientated  sound  starts  off  the  album  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  at  times.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style  while  elements  of  oriental  and  arabic  folk  music  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording.

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with the  percussion  also  giving  the  songs  more  oa  a  tribal  atmosphere  when  they  are  utilized.

  Saudi  Arabia's  AlNamrood  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  their  mixture  of  occult  black  metal,  oriental  and  middle  eastern  folk  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Wala'at"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Shaytan  Productions.

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  oriental  style  folk  music  instruments  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  at  times.  Middle  Eastern  style  scales  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Angry  sounding  shouts  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  black  metal  screams  are  also  utilized  in  a  great  portion  of  the  music.  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  some  blast  beats  also  being  utilized  when  the  music  speeds  up  and  most  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  more  of  a  mid  tempo  direction  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  semi  melodic  tone.

  On  this  recording  AlNamrood  takes  their  music  into a   more  mid  tempo  style  while  also  retaining  the  folk  music  elements  of  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Arabic  and  cover  ancient  history,  evil,  darkness  and  anti  religion  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  AlNamrood  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of occult  black  emtal,  oriental  or  middle  eastern  folk  music,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sahra  Yaesa"  "Al  Shareef  Al  Muhan"  "Aar  El  Estibad"  and  "Alquam".  8  out  of  10.

  Middle eastern  style  folk  instruments  start  off  the  album  and  they  also  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  at  times  and  after  awhile  blast  beats  and  rough  yet  grim  black  metal  screams  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  they  also  add  clean  singing  into  some  parts  of  the  songs.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are done  in  a  very  dark   yet  melodic  fashion  while  you  can  also hear  a  decent  amount  of  melody  in  the  guitar  riffing  and  one  track  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  war  samples  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  and  there  is  also  an  instrumental  before  closing  the  album  with  two  vocal  songs.

  AlNamrood  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  the  middle  eastern  folk music  inspired  style  of  black  metal  from  previous releases,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  ancient  history  and  anti  religion  themes.

Darkestrah/AlNamrood/Akyr Zaman/Tajer Al Punqia/Shaytan Productions/2016 Split EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Kyrgyzstan/Germany's  Darkestrah  and  Saudi  Arabia's  AlNamrood  called  "Akyr  Zaman/Tajer  Al  Punqia" nwhich  was  released  by  Shaytan Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with Darkestrah  a  band  that  plays  epic  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  nature  sounds  along  with  some  melodic  chanting  along  with  some  epic  sounding  keyboards  a  few  seconds  later  as  well  as  adding  in  more  of  a  heavier  sound  and  grim  black metal  screams  while  some  of t he  riffs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  to  speed  up  along  with  more  of  a  raw  sound  and  blast  beats.

 The  song  also  brings  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  they  also  mix  the  heavy  and  atmospheric  parts  together  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  clean  singing  which  gives  the  music  a  ritualistic  feeling,  and  their  song  is  10 minutes  in  length, t he  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Paganism  and  Turkish  History.

  In  my  opinion  Darkestrah  are  a  very  great  sounding  epic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.

  next  up  is  AlNamrood  a  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  the  zine  and  plays  black  metal  with  a  touch  of  oriental  folk  music.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  drums  and  melodic  yet  rough  vocals  as  well  as  speeding  up  and  adding  in  blast  beats  while  the  riffing  can  also  get  very  melodic  at  times  which  also  leads  to  the  vocals  using  more  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  also  starts  mixing  in  more  Middle  Eastern  music  elements  and  both  of  their  tracks  bring  in  a great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts, t he  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Arabian  history.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  AlNamrood  and  if  you are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  check  out  their side  of  the  split.   

  In  conclusion  i  feel  this  is  a  very great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  epic  or  folk  influenced  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

AlNamrood/Diaji Al Joor/Shaytan Productions/2015 CD Review

  AlNamrood  area  band  from  Saudi  Arabia  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  and  occult  form  of  black  metal  with  a  touch  of  oriental  folk  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Diaji  Al  joor"  which  was  released  by  Shaytan  Productions.

  A  very  dark,  atmospheric and  ritualistic sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with some  elements  of Arabic  folk  music  that  also  brings  melodic  ethnic  chanting  onto  the  recording  and  they  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  tribal  drum  beats  and  after  the  intro  the music  retains  its  folk  traces  and  also  introduces  acoustic guitars  to the tracks.

  Once  the  music  gets  heavy  it  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  while  also  going  into  a  more  of  a  raw  style  of  black  metal  that  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  grim  screams  that  also  get  high  pitched  at  times  and  blast  beats  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  some  tracks  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts,  whispers  and  atmospheric  sounds  and  after  awhile  melodic  vocals  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording and  they  also  mix  the  folk  music  and  black  metal  elements  together.  

  AlNamrood  creates  another  album  that  continues  their  mixture  of  atmospheric occult  black  metal  with  Middle  Eastern  and  oriental  folk  music  while  also  adding  in  more  catchy  riffs  this time  around  and  they  also  expand  their  style  out  a  bit  more,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  powerful  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Arabic  and  cover  Ancient  History,  Darkness,  Evil  and  Anti  Religion  themes.

  I my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  AlNamrood  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Zamjara  Alat"  "Adghan"  and  "Ana  Al  Tughian".  8  out  of  10.

AlNamrood Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

We are thinking of releasing a 7” EP for the tracks that we didn’t include in “Heen Yadhar Al Ghasq”, this plan is preliminary.

2.Recently you have released a new album, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction of the new recording and also how does it differ from your previous releases?

It basically the same mechanism used in other releases, expect that a new vocal have joined the band and shifted the vocal tune and methodology drastically, the album was intended to go towards middle eastern influence more than black metal.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the new release explores?

Typically, historical war-like theme, in each album we write a new plot, however they all fall in the same theme, this album plot is about tyrannical king, he was double crossed by his own soldiers, the defected troop sat a plan to overthrow the king and maintain the town chaos, it was determined that the attack will take place when dusk appears (or when murky sky appears) hence the title of the album “Heen Yadhar Al Ghasq”.The artwork envisions the post-apocalyptical event.

4.I know that the band name comes out of Middle Eastern history, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this topic and also are you interested in the pre Islamic Paganism of your home country?

We reflect Art, music, history and culture into one entity crossing each other and sharing the same characteristics. As we educated ourselves about the world history, we decided to emphasize on our area since it was very interest narrative to articulate musically. We have presented the history of Arabs before Islam to highlight the original situation of Arab at that era, we looked into sociopolitical researches studies on the history of the Arabs the old and the Arabian Peninsula, in general the resources are limited due to lack of Arabian historians. It was interesting how things didn’t so changed since the ignorant era, however, The descent is a factor in the status of the individual life, 
it will determine the class of living, on the other hands  the war between clans for menial cause, accepting human slavery, burying girls and glorifying kings are still carrying on until this day. These factors are extending and it took us further to explore history and reflect it into our music as an middle eastern raging metal.

5.I know that the band has not been able to do shows where you live but have expressed an interest in doing an European tour, have you had any luck being able to set it up for the new release?

In fact the opportunities for live shows exist, but due to major security reasons, we decided to no to expose ourselves, not until we think about immigration out country, otherwise, the radical religious regime will set us to beheading!

6.What are some of the things you would bring on stage if the opportunity for a live show ever came up?

Simply we’re going to perform our songs; so this might require additional musicians to take role on the other traditional instruments,such as Darbuka, Qanoon, and other drums.

7.In the past you released a split with Dhul -Qarnyan and Ayyur, are there any other middle eastern black metal bands that you would recommend?

Nothing in particular for now, however, we are looking forward for another split with other Underground European bands.

8.The new album came out on Shaytan Productions,  can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Shaytan productions are indie label from Canada specialized in oriental and middle-eastern folk metal productions, we connected with them thru myspace, to spread our music globally, AlNamrood started with Shaytan Producions and will continue releasing the future album with them.

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans 
of black metal?

It was great in fact in global wise, however, on the local wise, we received many threats through emails from unknown senders.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

AlNamrood was intended to be an underground metal band that rises from the most messed up place in the world, seeing the advancement we are making, we think we might become a mainstream band one day, however, this is all depends on us leaving our country with no return.

11.What are some bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Old school metal in general, black/punk metal specific, also Middle Eastern influenced bands such as Melechesh and Nile.

12.What are some of your non musical interests?

We have great interest in Art and history, globalization and culture.

13.How would you describe your views on Occultism?

We consider ourselves more rebel than occultists, we emphasize on power, resistance, liberty and control-freedom.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or

AlNamrood/Heen Yadhar Al Ghasq/Shaytan Productions/2014 CD Review

  AlNamrood  are  a  band  from  Saudi  Arabia  that plays  black  metal  with  elements  of  oriental  folk  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Heen  Yadhar  Al  Ghasq"  which  was  released  by  Shaytan  Productions.

    Middle  eastern  folk  music  sounds  and  black  metal  guitars  open  up  the  album  along  with  some  melodic  leads  a  few  seconds  later  and  all  of  the  middle  eastern  sounds  are  done  on  synths  and  the  music  starts  adding  in  symphonic  elements  on  some  of  the  other  tracks  along  with  the  drumming  having  a  more  tribal  feeling  to  them.  

  When  vocals  are  added  onto  the  album  they  have  a  more  melodic  and  chanting  style  feeling  and  they  also  use  some  evil  laughter  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  grim  black  metal  elements  and  you  can  also  hear  the  drumming  utilizing  blast  beats  and  the  music  can  also  get  very  experimental  at  times  along  with  the guitars  utilizing  some  middle  eastern  scales  and  on  the  4th  track  they  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  folk  instruments  while  the  main  focus  is  in  the  heavier  parts  which  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.

  AlNamrood  have  a  very  interesting  sound  with  their  music  and  creating  a  musical  style  that  could  be  classified  as  middle  eastern  black  metal  since  it  has  a  mixture  of  heaviness  and  oriental  melodies  which  they  also  mix  in  with  symphonic  synths  along  with  a  powerful  sounding  production  and  lyrics  that  are  written  in  Arabic  and  cover  Ancient  History,  Evil,  Darkness  and  Anti  Religion  themes.

  In  my  opinion  AlNamrood  are  a  very  great  and  original  sounding  mixture  of  black  metal  and  middle  eastern  folk  music  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  these  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Estahat  Al  harb"  "Youm  Yukram  Al  Jaban"  and  "Subat".  8/5  out  of  10.
