Apolokia are a band with members from both Norway and Italy with a musical style I would describe as being old school sounding raw and primitive satanic black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Kathaarian Vortex" which was released by My Kingdom Music.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some brutal sounding blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding in the old tradition with some dark sounding melodies being thrown into the riffing at times and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams with some occult chanting being utilized at times as well as some spoken word samples, while the lyrics cover Satanism, Left Hand Path, Occultism, Nihilism and Misanthropy themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive old school sound to it with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Apolokia are a very great sounding old school. raw and primitive satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of t his musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Post Kristus Daemonalatry" "Order Of The Nine" "Signum Satani" and "Coil Of Nihilism". RECOMMENDED BUY.
