Kozeljnik are a band from Serbia that has been featured before in this zine and plays a weird and schizophrenic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 ep "Null: The Acheron Of Multiform Negation" which was released by Paragon Records.
The ep starts out with slow, dark and heavy guitar riffs along with some drums and bass guitars a few seconds later and then the musical starts going into a more melodic black metal direction while also keeping around a good amount of heaviness which leads up to some grim vocals that have a very melodic edge to them and after awhile guitar solos are added into the music and they bring in more melody.
As the album moves on it starts adding in more fast parts and blast beats while also keeping around the melodic elements as well as mostly sticking to mid paced sections as well as mixing in some early 90's doom/death metal elements along with some more progressive sounding elements and this album is a lot more different sounding than previous recordings with the band being more experimental and by the time the fourth song comes around there are some quest vocals from Kvaroth of Shining and he brings in some depressive black metal screams as well as bringing a stronger sound to the recording and when the band goes into their fifth song a lot of fast and old school elements return to their music and it remains in that direction until the closing of the ep as well as adding more grim elements into the vocals.
While overall this is not a bad album I prefer the older stuff that this band has put out in the past but I can respect the fact that they are growing as musicians and are not afraid to experiment more and add new elements to their arsenal and this recording shows that this band are very talented musicians with a great amount of skill.
Song lyrics cover darkness, misanthropic and depressive themes with a touch of Satanism, while the production has a very strong, powerful, and heavy sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording along with a couple of songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Kozeljink and if you are a fan of weird and schizophrenic black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "As If Through A Myriad of Shades" "Come Thou Abhorred And Incessant" and "Scourged With Apathy". RECOMMENDED BUY.
