Esotis are a 1 man band that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2013 album "Eternal Silence Of These Infinite Spaces" which was released by Katabaz Records.
"Holy Void" which is also the first song on the album opens up with heavy and atmospheric sounding black metal guitar riffs, synths as well as some drum beats and a minute alter grim black metal vocals are added into the music as well as some ambient elements which also mix in with the heavier parts to create a very dark sounding ambient black metal song.
"A Blaze of Darkness" begins with dark sounding black metal guitar riffs which are in a slower direction along with some grim screams a few seconds alter as well as drum beats and ambient style synths which take over for a couple of minutes before returning to a heavier direction and then back to the ambient sound which closes the song.
"Those Hills Above An Endless Millennial Forest" opens up with a black metal scream that comes in and out of the song before putting in dark ambient synths and drum beats as well as some heavy guitar riffs shortly after that and then the music alternates between ambient and black metal along with some dark sounding melodies, towards the end nature sounds and classical guitars are added into the music.
"Lightning Whisper" starts up with dark sounding guitar riffs and ambient synths which also use a variety of many different sounding keys as well as some drum beats and there are only a small amount of vocals being utilized in the song with the music concentrating more on dark atmospheres.
"Oblivious To The Earth" kicks in with dark atmospheric synths which also bring in elements of ambient and a few seconds alter heavy guitar riffs, drum beats and grim black metal scream start to come in along with the music concentrating more on the instrumental side of the spectrum and halfway through the song classical guitars become a part of the music and they also close the song.
"Beyond the Last Constellation Shore" comes in with dark and atmospheric sounding ambient synths and drum programming as well as some grim black metal vocals which also utilize some screams and as time goes on by you can also hear some electronic music elements coming in and out and a couple of minutes later drum beats are added into the music along with a small amount of acoustic guitars.
"Abyssal Vertigo" breaks in with dark sounding synths that bring in atmospheric and ambient elements as well as a variety of many different keys and the music is an all instrumental ambient piece.
"Human-shaped Emptiness" which is also the last song on the album begins with dark ambient drone sounds as well as some atmospheric sound effects and the song is very long and epic with the length being over 12 minutes.
Song themes cover darkness, cosmos and galaxy themes, while the production has a very dark and heavy sound along with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Esotis are a very great sounding atmospheric, ambient black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Holy Void" "Lightning Whisper" and "Beyond the Last Constellation Shore". RECOMMENDED BUY.
