Altaar are band from Norway that plays a mixture of depressive black metal, doom, ambient, drone and psychedelic and this is a review of their self titled album which was released in 2013.
Drums are all slow playing with no fast drumming or blast beats being used on this recording, while the synths bring in the ambient, drone and psychedelic elements to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffing that dominates throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars are all slow riffs t hat combine depressive black metal, heavy doom and psychedelic to create a sound of their own along with a great amount of heavy and soft and clean playing being thrown into the riffing along with some dark sounding melodies and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are deep black/doom metal growls and screams, while the song themes cover darkness, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, dark and heavy sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Altaar are a very great sounding hybrid of black metal, doom and psychedelic and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should of checked out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Tidi Kjem Aldri Att". RECOMMENDED BUY.
