Serpentfyre are a band from Finland that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 mini album "Illuminating Ruin" which will be released in July by Altare Productions.
A very heavy sound along with some melodic guitar leads start off the album and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and after awhile grim y et high pitched black metal screams are added into music along with some blast beats when the music speeds up.
During the faster sections of the songs a great amount of tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw black metal feeling and the music also has a great amount of 90's second wave influences but done in a more modern fashion and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the riffs also mix in melodies at times and clean guitars are also utilized briefly on the closing track.
Serpentfyre plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw and heavily rooted in the Finnish tradition, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover a devotion to the Black Arts and the Will Of The Great Serpent along with one track being written in Finnish.
In my opinion Serpentfyre are a very great sounding raw occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this mini album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Invocation Of Phosphorus" and "Supreme primal Darkness". 8 out of 10.
